“A great find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

My partner and I have just returned from a late season week in Albufeira. This being our first trip to Portugal, we hired a car at the airport and used the apartment as a base to tour from, exploring the coast all the way west and east. We didn't need to use the pool or the bar so can't comment. The room was clean, in good decorative order, well furnished and equipped. The range of cooking equipment was the best I've seen in an apartment. Nice to have ceramic crockery instead of that Arcoroc glass stuff that is so commonly provided. The beds were very comfortable and there were extra pillows and blankets (which we needed) One of the real bonuses was the Hotel's quiet location. it is tucked away in a quiet mainly residential area, behind a big supermarket. We had a great sleep every night of our seven night stay. There was no noise in the building and no noise from the street. We didn't bother with the 'Strip' (too old) but it is a 25 minute stroll down to the Old Town, where we ate a couple of times. Head for the escalator as this does save some effort.

If we go back to Albufeira we will definitely stay here again. There are just 26 apartments, some studio and some one bedroomed. Special mention to manager Salvatore, who couldn't be more helpful and patient with our many enquiries.

Room Tip: Even if there is only two in your party I think its worth the extra cost to have more space in the o...

We have just returned from Albufeira today. We booked a cheap four night break at the Lageada Sol after reading the reviews on here. On arrival at 11.30 we were greeted by Salvatore, who informed us that our room would not be ready until 3pm. We were able to leave our luggage in a spare room and went off to explore and get something to eat, so it wasn't a problem. Salvatore is very knowledgeable about the area, providing us with a map and a detailed explanation of the locations of cashpoints, good places to eat etc. Upon return, our studio apartment was ready and I have to say it was comfortable and spotlessly clean, with everything you could possibly need in terms of cooking utensils etc. The shower was powerful and stayed hot.
The pool area is great but we do agree with some of the posts on here, that it would have been much better if the bar was open and snacks made available for guests to buy.
As stated by other guests, the hotel is conveniently located for both The Strip and the old town.
Eating out is as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be and there are restaurants and cafes everywhere! We would recommend a restaurant, soon to be called the "3J's" which is opposite a bar called Banana's at the top end of the strip. The food is amazing and very cheap compared to U.K
The Old Town is a shopper's paradise and it is possible to book excursions from many outlets here, but do shop around as the prices vary by a few Euro's per ticket in different places.
We booked to go on the Extreme Jeep Safari. It was worth every penny and is possibly one of the best things we've ever done. The driver/guide was simply incredible whizzing us up and down dirt roads at 60-70mph! The lunch and different stop off points were all really good too, as we were given a glimpse of the real Algarve. We spent most of the day screaming or laughing our heads off! It was fabulous but be prepared for a few bruises and it's definitely not suitable for young children.
A trip to the caves by boat is also recommended. The coastline is breathtakingly beautiful.
All in all we've had a wonderful time and would happily stay at the Lageado Sol again.

We stayed at Lageado Sol for 9 nights in September. We booked less than a month before arriving in Albufeira, and we were very limited as to what hotels were available at this short notice. We chose Lageado Sol purely based on the excellent reviews, and was left a little disappointed by our experience.

We arrived late at night, however once we had called him, Salvatore arrived very quickly to check us in. He was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. We had a couple of issues with our room, such as lights not working, and Salvatore got these sorted very promptly.

We had a studio room. This consisted of two sofa beds. We did think this may be a problem but we pushed them together and they were really comfortable. There is a small kitchen area, and this includes a hob (not great!), microwave and fridge as well as pretty much everything you would need to cook a basic meal. We had a table and chairs in the studio, as well as a basic plastic table and chairs outside on the decent sized balcony. In the bathroom there was a shower over the bath. This was really powerful, but we did have issues with hot water throughout our holiday, with it lasting around 5 minutes max.

Our room was not the cleanest on arrival, and we walked in to a very smelly room. We eventually worked out that a vent had been left open in the bathroom, resulting in some disgusting smells, but this was easily resolved. Our room never seemed to really get cleaned. Our bedding was stained when we arrived, it was changed only once during our stay, and this was after 7 days. Bins were emptied regularly, but it seemed like little else was done.

I had read in reviews about the showers leaking so was expecting this. However what we were not prepared for was the bathroom completely flooding every time we had a shower. It is not just a trickle of water. Staff are obviously aware of the situation, but rather than fixing it they have just put a manky mop in the bathroom.

The hotel is quite strict about guests not taking food and drink to the pool area. This is fair enough, and many hotels have this rule. However the bar area did not open regularly, some days not opening until lunch time (and even then it would only be open a few hours), and other days not opening at all. Even when open the bar does not sells any food, even basic snacks. I am not sure what guests are supposed to do if there are not the facilities in the hotel to buy food and drink.

The other thing we did not like was that the hotel seem to charge for everything. To use a hairdryer or iron you had to put a deposit down on 10 euros. You even had to pay a small fee for reception to book a taxi for you.

The location of the hotel is fantastic for the strip. It is around a ten minute walk, close enough to have a slow stroll down but far enough away that you don’t get any of the noise. It’s also right next to a Pingo Doce supermarket. We did find it a bit out of the way of the old town though. We timed the walk one evening and it was around 30 minutes. A taxi costs about 5 euros.

Overall we have quite a mixed opinion on the hotel. I am not sure whether we just arrived late in the season and this is why we had a bad experience, with rooms a bit tired etc. We talked to other guests and there experiences were all the same as ours, some even worse. The hotel has its good points, but there is definitely a lot that needs improving.

I stayed here at the Lageado Sol for 9 days at the beginning of September. Its sitatued perfectly for the strip and a good 20min stroll to the old town. I can't praise the staff enough, Salvatore, Cid, Marco and everyone are so friendly and can't do enough to ensure you enjoy your stay. The apartments are spotlessly clean and spacious with everything you need. The pool area is always clean and tidy, and makes for a great chill out day relaxing on the sunbeds! This hotel is excellent value for money and you would not get better for the price. I can't wait to return next year!

This hotel is sitatued perfect for the strip and also the old town. it is clean and the staff are really friendly. The only critisism would be that the bar does not open every day and also shuts very early and it does not serve food.
There is a lovely portugese restauarant abotu a five minute walk away (by the BP garage) where the food and service are excellent.
This hotel is excellent value for money as you would not get better for the price.

Room Tip: we had B2 which has a terrace overlooking the pool which was reallt nice and spacious

Just returned from a week's stay at the Lageado Sol hotel. Lovely and quiet hotel and highly recommended for service, cleanliness and location. Good value for money and excellent supermarket next to complex, which is cheap and provides quality food, drink and is open all day. Big thanks to Salvatore for welcome, induction and overall friendliness......Will definately return to Lageado Sol, 'a hidden gem' in Albuferia!!

Room Tip: "Corner suites are large and sunny"

Twice this year I have been at the Lageado Sol, june and september 2013. I went with a mate this time who seemed to have rather high standards. The TV wasn't working and was awaiting a computer rebooting on thursday, on Friday the TV needed a code which the tv company were going to call back with, on saturday an engineer came and sorted the tv out. There was a light out in the toilet and the hall and were still to be fixed when we left. We went out one day and I left the key in the room and had to phone Salvatore to come and let us in, he wasn't happy but made little of it.

The place is spotless, but we had some ants which Salvatore zapped with some killer spray. The location is ideal for the strip and a 20 minute walk to the old town.

Room Tip: one bedroomed is best
