“Excellent hotel and friendly staff”

Forte da Oura

Have just returned from a week at the Forte Da Oura and found it an excellent hotel. Had a room overlooking the pool and a sea view and was impressed with the cleanliness of the room they cleaned every day. Didnt spend much time around the pool mainly for an hour when we returned from the beach but the pool was OK and always managed to find sunbeds late in the afternoon. The walk to the beach was downhill but could be taxing on the old legs on the way back but it was worth it, but wouldnt recommend it for senior citizens with walking disabilities. We turned to the left when we got to the beach and walked as far as we could to the end of the beach, took about 8 minutes, but this end of the beach was practically deserted and we found some nice bathing spots amongst the rocks the weather was beautiful every day we were there. When the tide came in the waves were quite strong so beware with small children if you go to this end of the beach. We ate at the hotel 3 times and each time the food was excellent, they did put on entertainment every night but there is so much more to do that we didnt see any of them. Would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone who wants a nice relaxing holiday. Bus stop is right outside the hotel and is well worth visiting the old town we did a few times also visited the strip a couple of times but wasnt really our scene..

“Good hotel, near beach in toursity area”

Forte da Oura

Hotel was a good 3 star with lifts (advertises itself as a 4 star) - quiet, friendly & clean, less than 5 mins walk from a lovely beach (down a steep hill - no good if you have walking disabilities), very near range of restaurants and shops & 2 mins walk away from 'the strip' of bars & restaurants. The area is 'toursity'. Rooms good size & clean, good air con, tv with a few English channels, balcony reasonable.

TRY TO GET A ROOM OVERLOOKING THE FRONT OF THE HOTEL RATHER THAN BACK (building work going on at rear of hotel, however it wasn't very noisy & you aren't in your room much in the daytime anyway).

Breakfast is basic continental but nice & food ordered from the menu was surprisingly good, better for lunch than several local bars & cafes you might try. Family focussed eve entertainment in the hotel most nights. Pool gets very busy in summer, not enough beds, so need to get down there before 10am but its a nice atmosphere.

Would recommend this hotel if you want some quiet accomodation, near the nightlife. Bus stop directly out front of the hotel. Albufeira old town is lovely with many restaurants and entertainment in evenings, 25 mins hilly walk away or 5/10 min in a taxi. Overall really good location.

Just got back from a wonderfull holiday.I will start with accomadation first when we arrived we were put at back of the apartments which not very good view so went to reception to ask if we could have sea view and for a small charge [5 euros a day] we could but not until the next day which wasnt a problem ,the man that we dealt with was very very helpfull but i did find that with all of the staff they could not do enough for you . The room was huge with two balconys everything in there you needed and spotlessly clean, my husband and i could not believe our luck the staff work really hard to keep these apartments up to a four star standard.Albuferia itself where all the bars and restaurants are has known as the strip has plenty going on for young and old.Beach was about ten minute waik from apartments which was also nice has the weather was in the thirtys.Overall i could say one of the nicest holidays we have had and would deffinately stay in the forte da oura apartments again.

Read the reviews on this hotel and was cocerned about the building work behind the hotel, well we had nothing to fear as we could hardly hear the work and we were at the back of the hotel.
This is one of the cleanest and friendliest staff hotels we have stayed at.
The place to eat and drink is on 'the strip' this is were the nightlife is.Not like Ibiza or The Costa's.
The whole strip has plenty of restaurant's that are very good , Reno's,El Rancho,Portafino and more.
Bars like Matts bar & La Bamba are probably the best of the bars.
Will definately be returning to this resort next year

Don't believe what others have written as this is a lovely place to stop and had a wonderful time at these apartments last year. I had heard about the building work before going and when got there was put at the back where this was taking place. I also didn't hear much noise from the building work and this didn't cause any distruption to us. This is also quite close to the strip which is very good and also all the restaurants and bars. There is also a nice karoake bar called coyote and the staff in this bar are very pleasant and friendly. The apartments are nice and spacious and very clean and in general the whole place is nice and definately would consider going back there again.
