We have just returned from a week's holiday. Overall we had a fab time. The Hotel itself is lovely and the First Choice staff especially kids entertainers could not be faulted. We were there with our 2 yr old daughter and she enjoyed the creche. Activities are a bit limited for under 5s however you would expect that really. We were advised that the new pool and play area was not complete however as we did not know that this was even going to be available it did not bother us - it looks great for anyone going in a couple of months.

I have never been on this type of holiday before and perhaps expected too much, We were not all inclusive and very much felt like the poor cousins, whereas we were really the people that were going to spend more money during our trip. You have to book dinner in the Hotel (even the buffet restaurant) before 4pm which is very limiting. Our daughter was not well one evening and just wanted to get a quick bite to eat. Only possible after an argument with the Restaurant Supervisor who basically suggested we should have booked before 4 or go in to the town!
Not very practical with children involved.

Limited food during the day because of the all inclusive restaurant. burgers, chips, sandwiches, but not at the main pool - you need to go down to the smaller pool which did not make sense to me.

The Palm Buffet Restaurant is great for breakfast - only 8 EUR for non inclusive, Would def NOT go inclusive as the evening selection was very limited. Food not great and could not have eaten there every evening. The Strip is fine for food, however would recommend spending a bit more in a taxi and going to the Old Town more often. Restaurants are cheaper, more plentiful and nicer. (Bit more like Portugal than being in any other built for tourists resort such as the Strip).

Hotel food is not 4*, more like 2 or 3. If you are non inclusive, you also need to pay before you sit down!

Drinks are also quite expensive, especially when they were served in plastic cups - expect this during the day by the pool, but not in the evenings!

Supermarket on the resort, as you would expect, is expensive, I would say around double what you would pay at a local supermarket. We found a great supermarket on the way to the Old Town - only a short taxi journey away. Cost of the taxi would be more than covered in savings on shopping - even for the essentials.

Zoomarine worth a visit - great day out.

I would go on a First Choice holiday again but would not return to this resort.

One more thing - pools are freezing - hope they warm up for the Summer! (even the indoor pool!)

“Make sure your room does not overlook main road!!!”

Alto da Colina Aparthotel

May 24, 2008

We have just returned from a week all inclusive in this First Choice holiday village and I have mixed views on it. We were contacted by our travel agent 2 days before we were due to travel to tell us we MAY have a room overlooking a almost complete hotel but that they would do their upmost to ensure we didn't get such a room. WRONG! On opening our curtains we looked straight onto a building site complete with huge crane and cement lorries in and out. That was bad enough but it was also on a very busy main road with traffic hardly stopping day and night. It is the main road into Albuferia. Double glazing can only mute so much and I found it very noisy. We were in the new second block which was very nice but paper thin walls and tiled floors are very noisy especially when other guests decide to move their furniture around at 2 am!!
The all inclusive package was ok but don't expect a vast range of food! Vegetables were evident just 2 days but chips could almost be had for breakfast! The staff were very friendly and courteous.
The outdoor pools were freezing and our 2 year old grandaughter complained bitterly about this! The indoor pool wasen't much warmer either and looked as if it could do with a lick of paint.
The kids entertainment in the evening was great and the energy of the entertainers left me worn out!
All in all it was ok sadly the weather was not that good but that was no ones fault!
Would I go back? Probably not.

Just got back from the Alto Da Colina and have to say that our family had a fab time. The weather was awful and the food in the hotel restuarant was awful but the hotel itself was fab and the staff of both the hotel and First Choice was excellent. The entertainment during the day was great and even better at night. There were kids clubs but my kids didnt go although the kids of other families said they were good. We organised a few trips and we had a good time at them all especially the Zoomarine.

The hotel staff were great with the kids and bonds were forged so much so that the kids were howling when we left. I would greatly recommend the hotel to friends but hopefully they have got the food situation sorted by then! The building woks didnot bother us in the least but the new pool chutes look like they will be fab once they are finished

“Great Kids Club”

Alto da Colina Aparthotel

May 9, 2008

Just returned from 1wk stay in this hotel 2ad and 2 children and a infant and we have mixed views. First impressions was oh my god this place is fab rooms lovely and spacious and nicely decorated ,pools and playground splash pool fab. This hotel is so for kids with clubs for children between 3-5 6-8 9-15. They had loads of activities and took the children for 1 and a half hrs a time very well done i had to sign a card and bring it with me when dropping them in. When you collect them they make you sign the form and check the card for signature. They even had a creche for 0-35mthsrold for 13euro for an hr and a half. They took the children a couple of times a day. They were so great with children they could not do enough for them.
Unfortunatly on our second day the air cond broke and kept leeking water. The hotel were very bad with dealing with this prob 5 different times they came to try and fix it and even after they were told on first visit its worth fixing they just kept sending different people to try and fix it and we were asked to wait in room while with workers. The light bulb was fitted directly under the air cond and it blew this still didnt rush them. We were offered to change rooms to sisters hotel which was down the road and not nice at all even the rep told us not to move.
There was building work going on right beside the splash and childrens pool which we were not informed about prior to departure. The prices of the dinner was 65euro for 2d 2ch and you could pay 4euro in taxi down to stip and pay anything from 25-40 euro a burger was 5euro .I would recommend going all inclusive to save having to go the strip for meals. This hotel i feel opened to early its a pity as all the work the into action team do is wasted as you would not go back due to the hotels problems

“Great for familes”

For families there is entertainment all day long and through the evening. There are multiple pools and kids clubs.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable. For self catering the facilities are great.

The location is not within walkable distance during the day. In the evenings during the cooler period of the day it is still a long walk. The taxi service is not reliable, the local bus service is quite good.
