“Sadly disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013 via mobile

Not a great place to stay if you like food!
I love the Portuguese but its poor, no way a 5 star!
Food is bland, poor and rubbish. If you like poor good and being ripped off go there
Rooms are ok but not 5 star!
I wouldn't stay there again

Firstly, don't confuse with the sister hotel ("Atlantic") which is 5 mins walk away, as many on TA have done. The Atlantic is a bit newer but they both have a similar level of quality and service. Key differences:

- Atlantic is couples only, Suites is for families
- Atlantic is primarily rooms, Suites is primarily suites (surprise!)
- Atlantic is a few minutes walk to the beach, Suites is about 10 mins walk
- Both have spa and outdoor pools
- Slightly more extensive gardens at the Atlantic, but not much in it.

Had a good stay for a few nights. Easy to find driving from Faro, just the other side of Albufeira. Plenty of parking when we got there and upgraded from double room to suite on check-in (sounds like this is quite common).

Room was very spacious with two balconies, two bathrooms and two big TVs, living area and small kitchenette. Only complaints were that it would have been nice to have a sofa instead of two armchairs, the furniture on the balcony (and in many of the public areas) is made of white plastic and is not the most comfortable, and they lock the HDMI inputs on the TVs so you can't plug in things like iPads. That said, I mentioned this at reception and by the end of the day they had unlocked the TVs and we could watch movies from the iPad (we brought an HDMI cable - sad I know!)

Pool area was fine, though some of the sun loungers needed fixing\replacing. Spa was ok, but quite basic. I'd recommend you walk 5 mins and use the one at the Atlantic that has more 'spa' features (Suites just has pool, jacuzzi, sauna, etc.)

Used the restaurant one evening which was good quality food but v slow service. They got my order wrong (wrong pasta dish) but I was too hungry to wait another 40 mins for a replacement. Taking it off the bill would have been a nice (and not unreasonable) touch. Breakfast was very good though.

Overall, the hotel is a good 4-star by UK standards but I've found you usually have to take off a star in tourist areas like this anyway so it was in line with expectations and I have no complaints.

Gorgeous airy light, relaxing, peaceful spacious hotel, great for families! Upon arrival got upgraded to a deluxe family suite-wonderful!

Flaws:

1. Upon entry to Spa there was a charge of 5 Euros per head for swim caps (why?) Take your own.
2. The Jacuzzi in Relaxation spa was DIRTY and not working!
3. The Turkish steam bath out of order....(not 5 Star!)
4. Food choices in the hotel complex especially Children's menu - hideous - Burger and chips, or horrible pasta dishes!
5. The food portions for adults was same as Children's, but double the price (rip-off).
6. Recommend eating outside the complex - Chinese across the road "Grande Mundo."
7. The outdoors pools regardless of hot weather were ice cold....not good really, CS please heat the pools slightly!
They need to look at the issues above to really earn the 5 Stars...but overall a peaceful and relaxing well needed break.

Got to the hotel which i booked via hotwire.com as a "secret hotel" only to be told by arrogant and unhelpful staff that we had booked an offer for over 55's. Phoned the booking agent who knew nothing about this, had to cancel my booking and look for a last minute hotel! Thanks for nothing!!

This was our second visit to this tranquil hotel and we weren`t disappointed. The standard is very good, staff friendly, v. helpful. Rooms are fab, really good size with 2 balconies, kitchen facilities. We were family of 4 and the rooms are much better than most european standards. There is complimentary bus into old town and taxis are inexpensive. Breakfast is great as is food in restaurant. The hotel is tranquil and quietly located with a fab beach nearby. Would recommend 2 restaurants nearby - Prairie grande near the beach is absolutely fab for fish and steak. (inexpensive) Marinherio is fab for fish and steak. Great service at both. The only downside was kids club not being open and back gate needs repairing for easy access to beach. Pleased they have made internet access freely available.

Room Tip: Choos room high up overlooking pool and you`ll get view of sea.

5 adults and a baby on holiday 9 nights. clean freindly excellent rooms and facilities. lovely jacuzzi, steam room sauna, gym and indoor and outdoor pools. breakfast good variety. hotel on outskirts of albufeira. 10 quid taxi out of albufeira back to hotel. free transfers to the city available, very convenient. miss this place thank you. this hotel is suitable if you are disabled, but not if you want to go to the beach or the outside streets. the streets are all cobbled and uneven with high kerbs. terrible if you have walking problems or a wheelchair. great if you love walking.

Room Tip: book on line. all good rooms really.

Just got back from a trip to Albufeira. This hotel was fab, so clean, and the staff very friendly and efficient. The room was fabulous, a suite, the breakfast was gorgeous. We were celebrating our 25th anniversary and they gave us a bottle of champagne and strawberrys and chocolate in our room. cheers
