“Another good holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

we stayed here 5th june 2013
for 1 week on a bed and breakfast basis. This was our second year running at this hotel and again it was excellent. We were luck enough to be upgraded to a suite which was massive. The breakfast was great everything you would want from eggs and bacon to croissants and cereals toast etc. Considering the weather wasn't very good for 3 days we had a lovely break and iam sure we will be back again .

Room Tip: All rooms are nice last year we had a room at the back of the hotel which was quite 3rd floor.

Dear Guest,

There is no bigger sign of appreciation than a guest who returns and we are therefore really happy and grateful that you visited us for the second consecutive time and that you once again have had a wonderful stay with us.

Unfortunately, you were not that lucky with the weather and we sincerely hope that your next break at the Real Bellavista Hotel & SPA will be at least as enjoyable as your previous ones, but sunnier and warmer than this.

Thank you once again for your feedback and we hope that we will be able to welcome you back to the Real Bellavista soon.

Yours sincerely

Me and my husband just returned back from this hotel 9th till 16th june and found it very good infact it was excellent, the staff very friendly, the rooms clean beds made every day and clean towels daily, the food very good and good choices, the walk into town is about a 15 min but there is a free bus from this hotel that takes you to and from the old town and to the strip and beach but the taxies are cheap and cost less than 5 euros if you didn't use the bus,the entertainment was ok but could be better.having read a review about people drinking all day and throwing up we didn't see any of this we was all inclusive people was friendly and behaved with there drinking the restaurant staff was friendly yes they did take yr plate when you finished eating to give you room on table too get more food, there is a good choice of trips at this hotel and the reception staff very helpful to help out arranging them,we would definitely go back to this hotel, very clean and friendly staff...

This hotel is just far enough away from the chaos of Albufeira but within a €5 taxi ride of any part of town, from "The Strip" to "Old Town". We (4 lads a few years over 21) stayed for 3 nights for a break full of beer, sun & food (although there wasn't much sun). The rooms were clean & neat, one of our rooms was very spacious with 2 balconies overlooking pool, the other was a little small but sufficient. The breakfast was outstanding in both quality & choice. Reception couldn't be more helpful. The pool was a little small but we weren't there for that & when the sun did shine there were plenty of sun beds. Most people here were all inclusive but the prices weren't too high for those on a b&b basis (€2.50 for a pint). Overall, would highly recommend.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking pool

Thank you so much for your kind review.

We are happy that you have thoroughly enjoyed your stay with us and only regret that the weather was not as nice and pleasant as the rest of your holiday.

We really hope that you will visit us again for some more food, fun and hopefully more sun at the Real Bellavista.

As a party of 14 adults and 4 children we all were very impressed with this 4 star hotel , it has truly spoilt us ! We were booked in an other hotel 3* (auromar ) but this got cancelled due to a sickness bug ! So we were offered 10 nights here and how grateful we were :) the food was excellent and I'm quite fussy but there was some thing I enjoyed every Meal .Our room 304 was fab as was the view , all the staff worked very hard and were very pleasant , there was a mini bus that took you down to the beach etc it was a 5 min walk to the nearest shops 15 mins to the beach ! Taxi are very cheap a mini bus with 9 peeps cost €5 to the old town there were plenty of sun beds for every one would like to say a big thank you to jet 2 for relocating us to this fab hotel , yes would be great near the beach but it ain't !!

Dear Guest,

We really appreciated your kind review.

We know how high the guest’s expectations are and that it can be really disappointing for them to be relocated from the Hotel they have been looking forward to. We are therefore extremely relieved and happy that you were not disappointed with the alternative, but totally satisfied and impressed. We were also proud that everyone in your group thoroughly enjoyed his stay, as we know that it can be challenging to suit the expectations and preferences of every single member of a large group.

Thank you so much for having shared your feedback with us and we hope that the Real Bellavista will be your nº 1 choice next time you visit the Algarve.

Kind regards

Just returned from this hotel did not go there by choice but was moved there due to a bug at the hotel we had booked was told we were being upgraded to a 4* we thought great when we got there hotel looked nice room nice location was terrible up a very steep hill and nothing around the area unless you walked down the bank. Went into the restaurant for our first meal at dinner was quite good then it all went downhill fast the food was awful I wouldn't even feed the dog on it, breakfast was only just warm and as for the restaurant staff we found very unfriendly and snatched your plate before you had even put your knife and fork down and cleared the table even though we hadn't finished our meal. Mainly the hotel was all inclusive we were half board because that is what we booked in the first hotel everyone looked at you gone out as if you wernt supposed to be there when they saw that we had no bands on and consequently everyone that was all inclusive just drank all day and got drunk and threw up everywhere this has put us off going all inclusive at any time in the future. There was rubbish entertainment a man on a keyboard except for 1 night when there was a magician who was very good. Consiquently we ate out most nights and had to have a taxi everywhere because of the location would not recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: rooms at the back seem quieter

Dear Guest,

As we said before, we know how disappointing it can be for a guest to be relocated to another Hotel and we really regret that, unlike the above reviewer, we were not able to meet your expectations.
We were surprised however that one of the points that you were not pleased with was the quality of service and the friendliness of our team, since the feedback that we receive is usually extremely positive.
We were also surprised about the comment regarding the guests since it does not match the experience we have with our guests and it is certainly not true that guests are throwing out everywhere.
Still, we would like to assure you that we will stay committed to continue improving wherever we can and deliver a high quality, friendly service at all times

Kind regards

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2013

We stayed at the end of May/beginning of June 2013 in the Real Bellavista, for 10 nights B&B. We're a family of four, 2 adults and 2 kids (aged 2 & 8). Having read some of the other reviews on here, I wanted to try and give an objective view of this hotel.

Firstly, I think people need to manage their expectations of the Real Bellavista. I've travelled quite a bit and stayed in a lot of hotels (I used to work for a travel company). In my experience, people have a tendency to think 4 star hotels are going to be fantastic, far superior to what they really are, particularly on the continent where the rating system is perhaps not as stringent as it might be in the UK. 4 star is not 5 star...

The Bellavista is everything I would have expected from a 4 star hotel in Portugal. It's not and doesn't profess to be 5 star luxury. The sister hotel, the 'Grande Real Santa Eulalia Resort & Hotel Spa' which is about 15 minutes away on the beach at Oura, is 5 star. We were lucky enough to visit this hotel as our stay at the Bellavista allowed us to use the facilities and there's no doubt it is in a whole different league - if you're allowed to visit and want a day on the beach or around some lovely pool areas, make sure you take advantage of the opportunity. But what reiterates my point is this; when we checked the price difference between the two hotels, the Grande Real Santa Eulalia Resort & Hotel Spa was more than double the cost of our stay at the Bellavista. So cut your cloth according to your purse but don't complain the Bellavista isn't 5 star luxury, because it's not!

It's in a decent location, about equidistant from the 'Old Town' or 'The Strip' depending on what your preference is. We visited the Old Town a number of times and generally took the courtesy bus there and got a taxi back. Taxis are extremely reasonable generally in Albufeira and cost about 4 Euro back from the Old Town. You can walk, it's a good 20 minutes downhill and not great with a pushchair but I wouldn't recommend walking back unless you're feeling particularly energetic as it is uphill on the way back.

The hotel has a nice lobby area and a large dining room on floor -1 for breakfast plus, I imagine, the HB/FB/AI options. The breakfast was pretty decent with plenty of choice - I've had some better breakfasts but certainly had worse breakfasts in continental hotels, exactly what I would expect for a 4 star hotel. It gets a bit samey after a few days, but don't all hotel breakfasts?

All of the staff we dealt with were really friendly and helpful. We had a 'premier room' and whilst it was probably a bit smaller than I would have anticipated, it was clean, good beds (my wife found the bed a bit firm and requested a mattress topper to soften it - personally, I loved the beds). The balconies aren't huge and we were at the front of the hotel. There is a house on the corner opposite which has a number of dogs and they can be a bit of a pain in the evening. The owner leaves the dogs outside permanently and they do bark intermittently but it's not a major issue as some have suggested. Once the balcony door was closed and we wanted to sleep, we couldn't hear the dogs at all.

Our bathroom was massive, you could have had a party in it and if I was designing the rooms I would have made the bathroom smaller and room bigger but that's just personal preference. There is a shower over the bath (which is not massively wide but OK) and towels were changed every day, if required. In fact, I would make a special mention of the housekeeping staff, I thought they were excellent and particularly diligent in cleaning the room and the bathroom.

The pool is quite small and not heated. I imagine later in the season it gets warm but it wasn't very warm when we went (it was warmer than the sea though!). There were enough sunbeds when we stayed but I imagine it would get a bit congested during peak season.

We hired a car for 10 days using Luzcar (recommended on here) and they were excellent. Picked up the car from the airport (Car Park 4) and dropped off when we got our flight back. Great value and great service, would definitely recommend. We mostly spent our days out and about returning late afternoon. A notable trip was to Aquashow near Villamoura which is a joint Theme Park/Water Park. If you want a fantastic day out, particularly with kids, I can't recommend it highly enough. It was absolutely brilliant. Also to mention, my wife had one of the daily 'half price' treatment offers in the spa whilst we were staying and she felt it was good value.

I have given the overall score of 5 for this review, not because this is a 5 star resort but because it delivers what it promises, it's clean, the staff are friendly and I can't justify giving it anything less than an excellent rating. As I mentioned at the start of this review, if you want 5 star luxury this is not the hotel for you, but I felt it was good value and delivered what it promised.

Room Tip: Pool facing rooms are quieter and get more afternoon sun I imagine.

After reading several of the reviews on here prior to our holiday I was a little apprehensive about staying here but I have to say we had a lovely, relaxed and thoroughly stay here. The room was perfect with a pool view, plenty of space, clean and comfortable. The bottle of wine on our arrival was much appreciated! We were the later sitting for meals which suited us but meant we missed some of the evening entertainment as our sitting was 9pm-10.30pm. The food was good with plenty of choice but after 4 days of eating at the hotel we felt we needed something different and so we headed to the Old Town where there are numerous restaurants and bars. This was a 20 minute walk at most and we paid 5 euros for a cab back. The hotel staff were friendly, courteous and extremely helpful. The only negatives I could highlight would be the dogs barking at the back of the hotel although this was only during daytime hours and the fact you have to wear the wristbands constantly - felt like we had been tagged! We would definitely stay here again and thought it was a great central location for both the new and old towns.
