Came here after 4 nights at the Hilton Vilamoura ,Stayed 3 night and it was brillant the rooms are large and clean the bed is a monster at least 6feet wide you also get a pillow menu for what type suits you.The pool is a nice size with good sunbeds and a nice sitting area .The food is to die for both breakfast and dinner and the prices are very good 18 euros for fillet steak, wine, 12 Euros a bottle .It is a hotel for adults not children as there is nothing for them, you also need a car if you want to branch out

We visited the Algarve for the first time and booked this hotel based on the recommendations from this site.

Hotel is approx 40mins drive from the airport. We went during the off-peak season, so the hotel and surrounding area were very quiet.

On arrival we were happy withg our room, but we asked if it was possible to move to a room facing the pool. Not a problem, the staff were very accomodating.

We were totally impressed by the accomodation. No problem whatsoever. As the months go by I am sure that the area will be nicely packed... It is a bit away from the main town of Albufeira, but that's not a bad thing...

The little bar opposite the hotel is great.... Really nice manager and staff!

We would definitely recommend the hotel!

My wife and I have just returned from our short break from 22nd to 26th Feb 2008. We decided to rent a car from the airport and took 40 mins to arrive at the hotel. Lovely looking from the outside, and also from the inside. We were meet by a very pleasant receptionist and shown to our room 318 (had to ask for another as the bed was quite soft) ended up in room 206 which had lovely hard bed and pool view. The bed was at least 6ft wide which is ok if you are looking to sleep in the biggest bed in the world but it felt a bit a bit un-romantic. We had taken the break for my wife’s birthday and unannounced the hotel left a very nice bottle of champagne and strawberries for her in our room on her birthday. We were glad we hired a car from faro airport (AVIS). Ask for a discount and you will find this to be the cheapest. We paid 121 euros for the 4 days which included full insurance. As I said, we were glad of the car because of the location of the hotel (read other reviews) All in all, we had a great time and the views from the beach by the hotel are fantastic - The small restaurant at the end of the cul-de-sac by the beach (the one they have painted blue) is really really nice. I had chicken and chips with salad - my wife had chicken and rice with salad, and we enjoyed it so much we returned the next couple of nights. I am going to give this hotel 9/10 because of the extra charges, 7 euros each for the use of the sauna or jacuzzi is madness. It’s not really the money that’s the issue but the principal. If they put an extra 3 euros on the cost of the rooms per night this would cover the costs easily and you would feel that a lot more was included. Also the cost of the internet per hour (3 euros) should be included somewhere also. The more that can be included the better. The Algarve gets 10/10 for its views and beaches – we would certainly visit again. Grahame and Ruth (Colchester)

this hotel is amazing. My husband and I went for our anniversary for 5 nights 10 January.

It was so not a package holiday Algarve hotel that I would expect. We’d never been to the Algarve before and had reservations of the area being a bit Benidorm.

Gale though is exceptional. All the streets are clean and new looking and the hotel has a lovely position just metres form the sea. It’s in a residential area in a road that leads to a dead end by the sea.

The hotel is immaculate and very very well cared for. All the staff are very friendly and you can see they take pride in everything they do.

There are candles and incense sticks everywhere - it must take them ages to light them.

We were treated like royalty in the restaurant both for dinner and breakfast. The breakfast choice is exceptional. Just a few of each thing but loads of choice. We didn’t even get to try half of it.

The rooms are very large and he bed is massive. I wouldn’t say it was the most comfortable bed I've slept in but it was more comfortable than most. Definitely need to choose from the pillow menu though!

You do need a car here unless you like strolling around villas or just popping to the nearby beach (which we were told was apparently the best in the Algarve and I definitely could be as it was gorgeous). We found that we needed it or would have been bored but then we didn’t go to the other Vial Gale hotel that is nearby so may well have found something to do there. A drive in to Albufeira though is a must as you then totally appreciate the area you are staying in and how completely English and full of chips it could be in the Algarve!

Would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone and already have.

my only gripe was that they charge for everything and though not massively expensive (3 euros for a large beer and 5/6 for a cocktail) I thought that charging for tennis and to use the spa this time of the year was a bit out of order as you have no outdoor pool as its too cold to use. The gym though small was adequate and the equipment all very good.

We had a massage which for ambience and relaxation was the best I have ever had. They have really thought about how to make it as relaxing as possible and the cha served afterwards arrived on a lily pad serviette - little things like that made I special. Beware of the disposable thongs you have to wear though and they don’t seem to share our dignity when it comes to stripping off!

All in all a very very relaxing and enjoyable experience. I can’t wait to go back.
