“Poor quality - stay away !!! You've been warned...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

We booked last minute and to be honest, you get what you pay for. I'm glad we only had to endure a week at a low-grade, dated, shabby apartment complex. We had no plug for sinks in kitchen/bathroom, showerhead was a health hazard so too the fridge which we asked to be replaced. Broken furniture, chipped and dirty crockery, incomplete cooking untensils etc.Dirty and shabby pool area - all sun loungers were dirty, broken and uncomfortable as a result, pool shower was filthy and broken. Dog mess alll over the driveways too. Whatever you do, don't allow yourself to get rooms, 1,2,3,4,or 5 as they are at the busiest part of entry to the apartments - you're right next to access to lift, first floor landing staircase to all floors - so the clubbers returning at all hours from Albufeira pass by your door shouting and hollering. Very unpleasant and aggressive atmosphere at times for a complex that could try harder, and probably succeed in the family market rather than the lads and lasses drunken parties. Indifferent staff made it apparent any issues or complaints fell on deaf ears. Such a shame as the town itself is charming and family orientated, with a good variety of restaurants and activities. We'd happily return to Olhos d'Agua but not to these apartments.

Room Tip: Not to stay at these apartments - period! No fitness centre or restaurant on site to review.

I spent 2 nigth´s in this apartment´s and I got robed some one enter the apartment by the front door because all the rest was closed and probably using the key, who knows how they got it (maybe the recepcionist does???), when i went for dinner and have a drink in a very nice bar ( a Cabana) close to there this in the last nigth. In the morning when starting to pack i notest that a bag with a camera and even some sun protectors were stollen for the apartment. Try to call recpetion, phone doesn´t work, so went down there. Receptionist after telling her wath happened just told me I got to go to the police, when asking her to call them she insist on telling me I got to go there, but finnally with some effort of my part she end up calling them . Doing anything else when the police arrived I have to escort them by myself with no assistance from anyone in the hotel, or as I end up knowing (local accommodation), At the end I had been the second apartment to be roubed in one month period. I had demand to talk to the person in charge that wasn´t there at the moment, and until now after 3 months not a word from them.
So if you want my advise in case you decided to go and spent your hollidays in here be carefull very carefull with your things you may wake up one day with only your pijama.
Regarding the rest yes I agree with the other coments, the apartment was very dirty, unconfortable the couch shoul have at least 25 years, the towells were very old with holes on it.After midnigth there is no ligths outside what makes it a little scary and unsafe.
Best thing is location.

Appartments:
We stayed in the appartment on the 1st floor with a large terrace. It was very clean, a friendly cleaning lady appeared every day. She brought even new towels every day and toilett paper which we did not expect. The equipment in the kitchen was sufficient. The outside pool was very clean.
The appartments are close to the small *ecomarche* and a larger *intermarche*. There are few restaurants close by and you can reach the beach in a few minutes.

Olhos d´Agua ressort:
It is nice and quiet, mainly off season. A perfect place to relax. It is suitable rather for families and older people. If somebody likes to do lots of partying they should book a place close to the famous strip in the *new* Albufeira.

We stayed on the 3rd floor, a small studio style apartment with a private terrace and a lovely view of the ocean. The Olhos do Mar itself is located in a lovely working fishing village called Olhos D'Agua.

Plus points:
1) Clean: the studio and kitchenette was very clean, and the room was tidied daily - towels/loo paper replaced.
1) Peaceful: This small resort was incredibly quiet, and perfect to sit out on the terrace and eat breakfast/have an evening drink without any disturbance what so ever, it's set back from the main road, no traffic noise issues either.
2) Reception - polite and friendly manner - one morning the shower head just dropped off - (the water appeared to have worn away the inner stem), but we got a replacement within 10mins.
3) Location: The proximity to the small local 'ecomarche' and a larger 'intermarche' was very handy, and the beach only a few minutes walk. The nearby towns of Albufeira and Falesia are only 10-15mins by a reasonably regular bus service, the bus stops are less than 5mins walk from the apartments. The village of Olhos d'Agua itself, is just perfect for a few days of relaxation at the beach. Some lovely restaurants and bars all within walking distance - the whole village just feels very relaxed, friendly and safe.

Problems:
1) No air con - and the room was extremely warm at the end of each day (probably due to the hot water tanks we discovered next door on day two) however there is a fan which was adequate
2) Self catering - the grill oven, but only the grill facility worked which made self catering difficult (there is a separate two ring electric hob which was fine)- however plenty of local eateries at reasonable prices available. The fridge would periodically 'rattle' every 2-3hrs which may annoy lighter sleepers.
3) Security- the reception closes at 8pm - there are side steps into the building, and a lift to all floors - there is a small side gate which allows you to enter the terrace in front of the studio apartment. The front access to the studio is a single glazed glass door (bottom half is metal) felt a little worried at first that someone could just smash in the window and jump in. A metal safe, which is bolted to the floor can be used - but this cost an extra 10 euro for a week.
4) Twin beds - this is a general lesson learned, don't assume two single beds will easily combine to make a double....

It's a shame that the resort itself feels out dated and tired - ok for young singles/couples/groups on a budget, there is a small pool, but it didn't look filtered, and really with the beach just a few minutes away, why bother. We really just wanted a quiet base near the beach, and without the typical resort feel of nightly entertainment and sitting round a pool all day. During the few days we were in the village, we discovered plenty of other resorts that looked much better presented - Olhos D'Agua and Oceanus Apartments and we will be exploring those options next time round.

arrived to find a friendly english speaking receptionist. the apartment was spacious with a lovely bath/shower. very clean with towels provided. pool was sparkling clean, plenty of sun loungers and some very friendly cats. one ginger one had been in the wars (bless him)....look out for a moggy with a wonky head and funny eye...he is hilarious and likes ham!

thoroughly recommend as a good value place to stay in a very central location, though quiet enough to chill round the pool. no traffic noise and 2 mins from intermarche. brava!

arrived back today from these apartments with mixed views. The apartments themselves were great, just been done up, very large, with seperate kitchen and large balcony. The main problem was the reception only opened certain hours and of coarse we arrived outside these hours! None speaking english staff and the bar which never opened once even though its high season! ther was 1 day (saturday) when 2 blokes stood by the pool selling lager with a portable radio and called it a beer party! no entertainment which we didnt mind because we went for a long weekend break. overall a nice base for a long weekend but not for families or anyone wanting to be entertained. Oh and the lads next door partied til 4am on a daily basies!!!!!!! something which is pot luck, but after complaining twice without success found out they were the relatives of the guy on reception! the apartments like i say were great, but beware if going in high season there no air con!

  • Liked — nice spacious rooms and large balcony
  • Disliked — no bar, no reception, small lift which just held 1 buggy and 1 human at a push

Found these apartments to be terrible. Have never left any comments on this website but would hate for people to go here with the wrong reviews. We arrived at 11:30pm and the reception was closed, even though there was an emergency number which we called several times there was no answer, we left numerous messages and a note but did not recieve a call back. On calling the number again at 6am we finally checked in. With no apology or explaination. We had gone to the resturante next door to ask for help and the receptionist whom lives in the apts came done and seen our note at 11:35pm with 2 mobile numbers on it and choose not to call us. First impression on the apt was that it was spacious with large balconies. The apt was dirty with dirty furniture, fility dirty shower curtain, and dirty uncleaned extermely basic swiming pool. On Wednesday we checked out 4 days early and where not asked by reception why were were leaving early or if there was a problem. These apartments are by no means 3 star accomodation I have stayed in better hostels than this. This really but a dampner on the holiday as we could and did not relax until we moved. We moved to the Oceanus which I would highy recommend. With Paula on reception being so helpful and nice. I would advise anyone to go to Olhos de Agua as it is beautiful but not to stay in Olhos do Mar.
