“Beautiful Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2008

We stayed at the Brisa Sol February 19-27, 2007 and enjoyed it very much. We paid $707 CAD pp for flight/hotel for 8 nights. A great buy!!!! I had been meaning to do this recap when I got back last year but got too busy. Now that I am planning another trip I decided to come back and give a review. I know that the good reviews here were instrumental in our choosing this locale.

When we arrived we were greeted by friendly welcoming staff. There was a bit of a wait for our room but it was no problem to wait in the comfortable lobby after the long ride from the airport. We were pleased with the spacious room with a great pool view (see pics). The sun exposure was amazing and brightened the apartment. The pool view is definitely worth it. The room was very clean and neat. It had 2 twin beds in the master bedroom and 2 beds in the living room which doubled as couches. There were separate temperature controls for each area which was nice. However the a/c unit was quite noisy. The kitchenette was well stocked with dishes, silverware, pots, glasses, toaster, microwave, small fridge, freezer, stove and sink.

There were large closets in the main bedroom with a safety deposit box which cost 10€. There was no wireless internet and I had my laptop so I went across the street to the NetKafé. It was 1.5€ for half an hour, as opposed to 1€ for 10 min at the hotel in the basement on an ancient computer. It would be nice if they could refurbish the rooms to make it more updated.

The bathroom was large but had a weird handheld shower that splashed all over the place. It was very awkward. Another issue was the water shortage. There was no water for almost 24 hours! Apparently a water main broke in town due to the city doing a repair on the pipes. That was not cool. We ended up buying bottled water next door at the supermarket. And we went out to eat.

The food at the hotel was excellent! We had the buffet breakfast for 10€ which included bacon, eggs, sausage, ham, beans, croissants, toast, pastries, various cheeses, yogurt, fruit salad, pineapple, peaches, orange and pineapple juice, coffee tea and hot chocolate. Dinner buffet was 15€ with the menu posted each day in the elevator. We ordered in Chinese food for dinner one night- Jing Dho had fast delivery, hot food, good prices and delicious cooking. Skip the pizza place across the street. The food was horrible! It was all you can eat and we did not even order seconds. McDonald’s across the street was good for a cheap snack.

We booked a trip to France at the travel agency across the street in the corner behind the shops. Good service. Shopping was great in Old Town… I ended up having to buy an extra suitcase from the market. The deals were better than the new strip. Excursions are cheaper there too. Book there instead of at the hotel (eg. daytrip to Silves). We used the trolley and it was well worth it- 3€ for a day pass. There were 3 stops and you could get on and off. The weather was sunny and beautiful for the end of February. It even got up to 21ºC. The range was 18-21ºC and people were sunning by the pool and a few even swam.

The staff was wonderfully friendly and helpful and we would go back in a minute! Just reading over my travel journal is bringing back beautiful memories. If you have any questions you can email me.

Loved the place. Very clean, polite friendly staff all speaking good english. Good food on 1/2 borad. Booked appartment not studio so plenty of space / kitchenette etc and balcony looking over pool to sea. Games room being updated so out of use but back soon. Excellent for all parts of town with road train stopping outside. Will go back.

We have just returned from a wonderful week at the Brisa Sol in Albufeira. We had a pool and sea view from our apartment balcony, well worth requesting to enjoy the fantastic sunsets.
Every part of the hotel was exceptionally clean, staff very friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble for them. The breakfast buffet was always well stocked with plenty of variety to suit all tastes. Indoor pool, Sauna and Jacuzzi, Games room, Gym all well kept.
Supermarket /Mall is right next door, as is the most "fantastic" cake shop, not too be missed, they are delicious.
We would definately recommend this hotel for its superb location to the Old and New Town all within easy walking distance. also beaches, bars and restaurants, especially "Tasca's" in Tunnel Road, (Old Town), nicely priced and very good service..especally the free port!!!!!.
For the "adventurous", take a walk from Fisherman's beach to Prai de Oura, with sensible shoes on, long but beautiful walk, you will arrive and need a well earned drink, but keep walking past the bars on the beach they are expensive, got to BJ's, just around the corner towards supermarket, cheaper and you wont be ripped off.
All in all we had sunshine, good service, peaceful days and we highly recommend Brisa Sol. We will be back, sooner rather than later, we hope you enjoy your holiday as much as we did.

We stayed at The Brisa Sol from the 26/12 - 1/1 had a good time. the hotel rooms were fantastic - i would certanly book a pool view room though as the view we had was not fab!
The food was adequate not loads of choice but the quality was great, there was plenty of selection for breakfast.

Lcoation fine - there was a mini train that went from outside the hotel that did a round trip of albufeira, its all a bit spread out i prefer Vilamoura! which can be easily accessed by bus just up the road from the Brisa Sol.

Go - try it and see what you think - - ideal for people that wish to walk to things!

This was our second Xmas at Brisa Sol and we were really looking forward to it as last year was brilliant. This year not so brilliant. The big let down was the Christmas Night buffet which was awful and the food had all but disappeared by the time some people came down to eat - it did not seem to get replenished and in the end we were helping ourselves to wine!
The rooms as usual were lovely and we had the same room as last year but we were surprised that when we arrived there were no sun loungers out by the pool and the pool had no water in it but that was soon rectified.
The other disappointment was that the barman is still there and that the bar was more like a sports bar than a hotel bar. If only they had a quiet area but three TV screens in a small bar is not on after all there are people who don't want to watch back to back football! All in all a good stay but not as good as 2006

stayed here for a week to celebrate new year in albuferia'a old town and i would recommend this accomodation to anyone. The rooms are the biggest and best standard self catering rooms i've ever stayed in - beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean due to daily maid service and excellent facilities in the kitchenettes including a microwave which was really handy.
There is a gorgeous spacious pool area and also an indoor pool, games room, internet etc.
the reception staff and maids at brisa sol were the most friendly of anywhere ive stayed.
the location of the apartments is good halfway between the old and new towns although the resort itself is hilly and its best to get taxis which cost only €4 to either town.
all in all we had an excellent time and would not hesitate to come back.
On the negative side as a resort Albufeira was more expensive than any other lively beach resort Ive been to and i've been to most in europe.
