“10 Fabulous days at this Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2014

When my wife and I arrived at around midday on 28th April we were met by a very pleasant and helpful man, Paulo Guerreiro, who checked us in. When we got to our room we were amazed at the size, the view, the decor, in fact everything. It has been very cleverly designed because to get to our room and the pool area you actually go under the road in a tunnel that has a lot of of really old photos of Albufeira, then in a lift to the 1st floor to some rooms and the pool, you then transfer to another lift to get to the 4th floor, it is all very unique and interesting. The Hotel on the whole was very quiet, which suits us, and although on the top of a hill with a steep climb, it is definately in a very nice quiet area, well away from 'the hooting and roaring' of parts of the old town. Once down the hill the beach was very nice and not too crowded, with several places nearby to have a spot of lunch. On the two or three days that we stayed by the pool, there was never a problem in finding sunbeds. We had booked bed and breakfast, however as we are both in our 70's one trip per day up and down the hill was enough, and the hotel offered a very good discounted price for dinner (11.25 euros) which we did most nights. The quality of the food was excellent, also the selection of wines was good, each night was different, starting with a really nice soup, and there was always a lovely fish dish. Puddings and ice creams were delicious. What made it even nicer was the staff, Elisa, Ana, Edourdo and all the other staff were so nice, and could not do enoughfor us - so much so it was sad to say good-bye. Another added bonus was the fact that on 9 of the 10 nights we were there, there was entertainment in the lounge bar. Throughout the Hotel, the staff were always smiling and helpful, and reception staff were very efficient and pleasant. To sum up, we cannot recommend this Hotel highly enough, and we will definately return (not this year as we have too much on) next year. We would like to say a big thank you for making our ten days so enjoyable.

Room Tip: Talk to the Hotel before you arrive, they are extremely helpful and accommodating. Rooms on 4th floo...

How fabulous was this hotel. Answer, very.can't wait to return. The hotel was clean, the food was delicious ,the rooms top notch, and the staff second to none. They made our holiday brilliant . Yes the hotel is high up, but 5minutes down to the beach but 20 back up, but a small price to pay all things considered . If you are a little dodgy walking a bus will regularly oblige ,at a small fee. They run right passed the hotel.10 out of 10 for me .

Room Tip: We had a sea view , but a room with a view of the pool was equally as good.

Cant think of any negatives at all, based on the expectation of a relatively cheap deal.
Room was really nice, all in working order and cleaned each day. We asked for sea view and got it with room 1.
The outside pool area was nice to relax around.
I liked the fact it wasn't a high rise stack of apartments, just two stories high.
Breakfast, very good selection of meats, cheese, lovely bread, fry up items, fruit and cereal.
Dinner, was like good school dinners (not from 1950s). different every night and enough choice to keep it interesting. Chicken, pork, lamb, fish were all covered, and great selection of interesting salads.
The staff couldn't be faulted in our stay either, really friendly and helpful.
The walk up from the beach IS steep, fine for most but not attractive more than once a day!
Close to town, around 10 mins really.
oh, and they have 3 resident cats! not just strays that wonder in, but they actually live there. a bonus for me.

Room Tip: Rooms 1 to 3 have sea views, but nearer the kitchen!

If you want a hotel where every floor and room looks the same, then avoid this hotel. I loved the individual decorative touches in the public areas, especially the totally unexpected bust on a plinth behind a waterfall at the end of a corridor and the old polished prices of furniture dotted around. The rooms however were dated. Staff were excellent. Breakfast was buffet style, with sausage, scrambled egg, bacon and beans every day. Lovely fresh breads and some cold meats, cheeses and yoghurt and fruit. Coffee was excellent. Dinner was good, with at least three main choices and soup and yummy desserts. The location of the hotel was just right, a mere five minutes walk from the old town. Take ten minutes coming back as it is on a hill. And yes, there is a school next door, and real people living in real houses. On the other side of Albufiera is 'the strip' with big hotels and strips of bars and eating places built specially for tourists.

Room Tip: I was given room 204 as I had asked for a room with evening sun. It overlooked the car park and was...

Hi all this is my first ever review and my stay has compelled me to join trip advisor and write a review and from now on check all hotels etc- We returned home Saturday 26.4.2014 after a week in this hotel. This was our first time in Portugal and we are a couple in our mid 40s and young at heart ;-) - firstly the positives, our room was clean and we had a large room with a super king bed and this was made up every day, towels were changed most days. We were on the first floor in room 5 and this had a fantastic large balcony ( we paid for a sea view room when booking ) we also had an extra room with a sofa and a Sony flat screen TV, decent bath and a shower ! This room gave us great views of the sea and it was a sun trap on the balcony where we had the sun all day from 8am until about 18:30 when the sun dropped behind the hotel. Sorry but that's about all on the positives as this hotel was cat and dog friendly and there were 4 or so cats hanging around reception all the time and in the room next to us #4 guests had a dog in the room and there were a few more dogs while we were there ! The food was not very nice at all and not to our liking ! we paid for half board and after the second night we did not eat there again for an evening meal and only went down for breakfast to have some toast as the choice and quality in general was very poor ! We would not return to this hotel and in our opinion this hotel is far from a 4 star !
Albufeira - old town was great for food, drink and live music and we really enjoyed it !

Room Tip: Room number 5 was like a double family room with a very large sunny all day balcony but you have to...

We were disappointed in many aspects of this hotel after reading reviews before we went.
The hotel was very quiet yet we were allocated the smallest double room we have ever been in with a very small balcony. The bathroom was tiny but had a big corner bath which meant the toilet itself was fitted into the tiniest of spaces...pity anyone more than a size 12!
The information folder in the room advised that towels were changed three times per week, but I had to complain before getting fresh towels and they were then changed every day!
There were notices telling guests that they should ensure their clothes, underwear and footwear were tidily stored to enable maids to provide good service. Despite making sure all surfaces were clear, our maid never swept the floor or wiped down the dressing table or cleaned the ashtray on the balcony. On our first day, we came back to the hotel at around 4.30 pm to find the maid had not been and I had to go and find her. She then did the absolute minimum not even making the bed properly. We eventually asked if our room could be done in the morning which we were told it would be (we like to use our balcony in the afternoons but not if the maid is still to come). The earliest the maid came was just before 3 pm!

The choice of food was very limited, although what was there was of a good quality and well cooked. The same things appeared time and again with absolutely no variety at breakfast. Desserts in the evening were boring and repeated often.
Would we stay here again? Absolutely not!

Room Tip: Avoid room 301. It is absolutely tiny

Arrived in faro to rain like I had never experienced before in my life . Unbelievable and disappointing ...
Our transfer company yellowfish taxis were excellent . It was raining so much he left us under shelter and went to collect the car for us , he was soaked when be collected us , but really pleasant we felt so bad . He didn't appear bothered , chatted about the area and our hotel and was honest to say it was to be bad tomorrow so enjoy indoor entertainment don't venture to far . He was right the day started good but the rain cme again heavy.. We thought this was a great service and souls recommend them and recommend them to anyone traveling to the Algarve.
The hotel is lovely too . A little dated , but quaint , had lots of reflections of old Albufeira.
It's family owned and has a lovely familiar feel to it , the staff are lovely .
We like he old this it's quite big actually lots of areas to discover be a gorgeous beach .
From the hotel the view of the beach is very pretty .
We didn't try the pool as it was too chilly but then again it was march .
When the rain passed it was actually very pleasant wether
