“Great Week!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

We spent a week at Auramar Beach Resort in October 2012 and had a great week! We booked it as a last minute deal as it was fairly cheap for all inclusive.

On arrival at the airport it was raining heavily and we were delayed waiting for the transfer and therefore arrived at the hotel later than we had planned but this was no issue. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and we were checked in and shown to our room in no time. When we got in to our room the curtains were closed and as we were on a low floor we assumed we didn't have a great view but when we opened the curtains we had a stunning sea view!

Breakfast was served in the panoramic sea view restaurant and had a great selection of both hot foods and cereals, yoghurts etc. There were machines for both hot drinks and fruit juices which were nice however they did tend to be either really concentrated or really watered down which I think was just a problem with the machines.

Lunch was served in the poolside bar which is where you could get drinks from 11am. Again there was a decent selection of foods which generally had something a bit different each day. There was also a few different types off pudding and ice cream was available throughout the day.

The evening meal was served in the restaurant and the dress code was smart/casual with no shorts. This made the restaurant a lovely place to spend the evening where you could watch the sunset while eating the food. Again great selection and they had a different main food on each night e.g they had piri piri pork, duck, seafood paella etc. Drinks were brought to the table by the staff, wine was served by the carafe, sangria by the jug and soft drinks were available too!

Having read the reviews we weren't expecting the drinks to be great as we had read that they were watered down. This was definitely not the case! There was a choice of 4 cocktails on the menu, we would recommend the Vodka sun or Pina colada! If ordering spirits with mixers if anything they were too strong, far from watered down! The soft drinks were served out of the bottles by the bar which did mean they were flat at times but nothing too major! In the evenings there was a nice entertainment area. There was a menu in the evening bar where you could order different spirits or cocktails. We chose an Algarve colada and a Pink Butterfly, both were great!

The hotel was in a great location, it was close to the beach and just a short walk into the new town where there were plenty of shops, bars a restaurants. The path to the beach wasn't the easiest and I imagine it would be difficult for the less able or elderly. Whilst on the topic of access there were a lot of steps at the hotel which we didn't really find an issue but again may have been difficult.

There were two pool, one indoor which was gorgeous and warm but was generally full of children and an outdoor pool which we should warn you now was FREEZING! but lovely when you were in.

The hotel ran a bus service to and from the old town a few times a day which was a lovely few hours, again there were lovely shops, bars and eateries. It is a only a short walk along the beach to get there and back too if you fancy a beach walk!

The staff were great and were always willing to help and were friendly. The rooms were cleaned everyday to a high standard. As it was Scott's birthday when we were there they left a birthday cake in the room without us even mentioning it to anyone!

All in all a fantastic week in a great hotel which was good value, would definitely recommend!

Good service, meals self service but good choice mainly. Fish dishes are to die for and I could not taste horse meat in the Hamburgers(?).
Room was much as expected with TV, a very good shower, fridge, cups and ice tray provided. Chambermaid service was very good even though some days it was a later in the afternoon. Maids themselves very helpful.
Staff in restaurant, Lounge and the Pool bar were very efficient. Reception staff were very courteous and helpful.
Hair dryers are provided on request but a refundable deposit is requested.
Access to the beach is just outside the complex and much of the complex overlooks the beach. It is just a half hour walk to the Old Town along the beach but the hotel provide an efficient courtesy bus to and from the centre.
The only slightly negative aspect was when some of the guests were less than polite to staff.
We did not have occasion to use the fitness or room service facilities so cannot give these a rating.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a sunny balcony.

Just returned from 7 night stay, was a bit worried following previous negative reviews but was pleasantly surprised . My husband and I and our friends had a lovely relaxing week yes the hotel was tired and maybe needs updating but value for money we enjoyed the all inclusive deal. Plastic cups in the evening was not ideal and not being able to have a coffee after evening meal . We did feel sorry for some elderly people with mobility problems because of the stepson but the location of the hotel was super . Why people find so many faults with this hotel I don't know.

On arriving at the hotel we were greeted by a friendly smiling receptionist who gave us information about the hotel and took a 10 euro deposit for the room key which you do get back on departure as long as you present the receipt they give you on arrival. We were then taken to the room by another member of staff who helped with the cases and on arriving at the room we found that it was a good size room and very clean but as with much of the hotel a little dated and could do with a lick of paint hear and there.
On exploring the hotel after settling in i found all areas to be very clean as i did for the whole stay and the first thing that did come to mind was how many steps there was which i would be a problem for anybody with walking difficulties or who was in a wheel chair.
Breakfast and dinner are served in the main restaurant but lunch is served in the snack bar which is next to the main pool at the bottom of the hotel overlooking the sea and beach which is more like a canteen and is where you get all your drinks from during the day up to 5.00pm and after that they are served from the dancing bar till 11.00pm. All the staff in the restaurant and who worked behind the bars were all very friendly and polite and i found the food to be ok and always warm although if you are a fussy eater you may struggle on occasions to find something to eat but as i said before not a problem for myself.
The service in the restaurant was good and the staff were quick to clear any dirty plates from your table which it looks like the hotel have improved on going off earlier reviews.
The hotel evening entertainment which is held in the dancing bar to be honest is not the best and during our stay we had a parrot show karioke and a local who brought some reptiles in to show and the rest of the time is was a person on an organ playing music.
The hotel offers a free courtesy bus from the hotel to the old town at 10am,12.00 and 4pm but if you like walking then the walk along the beach from the hotel to the old town is much better and takes about 20 minutes plus the views are much better.
My only negative comment with this hotel is using the snack bar for lunches rather than the main restaurant due to the fact that the hotel is a large hotel and the snack bar is not the biggest inside although there are tables outside but there are also seagulls which on several occasions during our stay were swooping down to take food off peoples trays while eating or carrying their food out of the snack bar to an outside table.
I do hope the hotel review this because as i said before this is my only negative with this hotel and overall i would recommend this hotel and stay here again, so well done to all the staff at this hotel for all their hard work and for making my stay here an enjoyable one.

Having read previous reviews,I find it hard to complain about any aspect of the hotel. We travelled on a 4 night deal and to consider the cost we paid for the break, the value was second to none. All inclusive basis. The food was varied and plentiful, always having a local dish to sample.Rooms are adequate and very large with predominantly sea views. My only issue would be plastic glasses in the evenings which sours the taste of a G and T in my view...but Hey ho if thats my only gripe so be it....excellent well presented hotel and very good value for money.

Room Tip: C block and d block high level rooms wonderful views.

Went there on 10th feb ( sunday night ) after a 2 hour delay with the flight we arrived 1.30 am receptionist looked about as cheerfull as i felt .
next morning went down for breakfast all was fine , and then off to explore all public areas were clean and well maintained ( if a little dated) pool areas were good but then you get to magnificent views , and then all the niggley bits fade away .
This hotel has the best location of any hotel i have EVER ! stopped in, miles of perfect sandy beach & crashing waves .
worth the money on its own ,
by the way i dont consider bbc world news satalite tv in the rooms .
all good at the Auramar but the view made it fantastic ,

Room Tip: sea view is a must
