“First Class Package”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

Here end of May 13 having been collected at Faro airport by very dependable Yellowfish transfers (Very reliable & prompt & will definitely use again). Booked 1 bed superior with sea view and was not disappointed. Absolutely first class...place spotless (grounds & building) & all staff very courteous & obliging. Would definitely be the first accommodation i check out for availability should i return to Albuferia.

Room Tip: Rooms with Sea View & huge Balcony

Absoulutely brilliant hotel, really friendly staff, clean and tidy. We came back last night from a week at the alfargar ll. Would reccomand this aparthotel to anybody. The only downside was that we stayed in apartment 2 217, great views of the sea and gardens but the cleaner who was staying in the apartment above was up early and very noisy, her dogs would bark early in the morning, then her sibling would start bouncing a ball about 7.30am every day. Apart from this apartment I would give this 10/10.

Room Tip: Stay away from 2 217

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Alfagar 11 Aparthotel and it was fantastic! I stayed there with my husband and 2 daughters (aged 7 and 3) The staff were very friendly and professional and nothing was too much trouble. My daughter wet the bed the first night we stayed, and when I went to ask for clean sheets in the morning, someone came straight away and took the wet sheets away and made the bed for us. The hotel was constantly being cleaned and kept tidy and all the pool areas were washed down and cleaned every morning. We stayed half board and the food in the restaurant was lovely. There was plenty of choice for breakfast, including cereal, toast, continental breakfast and full English. Both breakfast and dinner were buffet style and the waiters were very efficient at clearing away dirty dishes while you went to help yourself to more food! The dinner was also varied, including several different local style dishes each evening, as well as pizza, pasta, chicken nuggets etc for the less adventurous! The pools were great and there was plenty of choice either in the newer Alfagar 11 complex or the neighbouring Alfagar 1. The kids loved the water slides too. Alfagar 11 is the newer part and has newer sunbeds etc, but the village (Alfagar 1) is still very clean and tidy on the outside. I can't comment on the interior, as we didn't stay there. The on site supermarket is well stocked and reasonably priced and there are several bars/cafes on site too, all serving well priced food and drink. The only slightly negative comment would be that the sofa bed was a bit hard and the bottom part slipped a bit on the tiled floor! All in all a great place to stay whatever age you are and whether you're taking children or not! I would definitely stay there again! Lastly, although not strictly about the hotel, I just want to mention the transfer company we used. They are called Yellowfish transfers and they were very efficient and professional, as well as reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend them for your transfer in the Algarve!

Room Tip: Our apartment was very spacious, but someone in a corner apartment said theirs was even more spaciou...

We are just back from an 8 day holiday at this resort and we all really enjoyed our stay at the Alfagar 2. First impressions that hit you are how clean and well kept the whole complex is. You would constantly see cleaners, gardners etc busy at their work and the place is a credit to them. The facilities for children are excellent.
There was an inside pool for the cooler days which the kids loved, a brilliant football pitch to keep them occupied in the evenings and little playgrounds well placed beside 2 bars so the adults were happy as well as the kids. My 2 children (aged 7 + 9) loved all the pools. Obviously the big lagoon pool was a big hit but they also loved the more sheltered pool beside the village bar and the scenic pool overlooking the fabulous beach.
The on-site supermarket is very well stocked and keenly priced. It is very handy for making rolls etc at lunch and the staff are very pleasant.
I did find the bars in the complex quite expensive €3.50 seems a bit excessive for a plate of chips and €7.50 for a cocktail is extreme considering i had an amazing cocktail in the 5 star Casino hotel overlooking the beach in Praia da Rocha for €5 (including complementary nibbles ) the previous year. However, that would really be the only negative I could say about the resort.

The area surrounding the hotel is quiet which suited us. It doesnt take long to walk into Albuferia or a taxi is around €5. We did not really like the 'Strip' part of Albuferia at all. Walking up it one day at 3pm we encountered loads of drunk stags and hens which can be quite intimidating for small children so we stayed clear after that. Old town was a bit better but still loads of people pestering you to dine or drink which can get teadious after a while. Our favourite place to frequent was Olhos D Agua which is only a 15 min walk to the right when you leave the hotel. It is a lovely fishing village with many lovely restaraunts and a Intermarche if you need additional grocercies. We stuck to Olhos and would highly recommend it.

The apartments of Alfagar are lovely. Extremely clean, full of amenties (except a washing machine) and very large balconys. We got a corner apartment overlooking the pool and it was stunning. I could happily have sat out there every evening with a glass of wine. The maid service is very good and the staff throughout the whole complex are very friendly.

This is a lovely part of the world and the people are very friendly. We used Yellow Fish transfers and cannot recommend them highly enough. They were very professional, punctual and friendly and very competitive.

Overall I would highly recommend this resort for families and we cannot wait to return!

Room Tip: Get a corner room on the east side where you will get sun for most of the day. Visit Fratellis In O...

Just spent 4 days in this hotel and it is a wee gem in The Algarve, we having been holidaying in and around the Albufeira area for over 10 years and I.m glad to be going back to this hotel in the Autumn. The rooms are so clean and well laid out with large balcony area with your own private sun loungers, warm friendly staff, the pool area is laid out really well and the grounds and garden areas are beautiful and well maintained. There is a small pool area with it's own water slides like a mini fun park for the kids..super addition.Free football pitch shop and restaurants throughout the village grounds which are lovely to walk through on your way down to beach.
One small criticism is there is no Wi-Fi in the main hotel and most people have to go down to bar/ restaurant in the village grounds to get a connection of sorts which isn't hat strong, apart from that we are going back and can't wait.

Myself and my wide and our 15 month old Son stayed for a week in may.We found the location of the hotel good, it's 15 min walk to the strip or 10 mins in a taxi to the old town, about €8,it costs 50cents to get reception to call one.we found the old town much nicer with nice restaurants. The rooms in hotel were huge with everything you need for self catering, the only complaint I have we're the beds were rock hard and uncomfortable, the rooms were cleaned 5 of the 7days we were there. The entertainment at night was ok but not really generated to the younger people. All the staff were very friendly and I'd have no problem returning again.

Just returned from Alfagar II having spent 2 wonderful weeks there (11th-25th May). We (2 Adults & 2 kids, 4 &2) all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We upgraded to a superior seaview 1 bed apartment on arrival and it was well worth the money. Our apartment was on the top floor, was very spacious and well equipped. The complex is spotless, the cleaning staff could be seen each morning working away. There are several pools all of which we enjoyed even though they were a bit cold but they did warm up towards the end of our 2nd week (we stayed 11th - 25th May). There are a good few steps to the beach, but thankfully it was well worth it as the beach was lovely. We didn't spend much time in the new town but did venture to the Old town and found very tasty restaurants at the beachfront. The main square was annoying with all the restaurants competing to get you in their doors. Olhos d'Agua was beautiful and very chilled, we'd highly recommend it. Zoomarine is also well worth a trip, it's very organized and we found it reasonably priced. We enjoyed our stay so much that we are already planning our return trip.

Room Tip: Upgrade to superior seaview. Pools can be cold in May so bring wetsuits for kids.
