It's not every night that you have the opportunity to dine at a 2starred Michelin restaurant so jumped at the chance whilst staying at nearby Alvor. Pre booking is essential as is a full wallet. The hotel/Restaurant is beautifully situated with well manicured grounds overlooking the ocean. However the gated entrance is not easy to find and staff are somewhat slow to open up. Once inside the opulence of the place is obvious, with well appointed table settings and armies of very smart staff dressed in traditional Algarvan attire. The meal consists of six courses with the occasional "surprise" in between. The presentation is superb as is the quality, the portions as you might expect are bordering on the minuscule. The wine list is presented in electronic format and is expensive at least 50 Euros a bottle. The total bill for myself and my wife was 459 Euros (1bottle of wine + 1 bottle of water) the basic price was169 Euros per person I thought that a cup of coffee might have been included but it wasn't 't !! A special night but not to be repeated very often unless you possess unlimited resources.
