“Nice town quiet almost boring hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2009

Nice wiew over old Albufeira. Great kitchen with everything you need. Lousy beds. The poolarea was ok but the sunbeds were sometimes broken, the parasolls were not so many and could not be moved, not so crowded by the pool but the area was small. Not so much to offer in the poolbar and you had to wait around 30 minutes to get a toast!
No activities during day or night, very boring for teenagers.
5 minutes to town but very big steps so it felt more like 200 than 100 but it was ok to walk. The shop is across the road and have water but not even cold softdrinks. Not much to buy. About 10 minutes walk to a great Lidl. Not many places in town to buy food, an Ali Super near the beach.
Around 4 euro for taxi to new Albufeira. Bus to town/beach 10, 14, 16.30 and 18.00. Took only 9 persons. Tennis cost 5 euros per person and hour and with lousy rackets (only 3) and balls. Closed around 7 (When it was cold enough to play). Free nice gym. Expensive treatments at the spa.
Great shoppingcenter Algarve shopping 10 minutes with taxi (8 euro). Nice restaurants by the beach, not so good around the square.

Nice pool area.
Pool bar with cheap prices, e.g. coffee, hamburgers.

Only minus is reception staff: very arrogant

We have just returned from this beautiful Hotel. The 2 bed apartment is one of the best I have stayed in. BUT the service is terrible. The lady that was in charge of room allocations never read the one request that was we put on all our reservations ie that we could be on the same floor. We had reserved 4 apartments. This lady just shrugged didn't even apologise. The staff were really not managed properly. The waiter in the restaurant nearly died when we all arrived for dinner, he told us it was possible to order and collect our dinners !!!! The waitress at the bar closed at 11pm she was tired and her working day was very long !! The Hotel information pack said the bar closed at 12am or 1am in peak season, we gave up and had drinks on our balconies and took it in turn to cook meals or ate in the pretty village . Bring good walking shoes the hotel is beside the old town is down very steep steps but lovely. In a recession or not good staff bring in much needed revenue the management need to wake up the customer service was a disgrace

Loved the hotel, we were up-graded to the gardens hotel 4* and the apartments were great. Bedroom with a balcony, fitted kitchen with a washing machine and a dishwasher, even had BBC1 on the satelite T.V. The bathroom was basic, bath was very small. The old town is gorgeous, we have been before and stayed in the Cerro Malpique. New Year was busy, lots of Portugeuse boys booking in for the night for parties, but our apartment was away from theirs. There are 104 steps down to the square, where you have to visit Bravo's restaurant - great steak house. Look forward to reading more reviews.
