“Beautiful hotel and wonderful staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

Just left this hotel this morning after the most wonderful relaxing week my wife and i have had abroad
We were celebrating our first wedding anniversary and the hotel put a bottle of champagne and chocolate fountain in our room on arrival to congratulate us which was a lovely gesture...
Marina(receptionist) checked us in on arrival which was a bit slow but this was down to possibly a member of staff been on there break...We were designated room 434 which was an upgrade(very spacious with lovely views of the sea and also of Albufeira)..The room was cleaned every day upto a very high standard by Moldovan lady who also spoke a bit of English

Onto the food - Breakfast was very good everyday including the ORANGE JUICE which was extremely orangey..We also had the a la carte menu in the restaurant a couple of time and this was also a very high standard(we didnt have the buffet menu but this also looked very good)

All the staff in all areas of the hotel were very efficient and friendly which also made the stay very relaxing...Nothing was ever to much trouble for them

Overall this hotel is one of the best hotels we have stayed in at home or abroad and will be definately visited by ourselves again in the near future

FOR ALL THE STAFF AT THE AQUA PEDRA OBLIGARDO FOR A FANTASTIC HOLIDAY we couldnt have picked a nicer place to stay on our first visit to Portugal

Room Tip: Any where on the 4th floor would be our choice as you get great views plus its very quiet

Have to agree with everything other recent reviewers have said. This is a lovely hotel which has been stylishly designed. We found the rooms to be a good size and tastefully decorated. I would have liked brighter lights in the bathroom as it was quite dim. Free safe, air conditioning, fridge and wifi are all nice bonuses although we did experience great frustration with the wifi as the server wasn't able to cope at peak times.
The staff were all friendly and helpful and the cleaning staff work very hard to maintain the pristine appearance.
We stayed B &B and found the breakfast choice to be very good.
I had intended to spend a lot of time at the nearby beach but was unprepared for the freezing sea temperatures so we ended up most days poolside which is not huge and can get very crowded --unfortunately unless you do the early morning towel run you will be left without a bed or parasol. More of both are needed.
Despite these criticisms I would definitely recommend this hotel for a relaxing stay.

We have just arrived home today from this wonderful hotel in Portugal. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly efficient staff. Luckily our room was ready when we arrived mid morning so we could unpack and begin our holiday all most immediately.
We had the most spectacular view from our balcony, it was fantastic waking up every morning to look out onto the sea.
The hotel was always clean and our room was kept spotless by the housekeeping staff. It's a very modern hotel with a chic boutique feel. The food was lovely, always a great choice for breakfast and we did eat in the restaurant for one night as we were only B&B. the buffet was great, a large selection of well cooked foods.
The pool area was always clean and the staff outside were always helpful and gave good service. We decided to spend most evenings in the old town as the famous strip was dreadful! It only took about 30 minutes to walk or a €5 euro ride in the taxi to get there. There is no evening entertainment but there are plenty of bars and restaurants locally to enjoy.
The beach is a short walk away and be prepared to climb back up 98 steps to the top again!
We would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel is absolutely first class. The decor of the hotel and rooms modern and pleasing to the eye. The view from our room (319) was idyllic. The staff were very friendly and always keen to help. Food wise. We were breakfast only and had no complaints. There was only one aspect of the hotel that was not up to scratch. The WiFi was only available in the main foyer and was very slow sometimes not even working. Surely in the day and age of smart devices the hotel would be best advised to upgrade and have WiFi throughout. Even some football stadia have this facility. Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Just returned back from a great 10 night stay in a deluxe room (420) at the bicos. Myself and my partner are in our late 20's and were both very impressed with the hotel.

HOTEL: On arrival we were surprised our room was ready for us as it was early, we had pre booked via email an upgrade on our room (10euro per night) as we wanted a full sea view with a double bed on a top floor. The views were stunning and the room was cleaned daily with fresh towels. The staff were very friendly and helpful and always greeted us with a smile. We stayed B&B and yes as everyone seems to moan about the famous orange juice is weak, but this is minor and really didn't bother us, the breakfast isn't all that but it suited us as there is quite a wide choice. If you want fresh orange juice go and buy some? We didnt find this hotel noisy in the slightest it was really chilled. Great location short walk to strip. Not got a bad thing to say about this hotel it is really the best place i have ever stayed it's clean everywhere and so pretty! The only sad thing is the pool is small and we never once got a sunbed - however, this was no problem, as we spent most days at the beach plus there is a massive roof space with around 8 beds that nobody seems to know about, we had it to ourselves its so peaceful you can hear the sea and birds only.

'STRIP & OLD TOWN' : From the hotel it costs around 6euro in a taxi to the old town or you can get the yellow train which is 4euro for a 24 hour ticket. It is really nice down there and alot more relaxed than the lively strip (very lively and loud). There is lots of places to eat at either old or new town. The locals seem to come out from nowhere after around 12am in the strip and can get quite rowdy in large groups.

BEACHES : WOW.. the new town beach we found the sand softer than the old town, beware if you have mobility issues as there is a lot of steps to walk, however at the old town beach there is a lift. Be careful what part you get a bed on as we were charged a whopping 15euro for 2beds and a brolly. The coastline goes on for miles and miles we found it beautiful, the sea is FREEEEEZING though and not clear blue like other places more of a greeny colour.

TRIPS: You must try the quad tour with Claire & Rory which you can book directly with them they are on trip advisor read the excellent reviews! Go to the zoomarine its got the best dolphin show ever made me cry! Boat trip to caves via speedboat was great fun.

All in all we found Albufeira to be a beautiful stunning place with really friendly people, great food, lovely beaches, and hot weather. The hotel was lovely i would come back here to stay again given the chance without a doubt!! :)

Room Tip: pay extra for a deluxe double full sea view on top floor worth every penny!!

Second trip to Portugal. What an amazing hotel. We had 4 double rooms (8 girls). They were spacious, spotless clean and had an amazing view from the balcony. Hotel staff gave us a warm welcome on arrival and throughout our stay. The interior of the hotel was fab. Reminded me of a cruise ship and was beautifully decorated. Champagne breakfast (included in our stay) was served on the lowest floor every morning. Restaurant and service was faultless. Laundry and beds changed every day. Only a stroll away from the beach too. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Me and my boyfriend stayed at Aqua Pedra Dos Bicos for 6 nights. The hotel was placed in an ideal location, central yet away from the loud 'Strip' area.
On checking in, the reception staff were friendly and helpful which was pleasant. We stayed on B&B basis which was good as the area has lots of great restaurants to try out around the Old Town or the Strip. Very modern and classy interiors which was very pretty.

We were quite disappointed with our room, it was a lot smaller than the pictures and we had a superior sea view room, however our room just overlooked trees and some roads. That was a let down for us, otherwise I would have given 5 stars. Other than that, it was very clean which I was happy with and we got a free safe and fridge to use, which was very helpful. The cleaners came everyday which was another great bonus!
The hotel bar had amazing Strawberry Daiquiris - one of the best I have tasted!
Pool area was also disappointing , very small and got packed very quickly so it did feel like everyone is watching when you want to get into the pool - not great. Other than that, clean and nice that there is grass nearby if you want to just chill out and not use the pool.

Warning for internet users - the Wifi connection was terrible, we hardly had any connection and my boyfriend and I would only connect at very early in the morning or ridiculously late at night!!

Overall - a pleasant stay with some flaws that can easily be corrected as the hotel is making money! I would come back again as the staff were really nice and once these flaws are corrected it would be then perfect! :)

Room Tip: We were on a high floor and this was definitely quieter!
