“nice staff, nice apartment, good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2014

Just back from spending a week in an apartment at Sereia de Oura. The bedroom was very spacious with lots of built in wardrobes, the kitchen was fully equipped including a washing machine and there was a good sized living area. There were three of us (2 adults 1 child) but the apartment could comfortably have handled 4 and if the kids were small maybe 5 at a push (we were provided a fold up double bed and the couch could sleep one as well). Air conditioning was extra at €6 per night (it is €5 per night in the studios), it certainly made the apartment very comfortable although perhaps that price is a little much for the rental. The pool is adequate for the numbers in the apartments, no problems getting a sun lounger and they provide cushioned liners as well for increased comfort which is a nice touch. There is an onsite pool bar that can prepare snacks as well as having ice-creams that is tended by a very friendly member of staff and the prices are not unreasonable. There is no wifi in the rooms but it is available in the reception area or just outside reception where they provide a table and chairs. Not ideal but it is free. The tvs have around 5 english language channels (itv, bbc1, bbc news, cnn and sky). As mentioned in other reviews the manager Bruno is very likeable and helpful and has perfect English. Rooms are cleaned 3 times per week (monday, wednesday and friday) which was sufficient for us. Our room was on the ground floor at the back of the hotel (room 107), no great issues with noise although if you were a light sleeper you would hear the bin trucks in the morning and the seagulls but there isn't anything the hotel can do about that. Location wise the hotel is around 20 minutes walk from the old town, it is probably a bit arduous if you have small children or difficulty walking as there is a steep hill involved and the heat doesn't lend itself to long walks. There is a street-train with a stop up the road around 5 minutes away that might suit some people as that covers the worst of the hills but the return journey would take a long time as it goes in a long loop. The new town (or strip) is much closer being less than a ten minute walk. The nearest supermarket is about 5 minutes away, it isn't very big but was adequate for our needs. The nearest beaches are around 10 minutes away (longer on the return journey as that will be uphill) and they were nice beaches. There are a number of restaurants located at the front and adjoining buildings to the sereia,- Cheers bar is very reasonable (pint of local beer for €1.50!!) and they serve nice snacks. There is a good Indian and three perfectly adequate restaurants within 100 yards of the apartments so no need to travel if you so wish. In conclusion, it's a small well run, apartment complex with friendly staff and is good value for money.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2014

We have just returned having stayed here for two weeks at the start of July, we picked these apartments based on recent reviews but were disappointed. We arrived only to find we had a three hour wait for our room (not the only guests to experience this during our stay) which is not an ideal start to the holiday. Our apartment overlooked the pool area and although it was quite spacious it was basic and in need of modernisation. The fixtures and fittings are old and a coat of paint would not go amiss. The bed sheets were changed only once a week and the towels three times per week, no cleaning or emptying of rubbish is done at the weekends. Our bedroom was at the back which meant constant traffic noise throughout the day and night which made it very hard to get a good nights sleep. A mixture of guests stayed here, both young and not so young, with the young ones coming back at 5,6 or even 7am making noise and keeping us awake. We can't fault the staff, they were very friendly and helpful, and it is ideally located for the strip and old town but this place is not for us.

Room Tip: keep away from roadside.

This was our first time in Algarve despite wanting to come for last few years it never quite worked out. Wish we had not waited so long to go now. This is an amazingly resort and the hotel also was great . Helpful and friendly staff and cleaners. Clean pool and sun terrace area. We are a 50 year old couple and we booked a one bed apt. It was well equipped plenty utensils and a spacious fridge freezer, full cooker and microwave and also what I did not expect a full size washing machine and an ironing board.
10 min walk to the strip and train / bus stops 5 min away (old town is 20 to 25 mins walk in opposite direction to strip) all downhill so ok to walk it to old town but recommend train or bus for returning. Nearest beach is 5 minutes walk away all downhill and a steep uphill return. Special thanks to Bruno and indeed all staff and cleaners . We will definitely be back to the resort and will definitely have the Seraia Da Oura as a preference if it is available.

Room Tip: Please note rear rooms are quieter if you have young children

Amazingly friendly staff. Can't do enough for you. The cleaners just didn't seem to stop. Fabulously clean pool and area. Great bar man. .Paul.
Myself husband and 10yr old son had one bed apt. Extremely well equipped. ...fridge freezer washing machine full cooker and microwave. So much more than your usual self catering apt. Can't fault it apart from road noise. But only 10 min (max) )walk to the strip and train stop 2min down the road to hop on to the old town. Nearest beach is also only 10 minutes walk away. Thanks Bruno and staff we had a great time.

Myself and the family stayed here from 13th - 18th June. The apartments are spacious, very clean and have everything you need. Perfect for our family of four. All the staff are friendly and very helpful. The pool area is really nice with plenty of loungers and parasols etc. The apartments are in a great location, one way to the old town and the other way to the strip, and to top it off below there is a Cheers bar where you can get a beer for 1.5 euros and an Indian that served me one of the best chicken korais I've ever had. Thanks again to Bruno and his team for a great stay.

The apartment was spotlessly clean and of a good size, However the furnishings are a bit tired, but acceptable for the price. Only saw two staff and the cleaner, but all were very pleasant and helpful as were the staff of the Indian Restaurant next door to reception and the bar adjacent to that. Our balcony was very small just room for us both and the busy main road spoilt real enjoyment of that so I would seek out a room that is not overlooking the main road next time. Location is quite good, 5 minutes walk to the strip if that is your kind of thing, and about the same to the tourist bus stop which will take you into the Old town which is more suited to folk of our age and preferences. All in all we had a good stay here and would certainly recommend it as value for money.

Room Tip: Try to get a room that does not overlook the main road
