“Relaxing, great location and excellent all round base.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Stayed in Villa Channa In October for 6 nights, found it absolutely fantastic value and way above expectations. The owners (Omar and Channa) were excellent hosts and couldn't do enough to ensure we had a more than pleasant stay.

We originally had a ground floor room at the rear of the hotel (which we booked via teletext holidays) we were able to upgrade to a 1st floor room overlooking the pool for a minimum amount. We would strongly recommend getting a room overlooking the pool as the sun sets to the front and all rooms have a balcony. The upgraded room was fantastic, very spacious with 2 single beds, couch, massive bathroom and plenty of wardrobe space. The balcony was perfect for relaxing and the room was immaculate and cleaned daily.

Breakfast was typically european with a variety of croissants, toast/breads, cold meats, cheese, jams, cereal, coffee, tea etc etc. The fresh fruit was exceptional. Lunch is available consisting of toasted sandwiches etc.

The b and b was situated in a quiet location approx 10 mins in a taxi from the old town and 10 mins walk from 2 stunning beaches. There is a small grocery shop nearby and a nice restaurant next door

overall we were made to feel very welcome in this great location for exploring albufeira. Would highly recommend a stay here and would love to go back!!!

My friend and I have just returned from a short break at Vila Channa. I have to admit that I was slightly dubious at first, as I usually only look at 4 or 5 star hotels! I was very impressed however, the hotel was lovely. It was spotlessly clean, our room, overlooking the pool, was very spacious, with plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space and our balcony got the very last of the late summer sun. The owners, Omar and Channa were present every day and they were charming and extremely helpful - much better than staying in an impersonal larger hotel. The hotel was on a small road and although there was no parking in the grounds, there was a little gravel area opposite that we parked on. The nearby beaches were gorgeous - beautiful sandy coves with amazing rock formations surrounding them. We mainly went to the popular Sao Rafael beach, but also discovered a lovely cove called Rabbit Beach (don't know why!) which was smaller but it too had a really good snack bar/restaurant. A taxi into Albufeira was only 5 euros, there is also a bus in the day but we didn't use that. Vila Channa is now going to be closed for a few months for general maintenance, but if we were back in the area we would not hesitate to return.

Room Tip: Pool view if you like to sit out on the balcony with a cocktail in the evening!

My friend and I stayed at the Vila Channa in the last week of September. Transfer from the airport was easy and if you email Vila Channa before you are due to arrive they will arrange this for you. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel extremely welcome. The Vila itself is beautiful, very traditional and has everything you need. The room was very nicely decorated. We stayed in a twin room at the back of the hotel and had a balcony, lots of space to store things, a large bathroom and a TV.
Omar and Channa were superb hosts and nothing was too much trouble. The bar which is open pretty much all the time, serves amazing Sangria and delicious cocktails as well as beers and wine. Breakfast at the hotel was again simple but lovely. Lots of cereal and breads. Cheese, jams and fruit. The hotel also provides light snacks throughout the day and the Greek Salad is highly recommended!
The Vila is situated is Sao Rafael, a small village just outside Albuferia. There is a restaurant next door and then a small mini market, bar and Chinese restaurant a little further down the road. The beaches are a 10 min walk away and there are 2 to choose from, both equally beautiful. A walk through the marina or short taxi ride will take you to Albuferia Old Town, which is lovely. There are some amazing restaurants, both traditional and modern. Channa owns one in town which is well worth a visit and was our favourite the whole time we were there.
If you want to see more of Portugal then hiring a car is recommended. There is so much to see and do around the area. However if you want a week of relaxation like we did then Vila Channa is perfect for that too. Lazing around the pool with a cocktail and a book is highly recommended!
A fantastic holiday.

Room Tip: There are some lovely rooms over looking the pool and with terraces that are right on the pool side.

the owners omar and channa make this small hotel a delightful place to stay. all very clean in every area and the pool fantastic!! breakfast was always fresh and the covered area for dining whilst enjoying the relaxed atmosphere with friends was first class. the best compliment i can give is that we will be returning as soon as possible and cannot wait to book. the beach at gale was in our opinion the best and we enjoyed cocktails late at night with good friends we made at the hotel.

Room Tip: get a room by the pool

Just back from a great holiday staying at the Vila Channa. We had a great time and would recommend this Hotel to anyone going to Albufeira. Omar and Channa make you feel very welcome and the hotel staff the same. We would go back any time we are in the Algarve. We used Yellowfish transfers from the airport and they were also great , on time both ways and you also get a free gift.

You have to keep this a secret!! Vila Channa is so chilled out, there is an air of calm about the place that is hard to explain, we have never felt so relaxed!! Omar and Channa obviously work very hard to ensure that their hotel runs like clockwork, yet they are charming and laid back whenever you see them. Every part of the hotel is clean and tidy and even when it is busy there is plenty of room for everyone. The highlight of our day was breakfast by the pool, with plenty of choice to eat and drink and Omar on hand to ensure that all was replenished as necessary. Plenty of sunbeds around the pool and a good bar area for drinks and snacks. All in all a great place to stay.
Locally there are a good number of restaurants to cater for all tastes and prices, We would recommend La Marineiro and Dom Dinis both a ten minute walk away and the small restaurant next door is good value for money. All the beaches locally are excellent, depending on what your requirements are... sunbeds range from 15 to 20 Euros for a pair and a brolly. food and drink varies from beach to beach..Son Rafael is expensive with only a snack bar or restaurant for choice whereas Gale has a number of options from snack bars to restaurants. The late night bar at the far end of Gale beach where they layout carpets, candles and beanbags is very different for a couple of late night cocktails.

We have just returned from a truly relaxing holiday spent at the Vila Channa. On arrival at the Vila, we were first hit by its beauty and warm staff (even at 11pm!) Perhaps the biggest attribute of Vila Channa is its understated charm; the building, garden areas and pool are all simple and yet very elegant. We had a lovely room overlooking the pool and for much of the holiday it seemed as though we were staying in our own private villa; very quiet and tranquil. Omar and Channa are excellent hosts who cannot do enough to help. Their hospitality and generosity were fantastic and made you feel instantly welcome.
Breakfast and lunch time snacks were delicious and there are several very good restaurants nearby for dinner. It was a less than 6 euro taxi ride to the Old town should you feel the need for a bigger variety of restaurants (we went once to Channa's Father's restaurant one evening and the steak on a stone was absolutely delicious!). Sao Rafael beach is a 10 minute walk away and definitely deserves a visit.
We will definitely be returning next year!
