We stayed here for 4 nights at the beginning of October 2013. It was my first visit to Portugal and the location of the Dianamar and friendliness of the staff has made a lasting impression on me. This family run hotel stands apart from the rest with little touches added to make your stay pleasant . Returning to our room the evening of our arrival we were greeted with a bottle of complimentary wine set out on the pretty little table on our balcony with glasses and home made biscuits and sweets. On each landing tea, coffee and a tin of biscuits were available all through the day , again complimentary, to enable guests to make hot drinks at any time. A buffet breakfast was available each morning which had enough to suit everyone's palette. Hot food was limited to toast(home made bread) and porridge. Every afternoon home made cakes and biscuits were available again complimentary. Although we did not use the facility (we went to the nearby beach) there is a rooftop lounge area with adequate sun loungers tables and chairs. A kitchenette attached to this area allows guests to use the microwave and fridge for personal food items. If you stay at this pretty little hotel you will not need to bring with you (as these are all provided free) travel kettle(available with t bags, cups on landing), sun or rain umberella, beach mats, balls, frisbees, buckets/spades(in large box at entrance to hotel), cool boxes.(in room). Most hotels charge for safety deposit boxes but again these were free in the room. I could almost certainly say that if there was something you needed at this hotel, the owners would try their utmost to get it for you! They even mended a suitcase for me so that I could use it on the return journey home. There isn't very much I can find negative to say. It is in a lovely quiet street about 10 minutes walk from the main bars and restaurant and the beach. A few yards from the hotel are a few restaurants and a small bar for those who dont want to walk into the town. There aren't any lifts in the hotel so may be people who have difficulty climbing stairs ask for rooms on lower floors. I would definitely return here hopefully this year to show this little gem to my elderly mother.
