“Great Restaurant! Great View!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

Evaristo restaurant is located next to Evaristo Beach in Albufeira, Algarve, Portugal. That's the reason why the view is so great. Their specialty is seafood and the food is great, but expensive. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the service is great. You can go just for a meal, but I recommend having your swimsuits (costumes) on. You will be very tempeted to enjoy the beach. I regret not being dressed up to go to the beach.

“Definitely a smart and good restaurant but not worth 5 stars”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

Good fresh food, mainly fish, in an attractive sea front location. But can simply grilled fish, albeit served on nice white tablecloths, really be worth so much more than the same fresh fish that all the other restaurants serve?

“don't worry no hurry”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

Not easy to find but (Wow) what a great location, beautiful white restaurant set within a secluded beach,
Food is well presented by the very professional staff and is of excellent quality.
The scenery is so nice you don't mind the relaxed attitude to the service by the staff, although it specialises in freshly caught fish they also cater for carnivores but a limited menu, children are also catered for.Make the most of your visit by using the beach for that after meal rest.

“Great Location, Poor Staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

We were very excited when we found this restaurant. It is in a lovely setting and the restaurant was smart...however that is where it ended for us. They don't have menus, we kept having to go up to the staff for any service. My sister wanted sea bream and was told it was too big for one person. Not to be deterred my sister ordered it anyway. It was all vey fresh and well presented. Not being great fish lovers, we asked what else was on the menu. The other options were steak or chicken. They don't even tell you how it is cooked or what it comes with. I found it very bizarre. The staff acted as if they were superior to us. (Maybe my sister shouldn't of had a whole medium sized fish to herself....what was she thinking!) It was disappointing to see a TV on in the restaurant. Basically the place was lovely and the staff were from Faulty Towers.

“Non-smokers stay away”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

We were recommended this restaurant by our concierge at the Sheraton Pinecliffs. He raved about the fish and the seafood. Said it was the best in Portigal etc. Well I dont know what is his experience of such restaurants in Portugal is but this place doesnt even come close to his build up. For a start we were offred a choice of just 3 fish and 2 starter dishes from the fish bar as we went in. When I asked if i could have 3 large prawns for my starter I was told two were enough.
When the food eventually arrived two prawns were not enough and although the fish was well presented and served it was dne with not even a hint of a smile. The wine selection is very limited. Everyone was seated out on the covered decking but with all the folding doors closed as it was a windy and slightly chilly evening. The table next to us decided to light up their cigarettes despite the fact that we were plainly 'indoors'. I noticed that other smokers did have the courtesy to go outside to smoke but not this table. The management just shrugged their shoulders and said this was an outside area but they would open a door to air the place.
Now, I'm not too sure of the smoking laws in Portugal but I do know that smoking is prohibited in an enclosed space...especially in a restaurant.
We asked for our bill immediatley. The waitress was very apologetic and the owner just avoided us and did not have the courtesy or the courage to say good night.
So non-smokers beware. Smoking does ruin the enjoyment of your meal at this restaurant which is simply an overpriced beach bar....and not the 'best fish restaurant in Portugal'.
