“One of the oldest Monuments in the world!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

The Megaliths have about 7000 years old ( older than the Stonehenge), is located about 15 kms west of Évora in the middle of the country part, full of cork trees, very nice scenery! The 1st set of stones were carefully placed as solstices and equinoxes ( there is some information about it in there), and the 2nd set in a Menir, a big stone with a falic geometry, one explanation is about the fertility of the lands! Its amazing how they buried so heavy stones!

“Lots of stones”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

4kilometers of unsaved road and a short walk from the car park and you arrive at this stunning site, hundreds of standing stones on a hillside, surrounded by woods on three sides and open to a panoramic view of the countryside on the other. No tickets, no barriers, no tourist infrastructure, just the stones and the trees and the sky. Brilliant

“Mysterious but interesting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

The stones were simply mysterious but really really interesting. They were out of the way but it was not a problem since I went on a guided tour. The site was in the middle of a cork oak farm and that itself was interesting.

“Standing stones that predate Stonehenge by 2000 years”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

This is an absolutely breathtaking site and makes you feel amazed to be standing with stones that are so old. You can get here by getting a tour from Evora. It is a personal tour by a local archaeologist who knows everything about the sites and cork trees. It cost 25 euros per person, a great deal considering you get a ride there and a tour. His e-mail address is eboramegalithica@gmail.com.

It was absolutely amazing!

“Bad transport connection”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

You can't get there from Evora by bus or scooter rental. Only with a tour guide which costs 25 euros per person and on a bike, but it's a long way to pedal.
