“Excellent for local food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

This is an unpretentious local restaurant with very good table service. We had a very good meal consisting of local dishes as recommended by the waiter all washed down with a very good local wine. Not the cheapest meal but very good value for money. The fairest we could say is that we would certainly go back.

“A nice option near the center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

Near the main square but in a calmer street, this is a good, if somewhat expensive option, if you want friendly service and nice local food (including wine and deserts). The atmosphere is calm and reserved.

“The Cave”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

I've been eating here since the early nineties. In my opinion the second best restaurant
in Evora. This place is right off the main square on a small side street. The food is regional
and fresh with a good wine list from the area. You're able to dine in two different small
rooms . I recommend sticking to the meat dishes. If you want cod try Lisboa or the Minho
region. Enjoy the pork in this part of Portugal, it's the best.

“Good home-cooked Alentejo cuisine”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2013

This is a nice place to drop into for lunch if you are visiting Evora and a much better option than the tourist traps on the main square. It's down a little narrow street not far from the main square. The food is simple and unassuming but the flavors are all there and the service is friendly and welcoming. The stews in particular we found to be very tasty and reminiscent of something grandma would make. I can't speak to the wine list beause we just had beers and cokes with lunch but everyone was pleased with their meals and it was affordable.

Also, reading some of the other reviews I am seeing the same thing I've encountered with other Portuguese restaurant reviews on tripadvisor, gross ignorance and a lack of understanding for how restaurants in Portugal (and many other places in Europe for that matter) operate. They always provide optional appetizers to the table when you sit down, if you don't want them then don't eat them, its just that simple. Don't bash the restaurant because you're too thick to learn the local customs and conventions.

“Excellent Alentejan cuisine in a tucked away corner of Evora”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

Stopped in for a late lunch during a day-trip to Evora and we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is located on Rua da Moeda, a small (relatively deserted) street off of the Praca do Giraldo. DO NOT be confused by the "Cafe St Humberto" on the corner of Rua da Moeda right at the Praca do Giraldo. Not the same place. The restaurant itself is about 50 meters down this very quiet little street. Once inside, we were greated by an exceptionally warm server who was veru helpful and engaging throughout our entire meal. The food was classic Alentejan and (unlike the previous two reviewers) both my wife and I thought the meal was very good quality. Very nice atmosphere, as well.
