“Lovely base for Ypres stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2013

This hotel was refreshing. Perfect location 5minutes walk from the Menin Gate via the town square with its beautifully rebuilt cloth market. The hotel has a Scandinavian feel but at the same time it encompasses the essence of Ypres with lots of artefacts from the war in the reception areas. There is also a very interesting bookshop area with a range of first world war literature which includes a good selection of free leaflets. The hotel has an excellent restaurant - breakfasts and evening meal. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. It's was a great place to relax after busy days out and about - there is certainly plenty to do in the Ypres area! All this and only 1 hour away from Calais by car. We can't believe that we haven't been before.

Dear Guest, I was happy to read that you had the chance to discover the town of Ieper and the hotel, indeed only 1 hour from Calais! Your positive comments are what we love to read. Our small hotel shop, small museum with WOI artefacts, free leaflets are only a few aspects that we like offer our guests so they can have a superstay with us! Best wishes, The entire team!

This was our second stay at this hotel. Since our first visit, it has doubled in size but there has been no loss of personality or friendliness. There really is nothing to fault. The staff are unfailingly friendly and helpful. The rooms are spotless and well maintained. The food, both in the restaurant and for breakfast, is excellent. There is ample parking on site and the centre of the town is within easy walking distance. The hotel obviously caters mainly for UK patrons on battlefield tours and it does this tastefully and respectfully. The displays of pictures and other memorabilia are very interesting. This hotel really is a gem.

We have stayed at this family run hotel for the last 10 years. The staff are very welcoming and the hotel is spotless. I would not stay anywhere else for our annual visit. Many of the locals visit the restaurant at the hotel as the food is great and it has a great reputation, We always visit the restaurant at least once per visit.
Definately recommend this hotel

For whatever reason you are visiting do Ypres. You can not go far wrong with this choice of hotel. It does exactly what it says. Central to the pretty square. Free parking nice breakfast and attentive staff from checking in to waiting staff. The standard rooms are smallish but you don't need anything else, as the rooms are clean and everything works efficiently. Probably alittle more expensive than others in the area but fully worth the extra.

I often stay here whilst on business and must return for pleasure.

Great hotel with central location. Easy parking. Modern rooms. Free wifi

Restaurant has great food - not cheap but very good quality.

Breakfast has great choice o fresh food - best pastries I've ever seen in a hotel.

Recommended.

We've been coming on holiday here for years and we love it!

My parents used to take me and now we go with our friends, and they love it to.

The hotel is really comfy, the choice of beer is fantastic and the staff do everything possible to make you feel welcome. This time we hired some electric bikes. The staff could advise on routes and bars for us to stop off at.

There is plenty of parking, and it's a very short walk to the centre of Ypres.

We will be heading back soon.

Dear Guest, thank you so much for sharing this! It's nice to read that each time again you enjoy your time with us! There is the possibility to hire a bike here with us, standard or electric, and in the area there's so many nice cycling paths to discover! Here in the hotel we have several cycling routes for sale and we'll certainly try to make sure we can offer the route (and the number of kilometres) you're looking for!I look forward to seeing you here again with us....a perfect opportunity to pick another beer out of our wide range! Best wishes, The Ariane team

Great location, within easy walk to the town centre, restaurants etc.
Staff are really friendly, chatty and helpful - customer service was exceptional!
Breakfast was (unusually) included in room rate and was plentiful, with lots of variety and choice.
Rooms were well appointed, clean, modern. Bathroom was spacious and scrupulously clean.
The bar was lovely, with a large menu and a very welcome open log fire.
Superb, and highly recommended!
