The hotel was very quiet, I think there were about eight cars in the car park, the room was very clean (shame about the miniature pillows) but they are in the middle of a refurbishment so some of the public areas were dusty, but not excessively so. We were on the lower floors and the upper floors were being refurbished, the hot water pipes of the room above ran through our room making it stifling hot, we didn’t have the radiator on the whole time we were there. If the window had a restraining catch we could have left that open but it opened wide onto a pathway so we felt about insecure about having it open, the TV had BBC 1 and BB2 which was a bonus. The restaurant closed at 9 o’clock and as we wanted to got to the Menin Gate ceremony at 8 o’clock we ate out, we also left early so cannot comment on the bar or dining room. The only member of staff we came across was friendly and efficient and the hotel is ideally place for the Menin gate, turn right out of the hotel and go straight in.

This hotel was assigned to me and my friends as part of a battlefield tour. When I learnt where we were staying I immediately looked it up on Trip Advisor. I was somewhat nervous as there were more than expected negative reviews.
However, ignore them!
This hotel was built for purpose, It is a trip hotel, clean, functional, and has wonderful staff.
Sure I could tell you about a couple of things that did not work, but that would be churlish, and pointless.
The food was good value. No menu, just a good wholesome three course for 16 euro, different each night, and to be honest, it was very good. One night having ate out we asked for a snack which they kindly did for us off menu.
The bar is good value, no rip off there, comfortable and pleasant. The restaurant is clean, comfortable and has proper linen napkins and lovely crockery and cutlery.
We slept well on comfortable beds. The noise was low, it was modern, bathroom was ok, sure I have seen and had better, but there were no issues with it.
The room had tea and coffee making facilities which we used extensively.
The hotel is on a pavement less road, a good 20 minutes from the centre of Ypres, but if you are on an organised trip, you will probably have a coach service to and from Ypres.
So, overall, not a place you would choose for an individual holiday, but for group trips it is bang on.

Room tip: Some rooms do not have phones, so if you like wake up calls, make sure you get one that does. We had room 42, no phone, but worked well for us (2 old blokes)

I came here with my friend for a weekend visit to the Battlefields. I have to say that I wasn't expecting very much after what was written on here, but I was suitably impressed. Great value for money indeed. My friend and I shared a twin room that was very comfortable and spacious, it felt like being in a wood cabin with all the wooden panelling! Plenty of storage space, nice bathroom - I felt very at home indeed. The buffet breakfast in the mornings was delicious and really filled you up for the day.
The staff were superb, very friendly and made us feel welcome. I would heartily recommend this hotel, I shall be coming to Ypres again and this is definitely where I shall be staying.

I went on a school trip last week and stayed in this hotel . I stayed in the newest development in the hotel in room 311 are room was a big for the 3 of use that were sharing it. The bathroom was nice it had 2 huge showers and a sink in it. the toilet had a room of its own with a small sink. Are room was clean and nicely decorated aswell. I LOVED stayin with all my friends it was great banter at night time with the table tennis comps and the pool table and just chilling listen to music. however the food was not the best the first night we had chicken and a sauce witch was rather nice but the second night was not that nice and the third night it just looked like dog poo and no one had it they just had the tatties and for dessert we have fruit salad witch was nice. the first night i slept like an angle then when i wake up in the morning i found 3 more girls in are room they had move out of there room because there room had bedbugs in it. the next night we couldnt sleep so the next morning we were all tired. when i was getting ready i found 3 bites on my leg and 2 bites on my arms cause of the bedbugs. but overall it was good crack and are group became stronger.

Room tip: try and get a room without bedbugs

I went last weekend on a school trip and stayed in this hotel. I stayed in the newest development of the hotel, in room 305, with 5 of my other friends. Are room was clean, nicly decorated, If a little small, but for a school hotel above average. I loved staying with my friends and everynight was great. However other rooms on the old front, although had slightly more space, They found the rooms of a worse quality, they're main complaint was the size and function of the bathroom. THe hotel staff where nice, thought they spoke little english. THe meals where of a schoool dinner standard, and where of an average standard. Another complaint was the games room/ dining room. THe games room have fabulous sofas, but many of the games are either broken or very old. I have about 4 mossie bites, which isn't the best, and I have a cold, but that was due to us leaving the window open all night.
Which is one thing I must note, the windows open all the way, which is 99% fine, however when your friend is slightly mad and hyper, it's not the best idea.
Overal it was a great schoool trip and if you have the choice, choose the new rooms. But there isnothing, as far as I'm concerned, It was great!

Room tip: Choose a room in the new development. THey're like 50 times nicer! (rooms 301 onwards and stuff)
