“Thoughtful personal service, great location and comfortable room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

Having your breakfast freshly cooked each day in a small, friendly breakfast room; having your questions about tours, locations, restaurants, train times, etc answered cheerfully and informatively; having a hot drink available at Reception after attending the 8pm service at the Menin Gate on a cold night; having a clean, quiet room with comfortable beds and a table and chairs; having free wifi in the room and more TV channels in English than BBC or CNN; and having room decor based on Flanders poppies are all indicative of the careful thought put into making this a relaxed and welcoming hotel. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights whilst visiting the Flanders Fields museum. The hotel is well positioned and booking was straightforward. Free Wifi was also good. However my room was very small , even for a single room. My friend who had booked another single room felt the same. The bathroom accessed via a sliding door was tiny. I could have accepted this but the mattress had seen better (many) days and there was no headboard.
If I visited Ypres again I would look elsewhere even if it meant paying a bit more.

This hotel is well located, walking distance from railway station, and only minutes from town centre, including Cloth Hall and Flanders Museum and within 10 minutes walk to Menin Gate. The service was homely and friendly and they gave good advice re sights. The room was clean and comfortable. The cooked breakfast was great and Aussies should be happy to see vegemite.

Room Tip: For less mobile guests, steep stairs to higher floors, mean they should make sure they get ground fl...

We stayed here with friends as a base to explore the WW1 battlefields and museums. The hotel was warm, comfortable and friendly. Most importantly there was parking very close to the hotel which was free after 6pm. We managed to park right outside and in 3 days didn't spend more than 4 Euros on parking. The owner and his wife were very helpful and gave us excellent advice on which of the many sites to visit and in what order which turned out to be invaluable and helped us to get the most out of the stay. The main square and Menin gate were just a few minutes walk yet the hotel is in a quiet location. Breakfast was excellent. Would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: ground floor rooms seemed bigger

positioned a minute walk from the main square and the museum of Flanders. Very well priced. Rooms clean and warm. No lift to upper floors. A good breakfast Buffett with eggs and bacon cooked in front of you. A good base from which to explore the battlefields. Would stay again

This is the 4th time that I have stayed in the Ambrosia hotel, it's perfectly located for the Menin gate, the main square and more importantly, touring the battlefields.
The owners are very friendly and helpful, the rooms are comfortable and breakfast is excellent.

Great centrally located hotel but with reasonable rates. Rooms are ample sized and adequate, but perhaps a little dated. No matter as the location and breakfast more than make up for these small things. Managed to park outside which was also a bonus. You can easily walk to the main square and shops and it was nice to be able to walk back from dinner rather than to get into a car and have to drive. Very clean and very helpful staff. Would stay again.

Room Tip: If you don't or can't do too many stairs make sure you request a room not on the top floor!
