Firstly, don't listen to a lot of the reviews on here. If you want Ritz service and quality, go there, and pay Ritz prices!
My partner and I have just returned from a 5 day coach trip with National Holidays. The Hotel was lovely and welcoming, check in quick and very easy, so we got to our room very quickly. Our room was large, comfortable and warm. A sea view to the right and a small balcony. Beds were comfortable and the linen was clean. Bathroom was large, clean, with a decent shower and plenty of hot water. Yes, the glazing was cracked in the sink, but I would not expect the hotel to replace it just for that. There was no kettle and tea/coffee facilities but I understand this is the norm in mainland Europe, so if you like your tea first thing on a morning, take your own travel kettle and some tea bags, simple!
The restaurant was good. Breakfast was typical continental style with cooked meats, cheese, bread, rolls and eggs. There were some 'English' style bits thrown in such as bacon, scrambled eggs and tomatoes. We didn't have any problems at all at Breakfast as we got up at a reasonable time. Evening meal was soup followed by meat cooked in some kind of gravy/sauce, vegetables which were a little overcooked for my liking with a potato dish. Desert was ice cream and/or fruit and cream. One critiscism I did have was that there is not enough staff on to serve the meals so sometimes in takes a while if the hotel is really full. On the whole the food was tasty and hot.
The location of the hotel is right close to the beach and what a lovely beach it is, we had plenty of walks along there even though it was very cold and wet. The hotel was also close to the center of Ostend, and the shops if you like that kind of thing.
Just want to say a few things about National Holidays. Our driver Alison was fantastic. Her knowledge of local history on all the trips out was amazing and she kept us all interested and entertained. The coaches were always on time and very comfortable and modern. This was our first trip with National and I can safely say we WILL be doing it again.
