“Wonderful Stay -- Great Location, Owner and Facilities”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013 via mobile

Our stay at Geerwijn B&B in Brugges was wonderful to say the least. First, Chris made the reservation process via the web painless. She also provided excellent recommendations on places to eat over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The location is fantastic, literally 3 minutes walk to the center of the main square and bell tower. Though parking is a challenge, Chris provided easy directions to areas of free parking within a 10 minute walk. The guest house is a traditional Belgian row house in main Brugge, narrow and three floors high. The main floor has a wonderfully decorated sitting room and breakfast table (and her kitchen). Guests are free to use the room; and enjoy the provided sherry and port wines and Belgian chocolate treats that she provides. The main double guest rooms are nicely appointed, but because we had three adults we had the attic room at the very top of the building (two flights up) -- a room with sloping ceilings and walls, painted in crisp white paint on the wooden panels. If you are claustrophobic it might not suit you but it has its own charm that makes it memorable. The views out the windows looked across the street and across some of the tiled rooftops. Chris provides a very substantial breakfast with all the expected European treats -- brotchen, meats, cheeses, eggs, condiments and so on. Bottom line -- this B&B is highly recommended -- the location is perfect, Chris is wonderful and makes you very welcome, and the facilities are well above average.

Unfortunately I had food poisoning when I was in Bruges... Don't eat mussels from any old restaurant! Get reviews and recommendations. Anyway, I ended up spending a lot of time in my room and it was nice. I also spent a lot of time in the bathroom, and it's worth mentioning that you should be close with the person you're staying with, since there isn't a full bathroom door. It was a saloon-type swinging door that does not give you much coverage. We were on the top floor. There was a decent view out the back terrace. The house cat, "Zero," is nice (not allowed in the rooms though). Staff is helpful. Breakfast was great, though I wasn't eating much. Omelettes are cooked to order. Try their homemade yogurt. Bruges is a small city, if you want to call it a city, so the location for most places is great. Markt is nearby, Bellefort, Basilica of the Holy Blood. All the attractions are walking distance. The only things on the outskirts I wanted to see and didn't were the windmills. As with pretty much all European B&Bs, the stairs are very steep and there is no elevator.

Stayed here for 3 nights in Nov. Room = clean, twin beds, TV, wifi, sink and shower, cleaned daily, tea and coffee facilities, toilet private however outside of room - bathrobes provided for toilet access. Location = excellent, close enough to the heart of the city to walk everywhere however far enough away for a quiet sleep, supermarket, restaurants and bars walking distance. Short bus or cab ride to train station. Service = On arrival given complimentary port, map and eating/sightseeing recommendations. Breakfast is delicious and generous, Once breakfast is over, the hosts are not necessarily around for the rest of the day and the phone number isn't always answered which was annoying when we wanted to ask some questions. Cat "Zorro" is very sweet. I recommend this accommodation for trips to Bruges!

What a location!! A nice quiet street housing a wonderful B&B. I couldn't believe how close it was to the town center. Chris was great giving suggestions on restaurants and calling our taxi for us! The breakfast each morning was delightful and filling with fresh eggs, cheese and meats! The bed was so comfortable and the linens fine! We stayed out late each night, walking and enjoying the almost full moon. We stayed three nights and it wasn't enough time. If your in town on Wednesday, you have to buy your lunch at the Market and check out all the fresh produce including cheese and meats!!

We were received very friendly; the accomodation was nice; good beds and one could spend some time in the open living room, where one could have a port or something else to drink. In the room one could make coffee or tea free of charge. But really the best part is the location: 5 minutes by foot from the main square

A wonderful b&b with a friendly and knowledgeable hostess, Chris. Lovely room with twin beds-Cezanne- great breakfast. But the best is the location on a quiet side street but less than ten minutes from the centre of town, restaurants, etc. Some stairs but manageable and Chris and her son very helpful. We didn't have the right plug for our adapter and Chris' son went home and brought his to the b&b for me to use. We would highly recommend.

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights in this wonderful B&B.We had the attic room which was very spacious and had a microwave and fridge. The stairs are steep but very manageable! Each morning we had a delicious breakfast that includes eggs if you wished. Chris is very friendly and gave us helpful travel tips. The location is perfect, close to the main square, grocery stores, laundry, restaurants and the best Gelato/Sorbet shop! We had a rental car and were able to park for free just a short walk away. Bruge is a beautiful city, lots to explore and do including renting bikes to ride along the canal. We would love to stay there again.

Room Tip: Attic room is large, and very quiet but you must be okay with stairs!
