“Great Find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2007

The Hotel Salvators saved our trip to Brugge! We had booked a horrible hotel (Hotel Koffieboontje) and were wandering the city depressed, hoping that we could get ourselves drunk enough that we could just pass out and not have to think about how disgusting our accomodations were, when we happened upon the Hotel Salvators.

It was adorable, affordable and had rooms available.

We canceled our reservation at the other hotel (despite the fact that we had pre-paid and couldn't get our money back) and high-tailed it back to Hotel Salvators. The room was great. It was clean, comfortable and charming. We had a nice little sitting area, a comfortable bed, and nice light coming in through two paned windows with window boxes. The view of the street was charming and the hotel is extremely centrally located.

The breakfast was good and included make-your-own soft boiled eggs. There is a nice breakfast room/lounge, where some guests hung out in the evenings (we did not). Bike rentals are available for only 5 Euro and the staff were helpful when we asked for help getting a cab to the train station.

All in all, it was an amazing value for only 70 Euro per night. In fact, it would have felt like a good value for significantly more than that.

Highly recommended.

  • Liked — Affordable and comfortable. A great value.
  • Disliked — The stairs up to the room were steep and narrow. A very minor concern for us, but would be difficult for those with disabilities or physical limitations.

Hotel Salvators is in a very cute building and would have been perfect except for one thing - the overwhelming smell of smoke. As soon as you come into the building, it hits you like a ton of bricks. The whole room was saturated with the smell. Other than that, the hotel was very nice. Our room, which was on the top floor, had a loft and skylight. The bathroom was clean and recently redone. The room itself was a little 70's looking, but it wasn't bad. The hotel also has a cat. If you aren't a cat person, it will leave you alone, but if you are, it was nice to pet. The hotel has a decently large selection for breakfast and also has WiFi. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.

This hotel was booked at the last minute, after a long search through the internet it seemed like the last one available at Easter, so we had little choice but to go for it. Having said that it was a fabulous surprise. It offers great value for money, a friendly atmosphere, perfect loction, quirky rooms, good food, friendly staff and a very relaxing place to stay

We had the last available room ,which was the most expensive, but well worth every penny. The jacuzzi had lighting and music, there was a terrace and fish tank, plasma TVs - with BBC1 and 2 and ITV!!! It was great to walk miles through the beautiful town all day and come back to a spa bath before heading out to test a few more local beers!

I believe all the rooms are decorated differently so each has it own surprise up its sleeve.

This really is a bargain hotel, genuinely well located - 30 secs from high street and 5 mins from Markt square. Staff fluent in English, french, german etc. We were able to leave our luggage there the day we checked out, and collect it later in the day before our train - that was a great help as we didn't want to drag it around all day.

'Speedy' the hotel cat has a great character and tries very hard to get into your room. He's gorgeous (well I just adore cats anyway) and very friendly, but the staff do try to keep him out of the guests way as obviously some may not like cats, but he certainly has other ideas!!!

I really can't wait to go back. have already recommended it to 3 people and only been home 3 days.

  • Liked — location and really individual room design
  • Disliked — no sofa in room

We reserved two nights at this hotel with a credit card and received a confirmation e-mail. The hotel failed to honour this reservation, however, and failed to contact us by phone or e-mail.

I was tempted to chalk it up as an unfortunate error, but the manager was extremely hostile, rude, and unprofessional. Many of the excuses/accusations he stated were later proven to be false. Another couple had the same problem on the same evening, ruling out the possibility of a fluke.

This hotel left us stranded in a foreign city with a two-year-old daugher and no place to stay. There are over a hundred hotels (literally) in Brugge. Don't take a chance on this one.

Stayed at the Salvators for 1 night in between Christmas and New Year on a mini cruise break.

We booked the most expensive room, (€110) not expensive at all and worth every penny. The room was full of surprises including a 6 ft aquarium, jacuzzi bath with mood lighting and music and much more, it was fantastic.

The hotel itself is great and the website doe NOT do it justice, it's quaint and beautifl situated right in the middle of everything.

Breakfast was good with a wide selection and the lounge area was very comfortable with fire and free internet access.

Overall a wonderful stay with only one recommendation for the hotel to update the website.

We stayed at the Hotel Salvators for four nights as a pre-Christmas break and would happily return again.

From the moment we arrived the staff were really helpful and provided maps and information about things to do in the city and where the best Christmas markets could be found. The hotel is around 10 minutes walk from the railway station (where parking is 2.50 euros per day), and a five minute stroll from the Markt.

Our bedroom faced the cathedral, a lovely view to wake up to in the morning. The room itself was full of character and was very warm and clean, and the bathroom had a fantastic shower, which even included disco lights!

The hotel provides a substantial buffet breakfast: assorted breads, cold meats, cheeses, cereals, yogurts etc....a very good way to set yourself up for a day's wander around the city.

The lounge area was very comfortable, with a fire and plenty of seating. There was a small bar, and a drink in front of the fire was a very welcome end to the evening.

As other reviewers have said, the hotel's website doesn't do it justice, the building itself is full of character and the staff are very friendly. The hotel cat, Speedy, is also quite a character, and will try to join you in your room at night given the opportunity!! He is aptly named!

  • Liked — Character building and breakfast!
  • Tips/Secrets — Book early and direct with hotel if possible.

We spent the last 2 nights of our honeymoon at Salvators. The staff was so accomodating and made things very romantic and private for us. We stayed in a beautiful suite that had amazing views of the Salvators church. We were able to rent bikes for a day, and walked everywhere. We cant wait to go back again someday. Thank you Hotel Salvators for your hospitality and kindness- you went above and beyond!

  • Liked — The views of the church and hearing the church bells from our room.
  • Disliked — The climb up the narrow stairs to the room
  • Tips/Secrets — Book early- this is a great place for the price
