“Comfortably quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2014 for a stay in December 2013

We enjoyed our stay immensely (we stayed over the Christmas period). The house is lovely, very comfortable and clean in a nice quiet location and comes with some basics (tea, coffee, sugar etc). Yes, the house you stay in is not the building pictured but this is where you need to go to check in so I think its a good visual aid to help you find your way once you get to Bruges. There were some comments about the heating which Mario did in part explain but broadly speaking it worked fine. We turned it up when we arrived back in the evening (on the radiators too) and then turned them back down a couple of hours later, this worked fine for us. The steps in the house are not very broad, we travelled with our four year old daughter and she handled them fine but for younger children its a point to consider. The description of the property also details a 'family bathroom' which to me means that there is a bath, there isn't, again, not an issue for us though! Also there is no oven which means that any cooking needs to be done on the hob but with all the fantastic food in Bruges this just makes a good excuse to eat out. Speaking of which, we had dinner one night in Mario's restaurant and the food was excellent, we would highly recommend it! Having said all that we would definitely stay in this house again, Mario was very helpful and friendly, the house is in an excellent location (just a block away from the maddening crowds and very close to the Markt). Lovely lovely lovely!

“perfectly adequate”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2013 for a stay in December 2013

I booked a few months out after extensive research, the apartment is in a good location 5 minutes from the main square. however it is NOT the house that features in the pictures on the advert, and the address we were given is not the place you stay in its the address of the restaurant that the owner has which is a minutes walk from the actual apartment. the internal pictures are correct. But generally i found this odd and slightly misleading. I also found the welcome "cool" to say the least i got the impression we were a slight inconvenience as it was his day off from the restaurant, its the quickest welcome ive ever been given in an apartment , luckily there were lots of maps and guides. like one of the other stayers we could not get the heating on either, luckily there are extra duvets for the beds and somehow the house does seem to be relatively warm.

it is equipped with everything you need, and nice touches such as soap and shampoo and decaff coffee, thoughtful things which were nice touches. its quite atmospheric with beamed ceilings and a very rustic colour on the wall. very cosy.Nicely decorated in a very flemish style, generally very clean apart from a few dustballs behind the doors. and everything worked in the kitchen. I now realise why the photographs are so abstract, its difficult to get a clear shot of the rooms as it is all pretty small , but very nicely decorated.

For a couple of nights it was perfectly fine and I would reccomend it to others, although next time i would probably try somewhere else for a change.

“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2013 for a stay in November 2013

This is a 2 bed apartement over 3 floors within the city center of Bruges. The ground floor is an entrance hall with 2 folding bikes for use if you stay (we didn't as we had a small child). Stairs then lead up to a living space with a kitchen and living room area. This was very clean and well presented. The armchairs are not great, but were perfectly adequate.
Stairs then lead up to the top floor with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. Both bedrooms are small but perfectly adequate. Beds a little springy but again perfectly good.
The bathroom has a shower and toilet and is very nice. Great shower cubicle.
As for the area, this is slightly set back from one of the main shopping streets and is really quiet and nice.
Lots of restaurants in the local area, one run by the owner of the apartment, and many more just a few metres away.
All the main attractions are within a short walk and easy to access.
This is a lovely place and we would recommend it to others looking for a nice, clean, well situated apartment in a lovely city.
Our only complaint was the heating system which we couldn't work out, but if you were staying any longer than 1 night I ma sure you could work it out!

“Great location and lovely host!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013 for a stay in October 2013

We (four adults) stayed for three nights in Oct 2013 and had a great time. The location was perfect - just a few minutes away from the main square on a safe, quiet side street. We were jet-lagged when we arrived, and Mario let us in earlier than required. We had dinner one night at his restaurant down the street and he was a lovely host.

“Excellent house, beautifully furnished, in great central location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

This is the 1st time we have stayed in self-catering accommodation in Belgium and it was great value for money. The house is in a superb location, equipped with everything we needed including bikes to explore the city and little extras like a week's supply of fresh coffee!

“Nice Friendly Host Great Location”

Mario took good care of us and ensured we had a great time. smart apartment clean and quiet. Bonus to have the use of the bikes which provided a nice trip cycling around the outside of city on the 7 km (not busy) cycle paths. This built up a thirst for more lovely beer. Double bonus, Mario is also a top chef has a great restaurant frequented by plenty of locals which has top quality fare. Well worth a visit booking advised.
