“Very basic B and B with great location”

Very basic not very exciting room, was very small with tiny bath and no proper shower. But great location for exploring Bruges. Breakfast was a continental with lots of cheese and meat, no bacon. Not very inviting staff, no helpful information about attractions and restaurants.

My husband and I stayed 4 nights in room 322, probably the best canal-view room, and we were very happy with its spaciousness, great view, comfortable bed, and good house-keeping service. The bathroom was good, but the hand-held shower in the bath is difficult for old people. The wifi was a nuisance because it kept dropping out (a complaint also made by other guests on the 3rd level), and the light over the best chair for reading just did not work, even when the tube was replaced. Don't be too impressed by the discount card given to you on arrival, because we found it was much better value to buy the "Brugge City Card" at the tourist centre in the Historium in the Market Square. It gave us free entry into all the best museums plus city tours by bus, canal boat or walking. Our main complaint about the Bourgeonsch Hof was the booking service, so be warned - if you book online through booking.com, any change to your booking must be made through them, not directly with the hotel. I mistakenly booked a room twice, the second time because I had not received confirmation from booking.com for the first one. The hotel manger emailed me to say they now had two rooms booked for us, and if we wanted to cancel one we must do so through booking.com. I emailed back to say we did want only one room, and then sent a text message to booking.com because we were already travelling. But I should have have phoned to make sure they received the cancellation. When we arrived at the hotel we were told that they had not received any cancellation, therefore they would have to charge my credit card for 2 rooms for 4 nights unless I could prove that I had cancelled with booking.com. I later found my text message had not gone through, so had no choice but to pay the 559 euros for the second room. The manager wrote us a detailed explanation of his contract with booking.com, but did not give an inch, even though we knew that the hotel was not fully booked for the 4 nights we were there and they had known for a month that we did not need the second room. So our stay in Brugge turned out to be very expensive. A pity because the room was good, and the town was wonderful - well worth an extended visit.

Thank you for the review and nice comments about the room.
We have ordered hooks for the shower heads to give a better shower experience.

Your room was on the second floor, and after assisting you with the login page for the wifi I have not heard anything further. If there are connection issues I am always happy to assist, as a good internet connectivity is important when traveling !

The discount card we provide is a good alternative for those not wanting to visit many paying activities in the city. But indeed if you spend 4 days or more in Bruges and plan to see many of the museums the city has to offer than you might consider buying the Bruges city card.

We had many conversations about the booking and it is always important to check the details before making an online order. As you can expect we receive many reservations on a daily basis and when we receive a reservation that might be a double booking we advise the guests about that. Reservations booked through a third party cannot be cancelled by the hotel. We have provided many opportunities for you to resolve this. Even now quite a few guests still call us to make reservations as they don't feel confident by doing this online. And perhaps when you notice you struggle to master all those modern technologies it's best to triple check your actions an maybe pick up a phone, to prevent unwanted mistakes.

I think many other guests can say that we always try to find a mutual agreement, and I wanted to do so also with you, but you didn't reply to my attempt for a conversation.

I am very sad that these technical challenges prevented you to have an unspoiled experience about your stay in our hotel.

Thank you again for your time and I hope you were able to enjoy the rest of your European vacation without difficulties !

Overall very good, staff very helpful. Rooms clean, quiet and comfortable.

Ideally situated around 2 mins from the markt, 5 from the burg. Very pretty location, funnily enough for any Colin Farrell fans the hotel featured in the 2008 film in bruges is directly opposite, right on the most photographed canal in Bruges !

Overall a terrific hotel, you wont go wrong here. Definitely recommend !

Superbly situated hotel,only100m from Markt, the main square of Bruges. The breakfast room overlooks the canal.
Friendly and helpful staff.
A good choice of quality products for the continental buffet breakfast - selection of fruit juices, cereal, meats, cheeses , breads, boiled eggs, conserves and coffee and choices of tea, etc.
The bedroom was comfortable but very dimly lit; the bathroom was first class.
Hotel is advertised as having a bar and restaurant but these weren’t open until the weekend! So if you want these then stay elsewhere.
The TV has no English language channels but we didn’t come to watch TV. These channels are not available and cannot be ‘tuned’ in. The free Wi-Fi compensates in allowing access the English news channels.
One minor problem is the continual passage of tourists down the dead end courtyard to view the canal view. Can be noisy at night because of this.
The hotel also has a lift which never seems to be mentioned.

What a wonderful location, but wasted. Wife and I went in for a special birthday and paid for the upgraded canal view room. Since it wa made clear by reservations that nothing could be done for a complimentary one Room was great, but not cheap. The TV must have been 20 years old and a note said no English channels due to the cable guy. The Internet was terrible. We got kicked off so many times and had to log back in every few minutes, i can still recite,the 12 letter/ number code from memeory. We arrived after 10pm and asked what restaurants might be open. We were told none. No help at all. After walking and searching we found a few. Breakfast was included but they couldn't wait to clear out and close. Said on the in room instructions that if you took a food item back to the room they would charge you €25. Really? For the money we spent I will stay elsewhere.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review.

I believe the fact that a free upgrade is not available should not be metioned as a negative point in a review. We have different room type with different rates, giving our guests the opportunity to book the room meeting their budget or preferences.

I am sorry that you experienced issues with the internet, I have been at the hotel at least 10 hours per day the whole month of January and would have been happy to assist and ensure a stable internet connection.

The sign at breakfast is there to try to give all the guests the same choice of items for breakfast, whether you arrive right at 8am or a bit later at 10am.
If some guests decide to make their lunch box with breakfast items, this might limit the items for our other guests.

And yes, the cable TV selection is determined by one provider who has a monopoly on the network. and decided two years ago to limit the international selection. Only now valid alternatives are starting to come on the market, and we'll be looking into those shortly.

Thank you once again for your time, and I'm sure if you would have voiced your concerns to one of our members of staff we would have been able to resolve most of them.

Perfect position for a not too expensive hotel,right by the belfrey, friendly staff and underground parking within 200 yards overlooks the canals and serves a typical european breakfast.all the sights are close by yet it is still quiet at night

My husband and I spent Christmas in Brugge and stayed at this beautiful hotel. It's very well located, right at the heart of the city, just a block away from the Markt. Walking around the this area late at night was safe and staff was friendly in general.
