“Wonderful stay with extraordinary service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

Our stay at this hotel was a delight with a tidy, modern and attractive room, elegant breakfasts that got each day started right and very friendly and effective service by owner and manager Veronique. The real payoff, though, from staying in a small owner managed facility came when we left for the train station and I forgot my small satchel with Eurail pass and I-pad in the taxi. My wife stayed at the station while I returned to the hotel and Veronique worked the phones and stayed with me until the taxi with the bag was located and then brought to me. Finally when because of a mixup i could not get a taxi back to the station Veronique's mother drove me there just barely in time to catch the last train for our Brussels connection.

Room Tip: Select a room in the rear to avid street noise.

We stayed at Hotel Alegria for one wintry February night. Upon arrival our room was not yet ready. This didn't prove too much of an issue because we were limited on time and ready to go straight out into the city and explore anyway. Our hostess remedied this by offering us the bathroom near reception to freshen up and we were able to leave our baggage until we returned later in the afternoon. She supplied us with a map and information about the local sights.

The location is very central and convenient, which is a large part in our decision to stay here. It is just down the road from the Markt and Belfry. Bruges is a very walkable city.

Our room and en suite bathroom were clean, spacious, and warm (which was definitely necessary at the time). The decor was very nice - it felt as if we were staying at a guest room in someone's home.

Breakfast was very nice with fresh-squeezed orange juice and an egg cooked to order, along with a buffet of fruit, pastries, and the like.

Upon check-out we were able to leave our baggage at the hotel for a few hours to further explore before our evening departure.

We would definitely stay at Hotel Alegria if we ever find ourselves in Bruges again.

Only stayed for 1 night, but wish we had longer. Ideally situated just of the main square. Room was well appointed and the whole hotel was beautifully decorated. The owner was very helpful with anything we needed to know about Bruges. Lovely breakfast, fresh orange juice, fresh fruit, lovely bread, ham, cheese and eggs. Would definately stay here again.

This was the fourth or fifth time we have stayed at the Alegria in Bruges. It has a great location and Veronique makes us feel welcome every time. Breakfast is outstanding and we love the rooms. We will return on our next visit to Bruges!

Location: Hotel is located in the middle of Bruge’s historic center but Still very quiet.

The Hotel: Stylish, family ruled, very clean. Veronique (the owner) was from the first minute very friendly and helpful. She is a really good hostess.

Breakfast: Excellent! Gourmet breakfast made by the owner (Veronique)

Chocolate Room: Spacious, good taste, three windows to an amazing view, spotless clean, heating, nice wooden floor, non-smoking, quiet, more than enough space for baggage, good mattress, good sleep.

Room Tip: We stayed at the Chocolate room. Beautiful room with a large bathroom and the most amazing romantic...

My husband and I chose to stay at the Alegria Hotel after reading the numerous positive hotel reviews the hotel had been given. We weren't disappointed! From start to finish Veronique made us feel extremely welcome supplying us with local tourist information and suggesting activities for us to do during our three night stay. Our spotlessly clean Garden Room had beautiful views of the quaint little courtyard and had a real boutique hotel feel to it. The hotel is in a superb location-a stone's throw from the hustle and bustle of the main Markt, but far enough away to have a peaceful night's sleep. A little gem in the heart of a beautiful historic town! We can't wait to return!
