“Amazing Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

Recently visited an amazing hotel for a short break to bruges. What a wonderful place to stay. Staff were excellent and very helpful. The room we stayed in was very spacious and beautifully decorated. Breakfast in the orangery was superb with a very varied menu to suit all tastes. We will hopefully return in the future. Beautiful hotel, only a few minutes walking from the historic center of Bruges. We arrived on Friday evening and were warmly welcomed. We had booked the most inexpensive room and unfortunately we got a room with two single beds and a massive wooden beam in the middle of the room. Apart from the bad wifi-connection, that was the only inconvenience. The beds are comfortable, The windows can be opened. There are coffee and tea making facilities in the room. The bathroom is modern and superclean and has all the appropriate amenities (L'Occitane). Shower in bath and nice thick towels. Breakfast in the morning was abundant and excellent! Good coffee, fresh, chilled orange juice, all sorts of bread and pastries, eggs, fruit, cereals, etcetera, etcetera. After breakfast we went sightseeing in Bruges. The hotel is situated in a relatively quiet street and we had parked our car in the parking garage Pandreitje, which is within walking distance and costs EU 8,50 a day. Overall a wonderful weekend in a hotel where they fully grasp the concept of hospitality.

For quality, charm, value, and location you can't go past Oud Huis de Peellaert. Beautiful hotel right in the old town centre, only a few minutes stroll from the belltower and main square. Dozens of restaurants and cafes to choose from within a short walk. The room was very large, beautifully decorated, and had everything I needed for a very comfortable stay. The beautiful bathroom was huge, with a lovely deep bathtub, great shower, lovely luxury L'Occitane toiletries, and was very clean.

I had the included hotel breakfast each morning which was served in a lovely dining room which overlooks a small garden. Great buffet breakfast with a wide range of cereal, cooked eggs and hot food, pastries, breads, cheeses etc.

Staff were very polite, welcoming, and helpful. They provided a free Bruges map on arrival, and helped me get orientated with the hotel location and nearby I was able to store my luggage free of charge for the day after checkout, and they were helpful in calling for a taxi for me when I was ready to leave for the train station.

Would definitely stay here again if I return to Bruges. The quality of the accommodation helped to make my visit to Bruges very memorable and enjoyable.

I booked this hotel as a surprise for my husband for our wedding anniversary, and it was a lovely hotel in a great hotel just a couple of minutes from the main square.
We had been to Bruges before so we knew the basics and our way around the area, and having walked past this hotel when we stayed before I knew where I wanted us to be.
We left the UK and home under a few feet of snow and arrived in a cold crisp Belgium on the Eurostar. The ticket automatically enables you to make your journey to Bruges so it was a simple taxi ride to the hotel.
The room was very well furnished with a number of nice touches (etched glass bathroom doors, comfy beds and a great view over the rooftops of Bruges) so I was thrilled with my choice (phew).
We were there on a B&B basis ( with champagne) and there was lots of choice from cereal to smoked salmon and scrambled eggs which was a great start to your day of sightseeing.
There are lots of great restaurants close by and a number of places to buy waffles and chocolate sauce from (try one and I dare you not to enjoy it!).
We headed straight to the Beer Wall (you will see the bar from the canal boat ride) and you can choose from hundreds of beers (And some get served in champagne/wine glasses) in really clean and friendly surroundings mixing with lots of different nationalities.
We had already done some of the other attractions, canal boat trip; brewery tour; chocolate museum and demonstration; diamond museum; and a day trip to Brussels but I am sure there is still a lot to see.
We chose to visit Brussels on our return journey home, and if you can do this I would suggest that you do. Belgium has a lot to offer and I am sure we have just scratched the surface and cannot wait to go back for another visit in the not to dim and distant future.

This is a lovely hotel with very pleasant and friendly staff. It is centrally located, being 4-5 minutes from the central Market Square, 5 minutes from the canals and within walking distance of literally hundreds of restaurants! We had one of the rooms in the extension at the rear of the hotel, so weren't keep awake by the live bands at the Youth Hostal opposite the front of the hotel. The room wasn't big but was well equipped and clean. The hotel still uses keys - which are on a big heavy chunk of brass, and to activate the lights in the room you insert it into another key on the wall. It was a first for me! Breakfast was included, and was a really pleasant surprise. Lovely light breakfast room and good buffet selection. Didn't get a chance to use it, but the small gym in the lovely 16th century cellers with vaulted ceilings looked very inviting. My wife loved the L'Occitane bathroom toiletries.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back are best if you want quiet - but you do lose the 'character' that get...

Be careful. You may be moved to the sister hotel, Grand Hotel Casselbergh where the rooms are tiny and the bathroom door which is in front of the bed is translucent. So when the light is on in the bathroom it lights up the whole room.

Myself and my husband stayed at this hotel for 2 nights on weekend break to Bruge. We loved the hotel, I particularly loved the old feel to the hotel and the decor and old furniture etc was lovely.

Service at the reception was excellent and the room was comfortable and the bathroom products were lovely. Breakfast was very nice too.

The Location just up from the Burg was excellent. Very pleased with our choice and compared to some of the prices for other 4* hotels, its excellent value for money.

Overall I would love to stay here again and hope to return soon.
