“Perfect stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

Just returned from a 3 night stay at the Jan Brito Hotel. We stayed in one of the maid's rooms - small & economical yet very cosy & romantic. The room had stunning beams & the most comfortable bed I've slept on in ages - tho did have to mind your head if sat up quickly as one of the beams was very low across the bed. The room had everything needed - reasonably priced minibar, complimentary toiletries, plenty of towels... just perfect for our needs. The breakfast was excellent. The reception staff extremely helpful. All in all cannot fault the stay!

18th - 21st March 2013. We stayed in room 211 which is one of the "Maids rooms", although the room was fairly small it was very cosy with lots of exposed beamwork. The room was light, spotless and very warm. The bed was really comfortable, (struggled to get out of it some mornings, but that may also have been down to the great choice of beers available from the night before!). The staff are extremely friendly, very knowledgeable and very helpful. The breakfast was excellent with lots to choose from at the buffet with hot food, cold meats cheeses, cereals, fruit, yoghurts and pastries. The hotel is around a 15-20 minute walk from the train station and a 5-6 minute walk to the main square. there is a good choice of pubs, bars and restuarants nearby. I would certainly reccommend this hotel and would stay here again.

We stayed here for one night after taking a trip over on the ferry, and have to say that we couldn't have picked a better hotel.
Breakfast was lovely, especially the smoked salmon which I couldn't stop eating.
The rooms were all gorgeous with high ceilings and original beams and a great power shower.
The staff were all so helpful and couldn't do enough for you.
My favourite part of the hotel was the bar at the front, with the log fire which was perfect to sit in and sample a local beer and have nibbles after you have been out in Baltic weather all day.
This was a beautiful hotel and I will most definitely be returning!

We stayed here from 3/3/13 - 8/3/13 for our honeymoon! The hotel is lovely and clean, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Lovely choice of breakfast every morning, all very fresh and a lovely bar area to chill out in after a long day walking around. The hotel is in the perfect place! It's a short walk from everywhere you could possibly want to visit while in Bruges. We got a taxi to the hotel when we arrived by train because we were unsure of where it was but after exploring for 4 days we found it was an easy walk back to the station when we left. Only bad point is the lift to the 2nd floor could do with updating, it is very slow and you have to hold the button in until you reach the floor you wish to get to. This didn't bother us though as we only used it when we arrived and when we left because of luggage and we used the stairs the rest of the time. Bruges is such a beautiful place and if we return for another visit we will definitely be staying at this hotel again.

Room Tip: We stayed in a Knights from on the 2nd floor and it was perfect for us.

What a super hotel, beautifully restored throughout, and with a quiet sophisticated atmosphere. All the staff were very welcoming, helpful, polite and always with a smile on their faces. We had a Knight room in the rear courtyard which was excellent. Spaceous, full of character, a lovely well equipped bathroom, excellent Wi Fi reception (& free), very quiet, indeed it was almost perfect. Our only relatively minor issues were no kettle/tea/coffee making facilities; though being an international hotel, there were only 'local' TV channels (no BBC World or CNN); and only one very rickety, small wardrobe in the room, the doors of which kept jamming or falling apart!
The lounges and dining room were all full of character, and beautifully restored. Breakfast was excellent. The range of food was very good, in keeping with most European city centre hotels. What marked this hotel out for us was how fresh everything was. A good indicator for us is the quality of the orange juice. So often it is not the real thing, this was! The range of hot food available was rather limited (boiled/scrambled eggs, sausages, and bacon), but well cooked. The range of breads, cereals, pastries, cold meats, cheeses, yoghurts etc... was very good.
Location is excellent, less than a 5 minute stroll to the most photographed spot in Bruges (the Rozenhoedkaai), and only minutes more to the Burg and the Markt (historic centre).
There are no car parking facilities at the hotel but they will reserve a space (if contacted) at the nearby public underground facility. The cost was 10 euros per 24 hours, cheaper 8.70, if you want to risk finding a space when you arrive. We collected the reserved ticket at the hotel reception on arrival. The car park entrance is just down the road with a short, (less than 5 minutes), walk back to the hotel. Very easy and straightforward.
So overall a great hotel, ideal for a short city break. Bruges itself is a delightful, easily walkable small city with such interesting architecture, history, churches and museums, intersected by lovely canals and cobbled streets. Chocolate shops are everywhere! As a hater of litter and graffiti, Bruges is immaculate, as is the beer! Don't miss the wall of over a thousand beers which leads to a bar/terrace overlooking the Rozenhoedkaii. If you are lucky with the weather, do your best to get one of the few seats available overlooking the canal and toast the tourist boats as they cruise by. Cheers!

Room Tip: A Knight room in the courtyard we found ideal.

from the minute we walked in to the minute we left this was a friendly experience with everything we needed for a short stay city break. The hotel is located within a 10 minute from the main squares and a 20 minute walk from pretty much any part of the city that you would need to visit. The reception staff were especially nice although everyone else we met were very helpful too and always with a smile. We stayed in one of the Knight rooms which although smallish was perfectly adequate for two . The bathroom was a good size and had a nice sized bath as well as a decent shower. Breakfast was excellent and kept us going until we needed a late lunch or a beer stop. My only advice would be use the outside lift only when you are taking your bags up , its painfully slow . Not ideal when you have had a few of those wonderful Belgian beers and need your bed.
