“pleasant stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2011

We stayed at the Hotel Flanders to celebrate our 25th Wedding Annirversary. On arrival at the hotel we were dismayed to find that there was no booking in our name on the computer. they kept us waiting for half an hour before they found us a room.
Our stay was pleasant. The hotel clean and very well managed, with lovely contempory public areas. This was marred by the fact that we had no explanation or appolgy from the hotel management as to why we were not on the system.
Back in the UK we went to the agent who had booked the holiday. He was very dissapointed because as a surprise he had booked us a room upgrade which of course we had been unable to enjoy!

Me and my boyfriend have stayed at this hotel a few times and just love it. The rooms are lovely although the beds could be a bit more comfortable and more quality pillows. The bar downstairs is excellent and has been all refurbished since we were there a few years before. The breakfast is excellent and offers a wide varirty of food . The staff are very helpful . The hotel itself is just minutes from the main square and has a few excellent resaurants one of our favourites is just a couple of minutes on the left by the river

Booked using Booking.com which is excellent for booking rooms with kids as it tells you which hotels have rooms big enough to accommodate you. We actually booked a triple but there were 4 of us. I emailed the hotel and they made another bed available for no extra cost. €141 incl bfast for the room.

We pre-booked a parking place via email at the back of the hotel (€14 euros a night extra until 1pm next day) The room was big and actually had 5 beds in it (room 223) which was very clean and a great family room and not many stairs to climb. Was good to have tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Kids enjoyed using the little swimming pool.

There was a happy hour on 4 – 6pm great value beers but unfortunately for my wife none of the cocktails were reduced. Staff were helpful and gave us a map and recommendations on what to do in Bruges. The hotel is located only a 10 mins stroll from the market square and bell tower. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice on the buffet both hot & cold.

Room Tip: Email the hotel for extra beds and to book parking

Hotel very central and has on site parking costing 14 Euros per 24hrs. Staff friendly. Used pool once, quite small and outsated - needs doing up and only had 1 plastic chair, could do with some more chairs/some loungers in case you just wanted to sit down/accompanying a child/someone etc.
Room a decent size with excellent bathroom - great deep bath! Large selection of toiletries. Air con was a bit noisy sometimes. Tea/coffee making facilities but no milk.
Breakfast buffet had excellent selection of hot and cold food.
Overall a good hotel but nothing exceptional, however, this is reflected in the price esp. with being so central.

The hotel is within comfortable walking distance of many of the treasures of Bruges, from the quiet streets around the Jerusalem Church with its Lace Museum, to the canals and the ancient quarter of The Church of Our Lady as well as the more crowded Market and Burg Squares. Location is not all that it has going for it. Our room, though small, was comfortable, and air-coditioned with very comfortable bedding. It has easily accessed private parking at the rear, a very comfortable and welcomg bar, and an excellent breakfast buffet with a choice to meet all tastes. If you need it, there is a supermarket in the same street. Not all rooms are readily accessed by the small lift since some corridors branch off on to stairs. If that is a problem, request a suitable room and do not be put off booking at this very well managed and helpful hotel. We were delighted with our choice.

Stayed here for one week as a family of four and we were given an excellent spacious family room. Modern, clean, only small criticism being lack of storage space (= not a single drawer in room!) and why is it that so few hotels (and we have stayed at many other four-star establishments) give you hooks to hang coats/jackets! Breakfast well organised and well presented with a modest but adequate choice of cheeses, cold meats, croissants, fruit etc. Unfortunately no restaurant, but spolit for choice in immediate area anyway. Hotel staff extremely helpful and knowledgeable in advising us on our various forays around and out of Bruges. Small lift to help get the luggage up to (and down from) our room handy as we were on second floor. Good bar staying open until 1am. Pool very small. Hotel well placed for historic centre and easy to locate. Train station easily walkable for out of town trips, but also good, regular bus service from just outside hotel. Would recommend to other families without any significant reservations.

We happened upon the Flanders Hotel by simply driving by. It is well located near the main square (three blocks walk). The breakfast was extremely enjoyable and the accomadations and staff were delightful. In addition there is ample off street car parking and a small intimate bar for an afternoon aperitif. For dinner there are several small appealing restaurants nearby.

We had visited Brugge previously and saved the best until last after having driven from Holland through Germany, The Czeck Republic, Austria, Germany (Bavaria) and France on our way back into Holland. What a wonderful treat Brugge is.......and I trust always will be..
