“Excellent hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago NEW

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Aragon. The location was perfect - a 5 minutes stroll to the main market square and ideal for shortcuts to other shopping streets. The hotel staff were first class from first point of contact by e-mail, through to subsequent e-mails, our stay and checkout. They were all friendly, helpful, kind and efficient. Our rooms were clean, comfortable and provided everything we needed. My room was at the back of the hotel and right next to the lift but I didn't hear any noise from the lift at all - it seemed to be running silently. Our other room was at the front of the hotel and some traffic noise was noted from the narrow cobbled street outside, but apparently not enough to warrant requesting a room change. The cold buffet breakfast provided a good choice including fresh fruit salad, cereals, pastries, hams, eggs, cheeses, smoked salmon, toast, teas and coffee. The hotel lounge area was cozy and comfy with books and newspapers. All in all, we recommend this hotel highly and have already decided to stay here again on a return trip to Bruges - this hotel met all of our needs and made our stay very enjoyable.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back have no traffic noise and are extremely quiet. There seems to be an annex but we s...

Four of us had a very pleasant stay here for two nights recently. The hotel hasn't changed much. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. One thing which would make it so much better would be if they had tea/coffee making facilities in the bedrooms. They do have tea/coffee free in the dining room from 2.0pm to 4pm, but of course, most tourists are out and about at that time. Ask for tea after 4 pm and you will be told a definite no. The breakfasts are only continental style - no hot food, but that said, it's adequate and there is a plentiful supply of cold fare. It's quite close to one of the squares so there's not too much walking required.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony if you want to smoke. The entire hotel is smoke free except for the b...

This lovely hotel is a few minutes walk from the main square. We got a bus from the station which took about 10minutes to the main square and followed the directions provided by the hotel. Although close to the square it is not noisy as it is in a side street. It was freezing cold in Bruges but the warm friendly welcome from the hotel staff thawed us out! The staff provided a map with walking routes marked and advised on shopping areas and restaurants. The room was very pleasant, clean and comfortable although the beds were a bit too soft for us but we coped for 2 nights. Breakfast was continental style with plenty to choose from. The hotel runs a small bar in the lounge which is a nice place to sit and have a drink and chat. We will definitely return when the weather is warmer.

Just spent a weekend at the hotel to enjoy the Christmas markets and restaurants. The hotel is 5 mins away from the main square and shopping area. Friendly staff welcomed us on arrival and lovely rooms to enjoy. There was no coffee or tea making facilities in the room but from reading other reviews since I got back there is some in the main reception area. We used the bar area after being out for the meal and even got a free box of chocolate to enjoy with our drinks. We parked near by in the public underground parking area which was secure and cheap. The hotel sent us details of this as we left it too late to reserve a hotel parking bay.

Room Tip: We were on the top floor and had a balcony

We stayed at the Aragon for a few days in early December- it was freezing weather, but the hotel was just right! We stayed in a ground floor room which was about 5 seconds from the main hotel round a corner. Even though it was bitterly cold, we didn't bother to put our coats on to go to breakfast, because it really was that close.Breakfast was continental style with rolls, cold meats, smoked salmon, cheese, fruit, yogurt etc etc. No hot bacon, sausage or scrambled eggs though; still, we survived somehow!
Our room was a good size for two people. The bathroom was well appointed and spacious. For once I slept well in a hotel room because the bed was very comfortable. We had tea and coffee making facilities in our room and the hotel reception were generous in giving us plenty of extra tea and creamer ( some hotels are quite stingy with their refills we have found). The reception staff were delightful and efficient.
The Aragon is perfectly situated for the main square; maybe 2/3 minutes walk away, however, it is not noisy as it is in a quiet road. We went with a Eurostar deal, but if driving, there is parking outside and a car park next door. Very convenient all round.
Despite the cold, we loved Bruges. The Christmas market was in full swing. It's not as big as some, but the prices are reasonable and it adds a little extra festive fun to beautiful Bruges. We ate in the restaurants on and around the square, we don't particularly mind if they are 'touristy'....we are tourists! We chose from the tourist menus as they are good value and are absolutely fine.
We had a very pleasant and happy stay.

We stayed here as part of a Great Rail holiday. The hotel is perfectly situated a five minute walk from the main square. The staff were friendly, helpful and very willing to share their local knowledge.
Breakfast was buffet style with everything you could wish for. There is no restaurant on site but plenty of eateries very nearby. Pick carefully for these are they are very touristy, for the most part.
Try not to have a room on the top floor. They are in the eaves and sloping ceilings make it cramped.

Room Tip: Higher floors have sloping ceilings and are not great if you are tall!

We stayed in one of the apartments, which was very large! It was a bit unfortunate that you have to walk outside to the main hotel for breakfast, but on the other hand, it was incredibly quiet since there were only a few hotels on each floor. Breakfast was nice, and the staff was very helpful. If you are traveling in a group, I'd definitely recommend staying here in one of the apartments.
