“Quaint and comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

We stayed here for several nights, the reception staff were very welcoming and even helped us carry our luggage up to our room (no lifts - a common thing in European hotels). Our room faced the bus terminal so I expected it to have a lot of traffic noise, but that was never a problem for us.
The room was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable.
It is situated right on the edge of old Bruge town, an easy walk across the square to a variety of eateries, and then on into the township.
Breakfast was served in the dining room, with a reasonable variety of the usual foods - but there was no way of making toast so bread had to be eaten as is.

They say they are close to the railway station, and as the crow flies they would be, but the roads are completely fenced off and you have to take a fairly circuitous route to get there - not easy when dragging suitcases over cobblestones!

We would most definitely recommend this motel.

The location in Bruges is great, opposite the bus station and a large square with statues. The main square with the Bell Tower and everything else are in short walking distance. By choice, we would not walk from railway stationto the hotel if you have several pieces of luggage because it is over cobblestones and up and down to get across a busy road. It is doable if you are a keen backpacker, but it is only 7 euros to get to the station by taxi. Taxis can sometimes take longer than the stated ten minutes to arrive so plan accordingly. When we were there there in early September 2014, there were roadworks going on. This could have contributed to the problem of a late taxi.
Our hotel host was very genial and helpful with the internet. Breakfast was excellent with cold meats, cheeses, boiled eggs and a variety of breads. There was also a stewed cherry dish that went very well with the quark and yoghurt. Flemish coffee was excellent because it kept hot since it was served with warm milk. There was also fresh fruit. Bed was comfortable and another bonus was the bath in the bathroom. Would definitely stay there again.

The Albert1 is located just opposite the main bus station and very close to a busy tourist area. There's easy access on foot to plenty of bars and restaurants, and the shopping centre is also very close by. We found the Albert1 very reasonably priced, clean and the staff friendly. There's a massive underground car park within 100m of the hotel. If you tire of Bruges, it's not far from Ypres by car. Another great day out.

Room Tip: No lift so choose a low floor.

This hotel was a pleasant walk from the train station through the park. The hotel is located across across the street from the concert hall. We had a room facing the street and with the windows open could be a bit noisy. The room was clean and it had a tub. We were able to walk to all the sight from the hotel. The breakfast was more than ample and after a few days it felt like we lived there. Christine and the others were the best in helping you feel at home. This was a fair value for the money.

Room Tip: Book ahead with your requests.

My wife and myself went to Bruges for a short break recently. We chose the Hotel Albert and we were not disappointed. The hotel is conveniently located to the city centre, train station bus stops (Just outside the main door) and all attractions. The staff could not be more helpful. The owner is a very approachable and helpful gentleman. The room was small but very clean and the area was very peaceful. The breakfast was top class and plentiful. The only drawback was the lack of a lift which wasn't a problem for me but might cause difficulty to an elderly person. If I'm back in Bruges, which I hope to be some day,I will be booking Hotel Albert well in advance.

Room Tip: I asked for a room to the rear of the hotel and was accommodated in a beautiful room which was very...

The charm of this bijou accommodation strikes you the minute you enter it. The rooms are small but beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean, with beds so comfortable that your weary bones will sleep for far more hours than you would normally allow - you will not want to leave the charm of the town to return to your room until you cannot physically walk any further. It is situated just a 5 minute stroll from the outskirts of the square, a walk where you will never feel intimidated or unsafe to turn down any side street. The people are charming, polite, welcoming, it's like stepping back in time to a place where modern day life is way in the future. The air is so clean due to so few cars in the centre of the city, it is mostly cyclists and horse drawn carts, so it is refreshing not to feel the grime of normal city life on your skin and in your hair at the end of the day.
Breakfast at the Albert 1 is simple but Christine will memorise your needs so that your tea or coffee or toast or whatever else she can reasonably offer you is at your table almost before your bottom is sat on the chair.
It should be noted that there is no lift and the spiral staircase might be difficult for anybody with aided mobility to negotiate. Christoph will willingly carry your cases to your room. Bruges railway station is a 10 minute walk away, and the bus stops are right opposite the hotel so links could not be easier.
I cannot recommend this place highly enough, Christoph (the owner) and his staff will make your stay as pleasant as it could possibly be,
There is a free safe in each room, an efficient hair dryer, and a flat screen television, I couldn't get Wi-Fi on my phone which was just perfect as I didn't want to keep be in touch with home or the outside world in any way, shape or form.
I would not hesitate in recommending this small hotel and am hoping to go back some time.

Room Tip: Room 22 faces the small courtyard at the rear of the hotel and was blissfully quiet, I did keep a wi...
