“In a good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2013

This hotel is rated as 4* , I do not feel that this is a 4* hotel. It is looking very tired and needs a lick of paint here and there. The beds are really comfy but again room needed painting and updating. If you used the complimentary tea/coffee facilities in your room on arrival it cost 2 Euros to refill it!! Breakfast was included in our deal which was very good. The hotel was in a great location and easy access to most attractions.
We found that Jerome was more than helpful and he arranged train times etc. for us.

Room Tip: Not able to advise on this as we were out most of the time.

The room was fine - nice and clean, not a bad size, comfy beds. Decent bathroom, shower OK but could have done with bigger towels. Nice and quiet at the back of the hotel, but its on a quiet road anyway so I don't imagine that noise would be a problem in rooms at the front.

We had breakfast in our room rate - continental stuff was fine, but coffee too weak and insipid. The hot food was mostly beige so we didn't bother with it. An amusing sign informs you that you will be fined 20 Euros if you make improper use of the breakfast materials by creating a picnic lunch.

The bar is OK, cheap drinks, but a bit lacking in atmosphere and it shuts at midnight. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The hotel is in a good location - away from the worst of the crowds but only a 10 minute walk to the Belfry. It's good value as well, if you book wisely and get an inclusive rate.

We had a nice weekend in Bruges, most of the receptionists are nice and helpful, the breakfast is very rich and the room is warm and comfortable. Position is perfect, few seconds from LoveLake and 5/7 minutes from main square. All perfectly in step with the 4 stars hotel rank. I have only 2 things to say: 1. room service is very poor, the sheets are not really clean and when they tidy up they do a bad job with the bed and with the room in general; 2. How can they have an italian receptionist who doesn't care about italian guests? I can understand and speak a good english but, as a guest, why i cannot have a better service if you have italian speaking receptionist available? I say this to improve services in the hotel that is very high but improvable.

Room Tip: I stayed in the secondary building, good enough but not so comfortable when you go to the main build...

Stayed here weekend of 13-15th December 2013 for the Christmas markets and it didn't disappoint. Hotel staff very friendly upon arrival and rooms were very warm, clean and comfortable. Didn't eat at all at the hotel so can't comment on food but the bar is small but otherwise ok. Go to the Carpe Diem opposite for breakfast-very good! Hotel is in a good location, about a 10 minute walk from main square but still plenty of shops around it to look at while wandering along. Hotel is on a small side cobbled street which is very charming. Definitely recommend and happily stay again.

As other people have said, rooms are small in this hotel. The bathroom is reasonably sized. The basin area is quite large. Shampoo, wash gel and a shower cap are provided. There is also a hairdryer.

In the room there is a kettle and two each of coffee, creamer and tea. If you want any more than this there is a €2 charge. Thus if you only drink coffee (like me) you can only have one drink per day if sharing a room with someone.

We requested a twin room. The beds were pushed together so we had a bit of room reorganisation when we arrived. With the room being so small we had to move the bedside tables as if you just pulled the beds apart you'd have a foot maximum between them.

The towels are not big and fluffy, but rather small and hard, like no fabric conditioner was used. The beds were, however, comfortable, as were the pillows. We had a good sleep (in room 270) until the people in room 269 used their hairdryer or shower (we couldn't work out which) and this made a dreadful noise through the wall that you simply could not sleep through.

Breakfast was alright. The hot buffet was a bit disappointing. Scrambled eggs with lardons, scrambled eggs without, small hotdog sausages, baked beans, Dutch pancakes (tiny super-sweet things) and boiled eggs. The cold buffet was the usual meat and cheese but not a particularly large selection of either (one type of sliced cheese, two hams and a salami) some fruit etc. There were croissants, choc au pain and various spreads and bread rolls. In all, I'd describe it as adequate.

One thing that was a bit annoying was the lack of replacement cutlery. If you had some scrambled eggs and beans, you wouldn't want to use that knife to butter your bread, but when they took your dirty plate away they did not bring replacement cutlery and there were no baskets with any so you had to take it from other tables!

The bar area was comfortable. The drinks were quite cheap and the evening bar staff were friendly. Wifi signal in the bar is strong but most of the time we couldn't pick it up in our room. The reception staff varied - some were friendly but a lot of the time they were indifferent. If you asked them something they were helpful but if you walked past on your way in or out they usually blanked you - not even a smile let alone a greeting which we found that a bit strange.

Would I stay there again? Probably yes - just pack ear plugs in case your neighbours decide to use their hairdryer early in the morning!

As there's no restaurant at the hotel I'd recommend De Wijngaert down the road - turn left out of the hotel and it's a short walk away. We had our best meal in Bruges there and it's inexpensive compared to a lot of other places.

The hotel is beautifully located in the old part of Bruges, a short walk from the centre. the staff at the hotel couldn't do enough to help. The room was a good size and very clean and tidy. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Bruges.

Stayed for 3 nights over a weekend. Hotel position was good just a short walk to the Christmas markets. Very good restaurants nearby. The staff were very helpful. The hotel was clean, the rooms comfortable and light.
The continental breakfast was plentiful with a great deal of choice. We didn't sample the cooked breakfast so unable to comment. We will return.
