“It all went downhill!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

My stay here started out pretty good great, good location, it has a bar downstairs and they had a 1 euro beer happy hour when we arrived! Very nice! The guy at reception was friendly and the first day we rented cheap, nice bikes from here. The room was a 4 bed "ensuite" which I reserved after reading the review and hearing the showers are communal, mixed and outside! But the shower in the room can barely be called that; it’s only separated by a shower curtain from the rest of the room, the push thing to open the water doesn’t stay pushed at all so you have to constantly push it to get water and on the 2nd day here the hot water broke so I still had to go to the outside showers (that are also dirty and disgusting). Breakfast is terrible, cornflakes, stale bread and spreads, please add something to the sad sad “breakfast”!!

I shared a 4 bed room situated on the first floor. There is no lift and the stairs are very narrow so watch out if you are heavy loaded. To reach the room it was necesary to pass through another room which was far from convenient.
The linen was clean but the shared facilities wasn´t.
Breakfast is included, toast, cereals, jam and hot drinks, basic but ok.
The hostel is very well situated, on a short walk from the centre and the bar downstairs is lively and full of people.
Overall I would recomend it if you are on a tight budget as it´s ok for the price you pay, but avoid it if you aren´t backpacking

This is exactly what you expect from a youth hostel: no glamour but friendliness.
The rooms are simple but clean and the beds are comfortable.
Pay attention though to the possibility of a live concert in the bar below: progreat enjoyment for some, nuisance for others. One may have an issue with one of the rooms which access is through another room only, but you may probably ask not to have that one.
Two qualities make this hostel an excellent place for a cool stay in Bruges: The location is very convenient, being litterally minutes of walking distance from the centre, and the staff is extremely helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: If you feel uncomfortable (especially ladies), avoid the room with conditional access (room 12, I th...

I love, love this hostel.. It's clean, secure, and the location is great.. The bar downstairs is really laid back and sells good cheap beer.. The breakfast is good but needs more variety.. The staff is really friendly and helpful.. The free walking tour they had was fun and informative.. Kai was a great guide..

Had a great time here, really cheap beer and a laid back atmosphere. Definitely recommended for backpackers looking to drink and meet other people. Highly recommend the optional walking tour and beer tasting run by Kai!

nice people, great beer! decent accommodations. Visited in spring of 2007, while studying abroad. Bruges is one of my most favorite cities in the world. You can rent bikes from Snuffel, which we rode to Zeebrugge, along the canal, to the North Sea. Great place!

The hostel is not far from the Markt and there is a bus stop in front of the hostel. A laundromat is beside the hostel as well. The room was comfortable enough but the noise from my room was unbearable. A lot of cars passing by the road at night and a lot of noises were made by people on the road. Shower was a bit far for my like but the shower itself is good. Common area is actually a bar that made it quite small as outsiders do come to the place to have beer as well.

Room Tip: Try to ask for the rooms behind the hostel and not those facing the road.
