“In Bruges”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2014

Bruges is lovely and the Canal View accommodation is in a very pleasant location. It took 45 minutes to walk there from the railway station and a taxi return cost E8.40. Our room 12 was nice but small with a canal view and the shower/toilet was as small as it could be and was elevated about 9” from the ground which may not suit anybody with mobility problems. Sound proofing could be better, you could hear traffic noise from a distant main road. Tea making facilities cost E5 per day ( honestly) and internet ( which is poor) a one off payment of E5. We were surprised to be asked to pay the city charge on leaving which was a was E7.5 for 3 nights for a couple but they would charge you to breath in Bruges if they could. On arrival use of the railway station toilet was 50c per person, even museums often charged for toilet use after paying the entrance fee. Nor is food and alcohol cheap. A no frills 3 course meal costs from E15 and a half litre of beer E6, that’s for 3% proof and the price goes up with the alcohol content! Expect to pay E20 or more for a bottle of wine with your meal. There is a bar near the youth hostel (go right) that charges E4 for a large beer but the place is pretty dreary. Uk sports are shown at another pub
( go slightly left and up ). If you intend to visit the museums and other attractions a City Card is the best option. E40 per person for 2 days may seem expensive but the attractions are overpriced and you can easily spend a lot more than E40 in 2 days. A canal trip is included with the City Card. It doesn’t last long and ours consisted of going forwards and backwards to the same spot.

Perfect hotel in relation to the price. It's location is excellent and the staff is very friendly. Breakfast is simple but enough. The surroundings are lovely but what's not lovely in Brugge? I would definitely come back next time I travel to Brugge!

This hotel at the Langestraat in Bruges (Brugge) is not far from the center and next to one of the canals. It offers you nice, clean rooms, good bedding and sanitary for a very good price (we only paid Euro 64 per room). If you look for an affordable hotel and still want quality, this hotel is the place. The price also includes a very good breakfast.

Room Tip: The various rooms are all different. We had room 108 (quit big but not at the canal) and room 107 (s...

this is a little gem of a hotel. Good location and not expensive. Just 20 minutes walk from the station. The staff were great and the rooms were comfortable and clean. We had an enormous bathroom and a lovely big double bed. Breakfast was a continental one but offered lots of different breads, cheese, meats, eggs, cereals, teas and coffee. Would certainly stay here again

We booked a canal view room, which was a good size. It's nicely placed for the city centre.

Niggles were that the wi-fi was charged for, and didn't work in the room - I had to hang about in reception to load a page. They charged daily to hire a kettle, then only gave us 4 teabags. Reception staff always had to be phoned for. Then I got accused of smoking in the room, which I strongly denied - presumably the smell of my pipe on the side was enough for the staff to smell - they didn't charge for an extra clean, but they wanted to.

Average breakfast. Shower worked OK, room clean enough.

Room Tip: Basement canal view - think it was room 4 - was at water level and a good size

The hotel is located just a few minutes from the main squares. Rooms are spacious, a bit dated but comfortable. It was nice and clean. Staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast has a good selection of sweet and sour.
