“Excellent apartment in central Bruges”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

Five of us had a 4 day stay at the De Drie Koningen apartments in Bruges. It was our first visit to this beautiful city and our apartment was less than 10 minutes walk from the Market Square. The rooms were clean, very comfortable and had air conditioning. Bread could be ordered (before midnight) for delivery the next morning before 7.30am and there was an excellent "honesty bar" where there were many Belgian beers on offer at reasonable prices. Nico, the owner, gave us an ipad when we arrived and with that we had web access, access to Skype, order our bread and we had apps to get local weather and attractions.. There were several games should you wish to use them and a large selection of music C.D.s and films ( in many languages). We were sad to leave but I am sure we will return in the future. Highly recommended.

Excellent location, close to the centre of town.

We used the parking available at the site. This was secure and easily accessed with help from the owner. Being so central we didn't use the car again until departure.

The apartment, on two levels, was spacious, well equipped, and in a good, though not perfect, state of repair (there was a cracked mirror). Beds were comfortable, as was the living accommodation. Kitchen is compact, but well equipped. There's a modern glass hob, and a combi-microwave; fine for a holiday break.

Though the pool is small it was great to be able to splash about after a long, hot day. You're not going to do any olympic training in it though.

The honest bar and the video library are a great bonus. The beers, in Belgian tradition, come with their own specialist glasses. Prices are fair - less than bar prices, but more than a supermarket. We made extensive use of this facility to try a range of beers :)

Plenty of videos, several hundred, to suit most tastes: childrens', romance, comedy, action, family... We managed to leave our own copy of In Bruges there to add to the collection (doh!). There's no charge for this. Brilliant.

Bread can be delivered, with payment added to the final bill. We used this once, and it worked well. On other days we preferred to walk out about three minutes to make our selection in person.

From the apartment it's possible to walk into town in less than ten minutes. This is where you'll find the bars, restaurants, and chocolate shops. The other attractions are here to: the Belfry, brewery, and various galleries. This was more than enough to keep us busy for three and a half days.

The owner, Nico, was friendly and helpful. This began before we turned up, with the sending of various emails. During our stay he was able to provide information on the apartment and the locality.

The best bit was probably enjoying a meal with a beer, on the balcony; with the accompaniment of the Belfy's chimes.

Room Tip: If you want the balcony then you need to book the Onze-Lieve-Vrouw apartment - though I'm sure t...

We stayed in the St Donaas apartment first week in July and had such a good time we didn't want to leave! The building is old, beautiful high ceilings and spacious rooms, the terrace was a godsend, loved having breakfast there every morning. Nico and Ann offer a great service, ipad on arrival for the duration of our stay, honesty bar, bakery delivery each morning, small swimming pool if it got too hot, towels, tv, dvds and best of all a fantastic location. We walked everywhere, saw so much and to have the amount of space to relax in and enjoy a few drinks every evening was priceless, beats a cramped hotel room any day of the week!! We are raving about it since we came home and can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: we had a downstairs apartment which was fantastic in terms of size & outside space but there was...

4 of us stayed in St Donaas apartment and it was perfect. Lovely old building, really spacious rooms and very comfortable. The honesty bar, iPad and bakery delivery were brilliant and the location was very central yet quiet. Would strongly recommend staying here and hope to visit again!

My husband and I stayed for a week in February 2012 and LOVED the Carmers apartment! We booked online with no problems - Nico was very responsive to my emails/questions prIor to booking. The apartment was spacious, very clean, had everything we needed, and was in a perfect central location to see all of the sights in Brugge (but on a quiet side street so there is no noise in the apartment). Ann recommended a Flemish restaurant (Cabrinas??) right down the street where we had fantastic local food (in fact we ate there twice). We loved having the iPad to use during our stay - we were able Skype to family/friends, check out places to go see, order from the bakery for next morning delivery, and reach Ann/Nico - a very smart guest amenity! We would ABSOLUTELY stay there again if visiting Brugge. P.S. Take the city guided walking tour! We learned so much more about the city and history of the area.

I stayed in the St Donaas apartment for 4 nights at the end of May. The apartment is very spacious and well equipped. Great bathroom with big walk in shower (and separate bath) and a really lovely garden/patio area with access from the main bedroom (which is huge!) - a perfect place to enjoy a drink from the honesty bar or an al fresco breakfast. I didn't meet Ann, but Nico was extremely helpful and welcoming, and all of the little extras like the honesty bar, bakery delivery service and ipad were really nice touches. The apartment is in a great location, just a couple of minutes walk from the main Markt square and close to shops, cafes, restaurants etc. but in a quiet street - the best of both worlds! De Drie Koningen is the perfect place to stay in Brugge and If I ever return I would not hesitate to go back.

My wife, young daughter, and I have been visting Bruges at least twice a year, without fail, for the last twelve years. For the last ten years we have been staying at De Drie Koningen. Over the years we have stayed in all of the apartments that Ann and Nico have on offer. Without exception they are fantastic. Ann and Nico run a fantastic operation here. In addition to fully equipped apartments, they offer a splendid walled garden area, complete with BBQ and pool, in the very heart of the city. If there is any self-catering accommodation closer to The Burg and The Markt then I would be very surprised. It simply doesn't get any better. Well done Ann and Nico! We have already booked to stay at New Year 2012/2013 and will be reserving an apartment for two weeks in the summer of 2013. Can't wait to get back. It's like a home from home for us now. :-)

Room Tip: There are 1,2,3 and 4 bedroom apartments available to let. In addition to the private garden, pool...
