Owner description: Although the Belgian city of Antwerp is generally better known for the diamond trade, the Diamond Museum sheds a fascinating light on Bruges’ gem connection (diamonds were traded and polished here as far back as the 14th century). The museum features permanent and temporary exhibitions, a shop dedicated to all things diamond-related, and offers its unique “Diamond Polishing Show” each day.

“Replica city”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2013 via mobile

As an enthusiastic jewellery fanatic, I was keen to see the diamond museum. It was €10 *each* to get in and - Where exactly are the diamonds?!!!
Small rooms full of information about diamond history and making diamonds. Interesting-ish. But nothing you can't Google yourself!
There are some hands on interactive exhibitions such as measuring diamond size and looking under a microscope and testing for real or fake diamonds - but they're mostly broken! !!! Plus, the seats are very wabbly and unsafe!
Didn't see a demonstration. Didn't get offered one but I think you may have had to pay extra for that!
No free diamond like other people have said they got.
There are some exhibits of famous diamonds such as princess Diana's (now kate Middleton's) engagement ring and l'incomparible and diamonds from the crown jewels but - they're replicas! They're just glass or something. They're not diamonds! They're just to show size. Not exactly a museum exhibition is it?! There was not 1 diamond in the whole place!
Very disappointed. Very expensive. Zero value for money!
You can go see the real crown jewels in the tower of London for £17 and they're fabulous!definitely wouldn't recommend to anyone. Waste of money!

“Interesting visit.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2013

A good insight in to not only the history of the diamond industry in Bruges but other trade in general. Also learnt about the diamond mining in other countries. Highlight of the visit was to see a demonstration of diamond polishing. The young man showing us went through the whole demonstration in 3 languages, impressive. Fascinating as to how a diamond is produced in all its sparkling glory. No wonder they are so expensive!

“Nice little Museum”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2013

This museum is quite small but interesting. It was 10 euros each to visit the museum and see the polishing show and as 2 of us paid full price we got a very small free diamond, which makes a nice souvenir (you don't get the diamond if you use a discount). There are a few diamonds and various tools to look at and read about. The polishing show is on twice a day and quite interesting, I would recommend looking round the museum before going to the show. Doesn't take long to go round but worth a visit if looking for something to do

“Poor value for money”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013

In London you can enter the Science Museum free of charge and spend an entire day there exploring the many floors of exhibits and still not see everything but not to worry as you can return another day for free !

This place charged us several euros for entry and extra to see a 15minute demonstration of how diamonds are cut and polished . The museum is very small and lacks exhibits , but consists mainly of information boards. It will take an hour maximum to explore including the demo if you read every inch of everything !

Very poor value for money but like the diamond trade they must be raking it in as it was full of people while we were there and more coming in as we left , like us they probably didn't know better

We've been to Bruges several times before do tried this place this time , if its your first visit there are better things to see.

As ever we're mad in the UK with free entry to our spectacular museum

“Very informative, demonstration was good.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

I took my 8yr daughter to the Diamond Museum and we thoroughly enjoyed our trip.

The demonstration was informative and a must if you are to visit. I would suggest looking through the museum first so the demonstration makes more sense.

The entry price is not cheap but then again it's price in accordance to similar museums in the city (Choco Story). My advice is to buy the Choco Story + Diamond Museum package ticket as it works out to be cheaper.
