This was a great hotel. The location was beautiful, our room overlooked the canal. The room was a good size as was the bathroom (with his and hers sinks).
The breakfast was excellent, and free tea and coffee is available in the afternoons for a couple of hours.
There was apparently a sauna, jacuzzi and steam bath which we never actually found!

The Golden Tulip Hotel is an excellent choice for a stay in Brugge. We found the rooms large and well funished with a comfortable bed and a good shower.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
The breakfast was one of the best that we have had in any continental hotel (and we have stayed in quite a few).
The hotel is quite easy to find and has a good secure carpark behind it. It is about 10 minutes walk from the centre but if you are feeling lazy you can catch a bus nearby. If you do walk in to the centre you should pass an Argentinian restaurant which is well worth a visit, the food is good and you will not be ripped off, unlike some of the restaurants in the centre. Also on the opposite corner to this restaurant is a very nice coffee shop that sells realy nice cakes.
All in all we enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone

The reviews on this hotel and its own website suggested this was a pretty special place. Certainly, Its location is fantastic -right next to a canal and about 10 minutes from the centre of the town.
It has a Japanese restuarant but we were unable to dine as they had a large party in and could not accommodate us. There were only 2 of us!
There are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room and two lukewarm teas from room service cost 5 euros.
There is a spa and sauna but if you're unlucky and have a room at the rear of the hotel you will have the walk of shame (dressing gown and wet hair) as you need to pass through the bar area to get to the lifts for your room.
The front desk was singularly unhelpful on our arrival in the evening. The girl on duty did not explain anything fully and the information was not in the room so I had to make two trips to ask about the health spa usage and drag the answers out of her as to cost etc and to ask for a key to the room safe. That said the chap on duty the following day was pleasant.

Stayed at Golden Tulip de Medici for one night in September 2007.
This is a great hotel, fully met my expectations.
Large spacious clean rooms, excellent modern bathroom.
Great buffet breakfast, included in the room rate.
The only down point is the distance from the centre of Bruges..
It is a 15-20 min walk. But definetley worth it if you are not too fussed about staying absolutley central.
Also the hotel does not have it own private parking although there is enough public parking spaces near by.
Would recommend and stay again!

Stayed at the de Medici between 08 and 09/09, mainly because of the Japanese restaurant in the hotel (which was fine, apart some minor details).

When we arrived at 11h20 the room wasn't available yet. We asked for a parking space, which was provided and we left the car there with the luggage inside, because in the hotel there was a room where we could leave the luggage and it has video survaillance, but it didn't feel secure to us.

After returning from the visit, by foot, to Brugge, which can easely be done, we were assigned room 310. Upon opening the door, the room and bathroom were huge ! This is the kind of space you get in a 4 star hotel, but there was a downside: the rooms are outdated and a renovation would do miracles. Wallpaper comming loose, tiles cracked, ... minor details, but for a 4 star this can't be tollerated.

Overall a good experience, but a renovation would be a good idea.
