It is usually hard to find good food in Brugge without paying ridiculous prices and, often, you pay ridiculous prices for not very good food. The Habit may change that. We arrived fairly early on a Saturday night without a reservation and managed to get one of the last available tables.
Because they were so busy, the waitress suggested we start with a tapas plate for two. Never one to pass up Tapas, we took her suggestion. The plate was not tapas as found in Spain but a interesting mix of appetizers. Freshly fried loempia in a spicy sauce, calamari rings, smoked salmon on toast points, anchovies, chorizo, and prosciutto.
My husband had the hammetje and I had the spareribs. The hammetje was definitely the winner, beautifully roasted with a nice mustard sauce. The ribs were a bit over-cooked but still tasty with a nice dry-rub and and a dollop of herbed butter. The frieten were delicious, crispy and cooked as only Belgians can!
