“NH Bruges: Great location, spacious rooms, courteous staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

Great location, especially if you travel to Bruges by train as it is about equidistance from both the train station and the Market Square (around 8 min walk). You can even take a short bus ride from the station to Zand Square which is right in front of the hotel. Very courteous and accommodative staff as well. Room was very spacious and has all basic necessities.

The only drawback is that the hotel is a bit old and smells old too, of which to be honest didn't bother us that much.

Room Tip: Choose upper floor rooms if street noise bothers you (quite minimal to be frank)

We just returned from our honeymoon trip to Europe with stops in London, Brugge and Paris. The city of Brugge is AMAZING!!! and the NH Hotel added very nicely to a wonderful 2 days in the city. The hotel is within a 5-10 minute walk of all major attractions and transportation hubs in the city. The rooms are spectacularly large for European standards. The rooms are a little tired, but the bed is comfortable and the bathroom was quite nice. We had breakfast included and it was very well done, with a great spread each morning. We totally loved out trip and would highly recommend this hotel to all travelers. We will be coming back to Brugge in the near future and will most likely book at the same hotel. It was my first time staying with the NH hotel chain and will be looking at them for future trips.

We booked a 3-night romantic break between New Year and retuning to work. We booked through Lastminute and took a risk with their 'undisclosed' hotel and were pleased when we found out it was a hotel we were considering booking for more.

The hotel is conveniently located between the station and the Markt, accessed down a busy shopping street. Central Brugge is small, so everything is within easy walking distance.

Our double room was lovely - quite large, double sink and a very comfy bed. As mentioned by other visitors, the bathroom was a little tired but nothing serious. The tv does haven't have any English channels but many of the programmes and films on the local channels are in English with subtitles.

Free wifi is a real bonus but you need to collect 24 hour access codes from reception.

Breakfast wasn't included in our room rate and we opted not to pay the ridiculous €21 / per head for breakfast at the hotel. In a city where food generally isn't cheap, this is one expenses you don't need. Instead, if you walk down Steenstraat towards the Markt you will find several bakeries serving coffee. However, the best bargain in town can be found within the store Hema. Hema has a self service cafe on 1st floor which serves a €1 (yes, one Euro!) breakfast deal between 9am and 10am. For that you get a fresh coffee or tea, croissant with jam and baguette with egg and bacon. Ok, so the baguette is going to win any culinary awards but for the money, you can't complain! Expect a queue of locals.

In summary, we were really pleased with the hotel and with our room. Excellent choice for a short romantic stay in Brugge.

Stayed in other NH hotels and this was just as we expected - good value for money. The hotel is well located within easy reach of the town squares (and Xmas Markets). There is no parking at the hotel (which I think is common in Brugge)- and finding the nearby underground car park was not that easy.

The room was spacious,If perhaps a little dark,- due to the age and design of the building (The corridors are particulary spooky!). The bar and restaurant looked good and busy (but with the Xmas market in full swing, we opted to eat out). The staff were friendly and helpful and the overall experience was excellent.

Never been to bruges before so wasn't sure what to expect.we were very pleasantly surprised with this very beautiful city. The hotel is only a ten minute walk from the train station and very central. It is a semi traditional hotel with a happy mix of real Flemish and modern blend. We had a superior room which was both spacious and clean. The breakfast comprised of many choices from English to continental.the staff were very helpful and friendly, which is always nice in a foreign land. Would recommend and return.

Room Tip: We had upgraded room so can only comment on these but I believe all are as nice.

This was the third time we have stayed at the NH Brugge - but we won't be doing it again and this is why. 1. We booked a room with 1 king bed. We entered our room to find two double beds. On calling reception, I was told in a frank manner that the hotel was full and no other rooms were available. Not acceptable. 2. Although the room itself was satisfactory, it was on the ground floor and immediately adjacent to the street and road. Ideal if you like the continuous noise of traffic and passers-by a few feet from our bed! 3. We saw at the reception desk a monitor advertising free late check-out until 17:00. As our train back to London wasn't until 18:00 that day, we wanted to check-out at 15:00. On requesting this at reception, yet again it felt as though I was causing a problem. I was told that 14:00 was a reasonable compromise and that this was the best they could offer. I appreciate that any free late check-out is at the hotel's discretion. But why advertise it and why employ someone who lacks acceptable interpersonal and customer service skills!? These three points are sufficient for me never to stay here again and I will to be recommending to friends.
