“Fabulous Short Break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

Just returned from a 2 night stay. This was booked as a Eurostar package through Expedia at a very competitive price.

Fantastic short break - Bruges is stunning with the location of the Pand being perfect - as per other reviews, right in the heart but still tucked away discretely. We arrived by rail into Bruges station which is just a Euro 7 taxi ride away so we are unable to comment on parking arrangements.

With the nature of the architecture, the Pand Hotel is a converted 18th century carriage house and consequently the stairwells are spiral and narrow, along with any elevators which only hold 2 people at a time + a small amount of luggage but this adds to the whole quirkiness and character of the property, so don't expect modern, minimalist interiors. I am sure every room is different and richly decorated.

We stayed in a Ralph Lauren suite (Room 108) which faced over the front of the hotel. The room itself was large and comfortable and adorned in a shabby chic style which may not be to everyone's taste but we certainly enjoyed it. We had a great 4 poster bed, albeit, we found it slightly on the firm side but this is a very personal and varied issue for most people but for a 2 night stay, it was fine.

The bathroom was modern with a jacuzzi bath, slightly on the small side as the shower cubicle adjoined the toilet cubicle but with limited space, you can see that the design was trying to make best use of the space available to give all the modern conveniences and we felt it is a small compromise to make.

This is a small boutique hotel (26 rooms I believe) with the focus being on service by the delightful front desk members. They are very informative with maps/suggestions, dinner recommendations and anything else that you might want to make your stay comfortable.

We didn't take the breakfast option when we stayed but the dining area is certainly delightful adjoined by a very small courtyard area. The other public lounge and bar areas are cosy and beautifully laid out.

Minibar charges in the room seem reasonable - we only had a couple of coke's which were Euro3 each. There is a small limited room service options available which we were pleasantly surprised with considering this was a small hotel.

Overall a fabulous stay and would recommend the Pand for a short break.

Room Tip: Ralph Lauren rooms seem to be more spacious.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

We stayed at The Pand for 4 nights to celebrate my husbands 65th birthday. Ideally situated - in the heart of things but in a quiet side street, the hotel is great - public area decor lovely - sophistcated greys, black and gold, antiques and quirky style touches, comfy armchairs and leather sofas, fresh flowers and candles etc. We had a Ralph Lauren suite on the 3rd floor - a bit floral for our taste but clean, and pleasant view over the rooftops, good modern bathroom with great shower and jacuzzi bath, large (but slightly overfirm) bed but disappointing (disposable?) pillows. Lovely little courtyard, and lounge area with papers provided and cozy bar. Good breakfast cooked to order in pleasant light filled room - all started with glass of champers...

All staff friendly and efficient. Rebecca on reception particualy good and helpful. Lovely luxury but cozy feel to this hotel with attentive service. Highly recommended.

My husband and I stayed at the Pand in early August, 2012. We were delighted with the hotel, and fully agree that it is a hidden jem, as described by another reviewer. Rebecca was at the front desk and provided exceptionally friendly and kind service. We really enjoyed talking with her, and she made great recommendations for what to do and where to eat in town. The location of the Pand is fabulous; it is close to everything, yet very quiet and conducive to sleeping well. Our room (a RL suite) was clean and nice and the jacuzzi in the bathroom worked perfectly. The one minor flaw was the sheets on the bed were a bit rough, but it was easy enough to overlook. Breakfast was amazing, and the polite, attentive service could not have been better. I would definitely stay at the Pand again with no hesitation. I am a person who likes nice hotels, and I fully appreciated this one. Highly recommend!

We followed the reviews and were not disappointed. Tucked away, but in a prime location next to the canal, the Pand has retained a historical feel, whilst adding the "boutique" touches that make you feel like you are staying somewhere special. Rooms were as described, the staff very attentive and friendly, and we would not hesitate in recommending the Pand for a romantic bolt hole.

The Pand Hotel is situated in a great location- walking distance and close to everything in the old town but just off one of the main streets on the edge of town in a quiet leafy street.

Initially we were given a room at the back of the hotel off the breakfast room. The room itself was delightful, however, the bathroom was down a steep flights of stairs which neither of us fancied. Yvette then showed us to a suite at the front of the hotel. Unfortunately this suite was dark and gloomy, decorated in the style of an old English hunting lodge- tartan fabrics, dreary ambience and light fittings complete with moose antlers on the ceiling and on the walls. Two small attic style windows provided little light. The cherry red velvet chaise lounge looked gorgeous but was so uncomfortable you could not sit on it for any length of time. The mattress on the bed in this suite (I can't remember the name) felt like it was stuffed with horse hair. I slept in a better Bedoiun tent in Jordan last year! Incredibly uncomfortable, as were the pillows, which is not exclusive to this hotel in Europe.

My husband was very unwell during our stay and spent most of his time in bed. The decor of the room was very depressing, so after two nights and speaking with Rebecca on the front desk we were moved, again, to the Stapleton Suite. She was very accommodating of our situation. This suite was utterly delightful- all windows and light with creams and gold fabrics. I only wish we had this room for our entire stay. The bed was a slight improvement on the last one but still on the too firm side for our liking. I guess you can never please everyone with regard to this so we were happy to put up with the firm bed in return for the gorgeous suite.

The bathroom here was much bigger than the previous suite. There was a separate toilet. The sitting area was a good size although the couch needs some attention. Again, not comfortable after a short time.

We didn't use the lounge or sitting room on the ground floor but did had drinks a couple of times in the small front bar. Each time there was nibbles to accompany. We had tea served in our room and I could not believe the beautiful tray that came up. Tea in silver teapots, chocolate covered fruit and nuts, chocolate mousse in tiny pots, almond biscuits and a sweet slice. All this for only 5 Euro per person. What a bargain!

The staff were very helpful and accommodating. They booked dinner for us on a couple of nights at restaurants of our choice. When Rebecca found out it was our 10th wedding anniversary we were given a beautiful card and a glass of champagne in the bar on the hotel. This type of hotel is our preferred style- smaller boutique. In this regard The Pand is a little oasis in Bruges. Highly recommended if this is how you too like to stay.

Room Tip: The Stapleton Suite is recommended

Last week we had the pleasure to stay at the Pandhotel in Bruges, Belgium. This is the first time we ever write a review but this hotel is so perfect we had to share our experience with other travellers. If you want the most perfect hotel, with the most perfect staff, the most perfect service and the most beautiful decor...Stop here you have found what you are looking for.
From the moment we walked in we were overwhelmed by the cosy atmosphere. The hotel is family run and every single member of the staff really loves their job...nothing was too much trouble. The front office recommended some fantastic restaurant, printed our boarding passes and gave us local information. The hotel even organizes a guided city tour from Monday to Friday with a local guide and you will not believe it...the tour is free of charge. An absolute must for culture lovers. The breakfast in the morning was delicious, offering a wide range of rolls, buns, fresh juices, fresh fruit salad, premium quality cheeses and meat and the eggs...the best we have had in years. We wished we could have taken the lady who serves the breakfast home with us.
And then we have not said anything about the room yet...
Our Jr Suite was very comfortable and had very opulent fabrics of Ralph Lauren. The beauty products of Hermès, the jacuzzi bath, the four poster bed and every piece of furniture created the most perfect ambience for a deluxe boutique hotel.
We will recommend this hotel to all our friends and family and cannot wait to be back!

Nice Suite, pleasant, relaxing and a wonderful breakfast....... Quiet relaxing back garden for coffee, bubble bath in the room and of course Champagne for breakfast..

Take a fresh apple from the rteception area when you go to the Canals which are less than half a minute from the Hotel.

It's just perfect...

Room Tip: All rooms ok
