We found ourselves in Belgium with a free day so took the train from the airport to Brugge. What a treat! While three days would have been better we certainly packed in a lot in about 6 hours. Because it was Wednesday the market was open. What good luck! Unfortunately some of the churches are closed on Wednesday afternoon so we couldn't get in but we did see a couple. We also went to the presentation at the Historian and even though it was touristy, we had fun and learned about the history. Because of my love for educating children, I enjoyed all the hands-on fun. We had a nice lunch in front of the fire at Panier D'or even though the waiter was very rude. A stroll along the river was lovely as the sun warmed the winter day. Shops full of lace and needlepoint were tempting and of the many chocolate shops, we chose Pur Chocolat. Excellent and beautiful service at this little shop at Walstraat 1. Next visit we will take in a couple of museums but the weather was such an unexpected treat on this February day that we wanted to be outside to enjoy it.
