“The Kindest Owner of an adorable B&B in Bruges!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2010

For Christmas, i surprised my boyfriend with train tickets to Bruges with a weekend in a bed and breakfast. I found Monique Den Hert through a search engine and contacted her immediately. She offered to pick us up the day we arrived from the train station. On our way through town towards her home, she gave us tips about where to eat and pointed out sights we might like to see. The Bed and Breakfast is only 600 meters from the Markt, where you cross a small bridge over a canal and down a quiet street. The suite was so much bigger than we expected, with two levels (the first with the kitchen, bathroom and the upstairs where the bedroom is) and we had an absolutely wonderful stay, which was very private and cozy.

We enjoyed a wonderful Belgian breakfast and Monique prepared the best hot chocolate i have ever had - homemade, with real dark chocolate and she even showed me how to do it! Her 'pain perdue' (French toast) was amazing! We asked for a lesson in Flemish (Monique also speaks excellent English and French) and she gave us more information about Bruges. The day we left, she took us to the Canada Bridge where Canadian soldiers liberated Bruges during World War II. We could never have imagined a more welcoming hospitality!

We hope to go back, but until then, we will be recommending her to everyone we know!

We had 3 nights at this wonderful B&B. Monique picked us up and dropped us off at the train station at no extra cost which was a great extra service. Location is excellent to all attractions. Monique gave us great advice on where to eat and good shopping. The rooms were lovely and very private like your own little appartment. Monique was the perfect host ready with advice but not intrusive. Thank you for a wonderful stay in your wonderful city would love to stay again someday.

We stayed in this b&b in May 2009, and we were totally amazed by hospitality of its owner.
Monique is very good in sending you e-mails and confirming and re-confirming all the arrangements.
She offered to meet us at the train sation with her car at no extra charge - wow!! We have been travelling for so many years in Europe, and that was the first time that somebody met us at the station! She brought us back to the station as well when we were leaving!
But that's not all: after she had met us at the station she drove us around Brugge and showed us the best and the worst places to eat. We couldn't thank her enough for that info, as all her recommendations appeared to be priceless!
Her house is 5 min walk from the main square but far enough from all the touristic hassel. It was absoloutely quiet at night, and we could get good night sleep after a full day of walking in Brugge.
Our room was on the 2nd floor (living room, kitchen with fridge, sink, oven, dishes and cups, shower and a toilet), and the bedroom was on the 3rd floor. Our area was totally private, and we had our own key from the entrance door and from our room(s).
We paid only 50 Euros per night for all that! The breakfast was optional for another 15 Euros for 2 of us, but we didn't want to get up at certain hour, so we declined.
All in all we were so pleased with this accomodation and Monique services (she was always there when we needed her, but not invasive by any means!) She is a very friendly woman, always ready to give us any info about anything we might need. We stayed for 2 nights and that was not enough, I wish we could stay there longer.
I will definitely come back to Brugge and will stay at Monique's place for sure.
