We stepped in to the Old Vlissinghe bar for lunch on a freezing cold day in December. Sitting by the stove with a bowl of soup and a beer was the perfect lunch.
This is the oldest bar in town and it really feels it - you can picture yourself in one of those Dutch genre paintings by de Hooch. The cast iron stove is like something out of a museum, but it works!
There is even a friendly dog, who looks up at you, hoping you have not read the notice forbidding you to feed him.
The choice of beer was more restricted than in many bars, with only about a dozen to choose from, but there is a good range of the local beers.
