“Worthwhile, but poor commentary”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

The trip lasts about an hour, and is good value for just under 8 euros.

You certainly get to see a fair bit of Central Bruges.

Wrap up warm, the boats are not covered.

Unfortunately the boat driver's michrophone was very poor, and we couldn't make out much of what was being said.

“Best way to know the city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

The tours through the canals of Brugge helps you to know better the city, built so close to them. The boat driver gives some explanations about the city´s history and culture, but you have to pay attention because he speaks fast e his English is not so well.

“Great views from the water”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

There is a big difference viewing the historic buildings from the water then from the land...make sure you do both!
It costs only 9 euros for a 30 minutes tour. Life explanation is given by the boatsman in Dutch, French and English.

“CANALS MAKE BRUGES EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

The capital of West Flanders is older than many of European capitals. And from the very beginning (roughly from 3rd century) the canals helped Bruges to gain wealth and fame. I dislike the primitive dubbing the city as “Northern Venice”, they are totally different, but each one has its own beauty and peculiarity. Canals in Bruges add the special spirit, and many tourists after getting the canal cruises see and feel Bruges much better than people who ignored this unique attraction – The Cruise. Yes, local canals are not that big as in Amsterdam or Venice, but they are very fine, elegant, even intimate. The Flemish name 'Brugge' is probably derived from the word 'Rogia' (which was the Latin name of the 'Reie' the river which flowed through Bruges). When in Bruges you don’t see the river and canals is more than enough to get as much pleasure as you could perceive. When on a cruise boat don’t try to count bridges, but I’ll help: there are 54 bridges in the city, 12 of them are still wooden…
Unfortunately Bruges has got the same bad fate as many European capitals and historical centers go through: commerce kills the history and beauty more and more. Look at Prague and Paris, Amsterdam or else, in the most unique places you see today more commercial signs than old structures. Same in Bruges, look at least on the Markt. That’s why any canal cruise in Bruges keeps you away from that commercial stress presenting you the real beauty and real spirit of this grand city.
Canals here like a music to my ears. So please see my gallery of lyrical "opuses" and let your soul to listen the same...

“A must in Bruges”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

This was the second time I have been on the canal trip in Bruges and it doesn't fail to please me…Bruges is a large place to see if you only have a few hours..so what better way to rest your legs and take in the view from the water..I think the cost was €7.95 for the 25 min trip..a tip is advised at the end of the journey..when you think what a taxi would cost its well worth it..there are a number of boarding points and you will always get dropped off at the point where you joined.. the trip is the same whatever point you join (the canal boat doesnt stop at each boarding point like a bus so its an uninterrupted lovely trip)..DON'T FORGET TO TAKE YOUR CAMERA..enjoy
