Visited this lovely restaurant back in February and had a fantastic meal. Decided to rerun and were not disappointed. The owner Sylvia is so friendly and welcoming as if you were in her home. Normally her daughter is the chef but is on maternity leave as she is having twins very soon. Do not be alarmed they have a replacement cook who is doing a fantastic job in the meantime.
Willemijn is a cosy intimate restaurant situated just a little off the beaten track from the centre of Brugge. Do not be put off by this as it only takes 15 mins to walk there, you will not be disappointed. There is a set menu that is all inclusive with three courses a half bottle of wine, water and coffee. You can even have an aperitif as well included in the 55€ cost.
To start with were some extra nibbles of pickled herring, fish paste on cracker and cheese crisp ball. My starter was smoked salmon stuffed with brown shrimps. Cocktail of grey shrimps is what the other had to start with. The other had to follow the beef steak with a mushroom sauce with vegetables. Cooked really well. I had a pork fillet stuffed with a sauce of tomatoes serve with summer vegetables. This also was delicious and cooked very well. Desert beckoned and I opted just for some ice cream as I was now quite full and the other had an apple pie and ice cream. A lovely coffee completed the meal. This menus is available for 40€ if you do not have the drinks package.
I would encourage diners to visit here as the owner really makes every effort to welcome you and ensure that your meal and your evening are up to expectations.
