“great wee hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2014

Stayed here for 1 night. Nice room with balcony, pleasant staff and good breakfast mainly continental but there was bacon and scrambled eggs also. Hotel in great position between station and town centre. Only one downside was we got eaten alive by mozzies and hadn't taken any sprays /plugs etc with me. I looked at previous reviews and didn't spot any comments but I suppose if you think of the canals!!!

Room Tip: We asked for a room with a balcony and got a nice one on 2nd floor room 202 (balcony has no room to...

Went away for the weekend to Brugge with Harry Roffey coach tours , having read some of the recent reviews of this hotel I was a little concerned, I needn't,t have been ! The room that we had was very comfortable with a nice little terrace to sit out on. The bathroom was clean with complimentary toiletries and plenty of towels. Bed was kingsize with nice cotton bedding.Room was quiet so we had a peaceful nights sleep. Breakfast there was a choice of croissants, toast, rolls yogurt, cheese, ham etc plenty for everyone. Our coach driver and guide were fantastic and very helpful nothing was too much trouble ! Don,t know how they do it for the price !

Went with a coach tour so about 40 people, check in was smooth and well organised, we were given room 201, pleasant room, clean, modern decor everything worked. Bathroom was fine, clean, there were a few bits like base of bath was pitted, and floor tiles had at one time cracked and been repaired but that was it. Only got 1 pillow each so asked for extra and received quickly. This is not a good room if you have mobility issues as 5 steps from corridor to room door.
Stayed one night, breakfast was well laid out and very pleasant, rolls, cheese and ham, mini croissants jams orange juice coffee and selection of teas.
All in all good little hotel, very central great for one or two nights.

We booked a 3 night stay, were put into an annex at the rear of the restaurant which is awful, no security, dirty stained carpets damp musty corridor narrow spiral stairs up to room which was hot not very clean, light fitting hanging off, badly repaired hole in wall, safe not working, old tv locked on very low sound. Bathroom had sloping ceiling unable to stand in bath to shower or stand in front of wc without hitting head, Balcony was tiny with very loose decking. View was roof next door or kitchen over street!
Would not recommend to anyone, we only lasted 3 hours moved to a decent hotel other side of road.

Room Tip: Do not accept rooms in annex, it is a hostel not an hotel

Just spent 2 nights there only thing missing was a kettle in the room so I brought my own .
Lots of moaning in the reviews regarding it being hot in the room and so it was , however i opened the window and guess what? the room cooled down.
it has wifi and a fridge , its in a great location and the reception personnel were very helpful.
Breakfast was ok , not the best but then its a 3 star hotel.
I look forward to staying there again

Stayed for one night in early June.

Welcome at reception was efficient, but didn't come over as that welcoming. Room was on the second floor, facing the front of the building, i.e. overlooking the road with the restaurant tables just below the balcony. Main complaint about the room was the temperature. We arrived back in the evening to go to bed to discover that the air-conditioning had been blasting out hot air. In fact it didn't seem to understand "cool" at all. The only option at that stage was to open the door to the balcony, which lowered the temperature (eventually), but obviously let in the noise.

Breakfast was simple, but OK.

The hotel advertises parking near by, but finding the entrance is almost impossible. We ended up parking a 10 minute walk away and noticed just after we checked in somebody else was asking for directions to the car park as they couldn't find it either.

Parking apart, the hotel location is quite good, within walking distance of most parts of the old town.

Avoid the back building rooms at all costs! Airless, tiny, it was like being in a furnace! The bathroom, everything was crammed in and the finishing was awful. Such a shame as it is in a great location. I went with my father. The room was so hot that we had an awful night's sleep and couldn't wait to check out.

Room Tip: Avoid the back building. Lots of steps, not great if you are with elderly people.
