“A lovely meal in a lovely spot.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2014

A very small restaurant that absolutely requires reservations for dinner. We shared the country pate which was fantastic. I had the duck in a raspberry sauce -- one of the best duck dishes I've ever enjoyed. My wife had the chicken in a mushroom sauce and loved it. We had a warm chocolate and cream desert that was ridiculously good.

“Thoroughly enjoyed meal and reasonably prices for Brugge!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2014

Went here after seeing the reviews on tripadvisor and wanted to make sure we went to one "Flemish" restaurant while in Brugge. We both had the Flemish stew (eaten on same day the previous review) and the meat was gorgeous, tender and the sauce lovely! Served with chips and salad. We then followed with the creme brûlée and the chocolate mousse both very nice! The meal was the cheapest we had in Brugge at €70 including a good tip for a bottle of wine, two mains, two desserts and a bottle of water - this is good for Brugge as everywhere is extremely expensive. Will recommend to our friends travelling next month

“Tourist trap. Terrible”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2014

Nice ambiance, friendly enough service, but the food was enormously disappointing. Flemish beef stew was criminally dry and overcooked. My wife's guinea fowl was much the same. Shrimp croquettes tastes like they were straight from the freezer.

Granted many patrons seemed happy with their meals, but the crowd was almost uniformly British pensioners; not a local anywhere in sight. Avoid.

Dear Sir,

For one, oh irony the man who talks about "tourist trap" uses tripadvisor MADE FOR TOURISTS to blame us for the fact that there are only tourist in the restaurant....you my dear Sir are a TOURIST TOO ! but it became obvious when you came in with you're wife that actually you thought you where the PRINS OF WHALES (my apologies to the real Prins Of Whales)
If you liked the service and the ambiance "Nice ambiance, friendly enough service" you said why would you give us a 1 out of 5 ? I cannot say anything about the food because apparently 93% of the people who did eat with us Liked it enough to say something on Tripadvisor... let alone all the people that like it and never say a word...(my kind of people) .
Anyway very sorry you did not like it but calling the shrimp croquettes bad when a Michelin chef told us they where excellent tells me all i need to know about you're taste buds.

Sorry you didn't have the Balls to tell us when you where with us instead of putting it on the web like a child does.

Have a good day.

Yours sincerely,

The Owner.

“Lovely little intimate restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2014

This was such a lovely romantic restaurant with a great view of town. We could sit and watch the horse carriages drive by during our meal. My husband ordered the skate (manta ray), mashed potatoes, coffee and Straffe Hendrik beer. He loved the beer. The skate was beautifully presented but my husband rated it a C. I ordered the tourist menu (16.80 Euros) which included celery soup, chicken with mushroom sauce, salad and potato croquettes. It even included a puff pastry for dessert. I would rate the meal a B but the dessert an A!

“Thanks Tripadvisor”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2014 via mobile

We had come to spend a day in Bruges, as we quite frequently do, and decided to find somewhere new to eat. After checking on Tripadvisor we discovered Gruuthusehof and liked what we read. We popped in earlier and asked to book a window table for 1.30
We found the atmosphere charming and the staff very helpful. When we arrived our window table was waiting for us and we had delicious lunch of foie gras, mussels, trout with almonds and an apple pie that tasted as good as it looked.
I would definitely return and would happily enjoy their food again, the restaurant fully came up to our expectations.
